This role is designed to meet the debt advice needs of Oxford residents. The post holder will provide debt advice including benefit checks, ways to raise income and reduce overheads. Advice will be given by telephone/email, by appointment in person at our office, and to drop in clients at outreaches.

• A fully remote position may be considered for a candidate with relevant experience. 

Role purpose: to provide an effective and efficient debt advice service to local residents within the aims, policies and principles of the CA service.   

Key responsibilities:

• Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Use the Citizens Advice Information System to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information.
• Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions.
• Act for the client where necessary by negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available. 
• Signpost and refer internally and externally as appropriate in order to link clients into additional relevant support . 
• -Ensure that all work conforms to the office systems and procedures
• Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.

We're looking for:

• Experience of advice work in debt and benefits. Ideally also experience in a wider range of areas - for example, housing, employment, consumer and immigration.
• Ability to work sensitively with a diverse range of clients
• An understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients, particularly those who may be experiencing stress and anxiety.
• An ordered approach to your work and an ability to follow set procedures concerning casework and file management etc
• Ability to use IT in the provision of advice and the preparation of reports and submissions. 
• Good oral communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills on the telephone. 
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills and on preparing grant applications, reviews, reports and correspondence.
• Numeracy skills required to understand statistics and check calculations. 
• Ability to monitor and maintain own work to comply with set standards 
• An understanding of and commitment to the Aims and Principles of the Citizens Advice service including the services Equal Opportunities policies. 
• Ability to work independently without close supervision, to prioritise own work, meet deadlines whilst contributing to the wider Citizens Advice team.

The Associate Director of Local Fundraising is a senior role within the Income, Innovation and Engagement directorate; a highly ambitious and professional team which is working to grow income and strengthen the organisation’s voice across the UK as the leading end of life care charity in the UK. Marie Curie has ambitious financial growth targets and needs to drive net contribution, engagement and awareness if they are to achieve their fundraising ambitions and subsequently their service growth goals.

The primary focus of the role is to maximise the net contribution from local fundraising but also to  drive community awareness and engagement with Marie Curie.  This is a key role for Marie Curie, responsible for managing a team of over 100 people and having responsibility for over £20 million Income, the recruitment of legacy prospects, the delivery of fundraising events and the strategic approach of supporter facing volunteers.

The Fundraising teams based in communities across the UK are responsible for raising money, driving legacy sign ups, building event participation and profit and growing awareness and engagement of the need for and impact of the charity’s work amongst supporters and people who have the potential to support Marie Curie.  With all local relationships managed by this role’s teams, the post will ensure that supporters have a connected, seamless experience.

The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in a fundraising environment with a successful track record in increasing voluntary income or revenue. They will also have experience in developing both annual operational and three-year strategic plans, developing creative and innovative solutions and digital marketing and in working with working with volunteers and engaging local communities. This will be combined with a proven track record in managing large high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.

We're looking for 2 kind, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to join our Mental Health Service in Newham.

Support workers at Newham Mental Health Service will work within a multi disciplinary team, providing support to customers with a range of mental health and support needs. This will include support with emotional, social, physical & domestic needs. You will be skilled in engaging both customers and stakeholders and have a good understanding of the needs and diversity of this client group. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a therapeutic environment that at times can be challenging and provide quality, evidence based care and risk management strategies. You will be highly motivated and committed to continuous professional development. You will be committed to supporting customers through their recovery journey and skilled in engaging them with their move-on pathway. You will work flexibly to respond to emerging needs and effectively address the needs of the customer group.

The shift patterns for this role are 08.00 - 16.00 and 14.00 - 22.00. This includes bank holidays, weekends and national holidays.

What you'll do:

If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include delivering personal and physical care as appropriate

Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where customers have not yet developed the skills, to ensure they enjoy a high quality of accommodation

Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker

Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises

Monitor the CCTV throughout the shift

Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed

Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including e.g. accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, to enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities

Report any observations relating to customers welfare

Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements

Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times

Maintain digital and physical records as required at the project under the direction of the Support Workers/ management

Participate in team meetings/reviews and the general development of the service

Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned

About the role:
This hybrid role is based in Brighton & Hove, which includes a combination of home and office-based working. You will meet regularly with young clients throughout Brighton & Hove at safe locations of their choosing.

As a Children and Young Person's Housing IDVA you will:

Empower young survivors and support them to identify features and dynamics of domestic abuse
Work with young survivors aged 16-25 years, with a particular focus on cases where housing, homelessness and risk of tenancy breakdown is a factor
Hold a caseload of varying complexity, prioritising high risk cases
Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments
Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), acting as the voice of the young person and delivering on actions agreed
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, including child protection, child in need and others
Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and additional barriers to accessing safe accommodation that children and young people may experience
Take the lead on the development of responses to the needs of at-risk young survivors with a housing need, and the development of relationships and referral pathways with partner agencies in this area
Assist in delivering training, and provide workshops, consultancy and advice to other agencies as required

You will need:

An understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
A good understanding of housing legislation and accommodation options for young people experiencing housing insecurity, including social housing, private rented, and emergency placement
A good understanding of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management for children and young people at risk of domestic abuse
An understanding of safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
Experience of managing a complex caseload, prioritising work and dealing with competing demands demonstrating an organised and methodical approach to work
Ability to deliver indvidualised safety and support plans, demonstrating sufficient knowledge of risk reduction regarding harmful practices and modern slavery
Ability to deliver training sessions to professional agencies
Understanding and knowledge of and active commitment to promoting equal opportunities and diversity

We're looking for kind, compassionate and resilient Bank Support Workers to join our learning disabilities service in Hertfordshire. No personal care or experience is required, just the right values.

Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.
