A bit about this role
Our education speaker volunteers have the important and exciting role of raising awareness of Cats Protection. They deliver pre-prepared talks, help spread messages around feline welfare and act as the voice of cats in their local communities. They also deliver talks to both adults and children in a variety of settings. Interacting with children is especially important, as they are the cat owners of the future, and by building their understanding and knowledge we can make the world a better place for cats.

Time expectation
The hours are flexible to fit around your other commitments. Each talk can last between 30 minutes and an hour, not including travel time. Availability of talks vary by location and season and some audiences may request more than one talk. Talks are given during the day and in the evening - during the week and on occasional weekends.

We are looking for a Program Coordinator for our Adult Education Program based in Ioannina, for a minimum commitment of 6 months.
In this role, you’ll be coordinating the implementation of language classes and associated tasks at two refugee camps: Katsikas and Agia Eleni.
The majority of the students are from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The sites have two to four English classes each day, which are differentiated by English ability from A0 to A2.
Role description
You will…
- Coordinate and manage daily operations of the adult education program
- Develop the program in coordination with the Programs Manager
- Assess impact and effectiveness against program objectives
- Ensure that teachers are equipped with the necessary knowledge to complete their administrative tasks to a high standard and in a timely fashion
- Conduct regular class observations, providing teachers with quality feedback on their teaching
- Provide new teachers with key insights into language teaching in the refugee context
- Ensure inductions to and exits from the education team are smooth and effective, including successful handover of classes between teachers
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent Second Tree in relevant external meetings
- Capture and compile monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) reports in line with program deadlines

Placement Volunteers at the British Red Cross are highly valued for the skills and energy they bring. We aim to provide our placement volunteers with an insight into the daily workings of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. They will have access to relevant in-house training and development opportunities during their placement with possible ad hoc opportunities to get involved in other areas of activity.
Your role as a placement volunteer will help make a great contribution to the work of the British Red Cross. You will take responsibility for achieving specific objectives that are agreed with you within one of the various departments across the UK. You will have a real responsibility and place in the department, bringing some of your skills and experience to the role; you will also have the chance to develop workplace skills. While we don’t offer voluntary internships, we are happy for you to describe yourself as an intern on your CV, if you feel that would be helpful.
Hours: The placement is due to run for a period of 4 to 6 weeks. The placement will take place across 2 o 3 days, flexible hours, Mondays to Fridays 9am to 5pm. The volunteering hours are negotiable to balance your needs and what can be achieved in the role.
Location: The placement will take place on a remote basis, from the volunteer's home, but there may be occasional travel to London and/or other regional offices to attend and support at meetings.

Our free humanitarian education aims to support educators across the UK with teaching resources, session plans and professional development courses. One of the key parts of our programme is our resilience topic, including resources which help young people to cope with challenges.
We are looking to improve our resilience resources in co-production with young people. This volunteer placement would be involved in running the co-production sessions with young people from across the UK, gathering insights and ideas. The role will assist our content development team to implement these ideas by creating new humanitarian educational resources.
We want to ensure that our resilience building resources are relevant and exciting for young people, including accessible formats of learning and focusing on challenges young people are really facing. Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and execute the Education & Skill Development strategy and service line:
• Workshop Coordination: Organize quarterly workshops on key topics such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and job skills, ensuring these sessions are informative and engaging for the community.
• Mentoring and Work Experience: Facilitate biannual mentoring events, pairing community members with experienced mentors. Arrange work experience opportunities to enhance vocational skills and job readiness.

2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of the number of workshops held; the participant satisfaction rates; and the number of educational resources sponsored. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.
3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams:
• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establish alliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire education and skill development resources, speakers or information.
• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Education and Skill Development service line. Henshaws Specialist College in Harrogate is a transformational place. Through our personalised approach to education, learning and care we empower children and young people living with a disability to progress and live life the way they want.
Position
We are currently seeking a non-executive committee Governor with experience of Special Education Needs in Further Education, an understanding of education in a residential setting would be desirable, to join our College Governance Board, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
This is a voluntary role and as such is unpaid, however reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

What we are looking for:
· A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort, including attending Board meetings 4 times per year in Harrogate (remote attendance is possible) and join a sub-committee of college that meets termly
· Willing to take an active role in the strategic governance of the college
· Enthusiastic and have an interest in services for disabled young people
· Demonstrate sound independent judgement and integrity
· Have an ability to think creatively
· Be able to work effectively as a member of a team and to maintain good working relations
· Adhere to the Henshaws six key values, Informed, Sharing, Proactive, Inspiring, Compassionate and Empowering
· Knowledge or experience of physical or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential.

Your purpose will be to take a group of around 30 children/school children and their teaching staff, leading them through 4 activities in a day visit to, either Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, Coventry and The Parkridge Centre, Solihull. Sessions may include, Art in the Wild, Pond-Dipping, Teddy Bear Adventure, Den-Building, Mini-beast Hunting, Mammal Discovery and many more. Most Schools that visit us are KS1/Lower KS2 (Age 5- 8) although we do also cater for children and young people aged 3-18. Visiting schools choose their activities from a choice of pre-planned sessions.
Inspire is a London based careers and education based charity focussed on empowering young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to understand more about the world of work.

We believe all young people should have access to engaging, informative and inspirational advice on careers & the world of work. We inspire young people across London and beyond, through interactive programmes in schools, workplace visits, and face to face sessions with volunteers from our wide range of business partners.
