With 1 in 5 children struggling with their mental health, our surf therapy intervention is needed now more than ever. We transform the lives of children struggling with depression and anxiety. Through our 6 week course we help them to feel calm, confident, to have positive thoughts about themselves, to have higher self esteem and trust in others. We work with over 2000 children and young people across the UK every year and have reached over 14,000 over the past 14 years.
It is an exciting time to join the charity - we have a new CEO in post who has plans to take this charity to new heights - reaching even more children than ever before and we need an experienced fundraiser who can help us achieve that vision. Working as part of a small fundraising team you will have the ability to really make a substantial difference.
The role is advertised as 15 hours however there is the hope that this will end up being increased in the not too distant future. We will consider candidiates working remotely but for those based near HQ (Newquay, Cornwall) you will be able to join in with our pre work swims/paddles/coffee on the beach and our Bring and Share lunches! Please do not feel like you need to be a seasoned surfer for this role - the majority of the non delivery team are also not surfers!

The Philanthropy Manager is a key member of the Philanthropy & Partner Engagement Department which sits within War Child’s award-winning Fundraising team. Your Role
The Philanthropy Manager role is crucial in helping raise funds to enable our rapid growth and the expansion of our impact. Reporting to the Philanthropy Lead, you will be responsible for developing an excellent stewardship programme which grows unrestricted and restricted income and nurtures relationships with War Child’s existing major donors. You will use excellent communication skills to write compelling and tailored proposals to increase our reach.

Your Responsibilities
- Systematically identify, qualify, and strategise a pipeline for up to six figure gifts for both unrestricted and restricted giving
- Lead on building an excellent stewardship programme, supporting relationship managers across the team to deliver sector leading supporter journeys
- Develop and implement strong cultivation and solicitation plans for existing donors to generate significant income from the portfolio. This will include personal meetings, attending networking events, writing proposals/reports and making presentations
- Take an active role, and lead where relevant, on the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of philanthropy events, including events that are hosted by Ambassadors
- Support on the development of new fundraising products which drive the stewardship programme and the retention of major donors
- Actively participate in regular department, team or working group meetings, contributing to strategy discussion and decisions that will be beneficial to the development of fundraising activities
- Record all communications with major donors on War Child’s database, Salesforce, ensuring donor information is kept up to date and properly secured at all times.
- Monitor income and expenditure targets and provide regular progress reports and updates on performance against target using War Child’s database
- Take an active role, and lead where relevant, in cross-team working groups to provide insight, advice and gain opportunities for the Philanthropy & Partnerships team
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of current activities of War Child and be an advocate of the War Child brand at all times
- Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.

You Are
- Experienced in a similar fundraising role, with a specialist knowledge of major donor fundraising, ideally within an international development or humanitarian NGO
- Able to work independently to develop and implement fundraising strategies with a proven track record of securing five-figure gifts and delivering against targets
- A relationship manager with strong networking skills at senior levels internally and externally
- Experienced in stewardship strategies for major donors or the development of supporter journeys in order to retain donors
- Excellent skills in presenting information, verbally and in writing, including briefings and project reports to a range of audiences in a clear and confident manner
- Able to understand international development including War Child’s vision, mission and values and present War Child’s work with authority
- Organised and able to plan and prioritise to meet multiple deadlines
- Able to demonstrate experience of successfully planning and delivering events.
- Up to date in your knowledge of fundraising regulation, compliance and GDPR, and its implications for fundraising policy and practise.

We are excited to be recruiting a Philanthropy Manager to join our Fundraising Team. This is a new role which will be instrumental in setting us up well to grow income from major donors over the coming years. Travel: Between our offices and to and from community/ fundraising events. A drivers licence and access to a car is essential for this role. Travel expenses will be paid from your designated place of work.
Role Outline
This new role for Citizens Advice Bucks provides a great opportunity for someone to join our supportive fundraising team at an exciting time when we look to expand the way in which we engage our local community and fundraise. The role will work with colleagues across the charity including our Communications team. will play a key role in raising awareness of Citizens Advice Bucks in the County, engaging with existing and new supporters/partners through a variety of community and fundraising events.
Helping the fundraising team attract new supporters, take care of existing ones, managing our community events, challenge events, individual and regular giving and small grants income streams and explore new fundraising opportunities.
Working with our Comms team to design exciting and relevant materials and social media content to promote community events and fundraising opportunities.

As of April 2021, Citizens Advice Chiltern, Aylesbury Vale and High Wycombe came together to form Citizens Advice Bucks, an independent and volunteer-based charity. How would you contribute to Cycle Sisters’ mission?
Cycle Sisters has grown hugely over the past few years, with an expanded range of programmes and activity. We are keen to continue this journey of growth and have just finalised a new strategy for 2024-2027 which prioritises reaching more women and girls, and ensuring our financial sustainability.
The Fundraising Lead will play a critical role in supporting our ‘sustainability' strategic priority to ensure Cycle Sisters can access the resources it needs to keep making a difference. This post-holder will lead on growing Cycle Sisters’ unrestricted income, with a focus on community fundraising and corporate partnerships.
The post-holder will need to be an excellent networker, confident in representing the organisation externally and able to motivate a range of stakeholders to financially support Cycle Sisters’ work.
What would you be doing?
Below is a list of responsibilities which provide a broad outline of the role. This is not an exhaustive list as Cycle Sisters is a small team which requires flexibility.
This is a new part-time role and we will work with the successful candidate to develop a workplan which is realistic within the hours available. There will also be support from other team members on some of the areas of work.
General responsibilities

Develop strategies to achieve income targets across the areas outlined below

Ensure all fundraising initiatives are properly planned, delivered, monitored and evaluated. All activities should be conducted in adherence to best practice, Cycle Sisters’ ethical policy and charity law.

Represent the organisation externally including networking, delivering presentations and speaking at events

Work with the Communications & Media Lead to create compelling fundraising messages and materials for a range of audiences

Work collaboratively with other team members in Cycle Sisters to maximise all opportunities for fundraising
Individual Giving and Community Fundraising

Oversee event/challenge fundraising, liaising closely with volunteer fundraisers to maximise income and ensure fundraisers feel valued and appreciated

Work with the Communications & Media Lead to ensure donors feel valued and appreciated

Develop and implement a regular giving strategy, helping us to progress donors from one-off to regular giving

Work with the CEO to develop a “membership” scheme to generate regular income from Cycle Sisters’ participant network with incentives and benefits for members

Work with an external agency to secure income through digital fundraising
Corporate Fundraising
Working closely with the CEO:

Develop relationships with existing corporate partners, ensuring partners feel valued and are receiving regular updates

Research and identify new corporate fundraising prospects. Develop relationships through networking and representing Cycle Sisters externally.

Create tailored packages to secure in-kind and financial support from corporate partners

Develop ideas for earned income services for corporate partners e.g. led rides
