We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT leader to bring together IT and Facilities functions for the first time with the UK’s leading fostering charity and membership organisation.

Position: Head of IT & Facilities

Location: Hybrid: home working with regular travel to London, or based in the London office with some home working

Salary: £47,000-£52,000 + London Weighting if eligible

Contract: Permanent, full time - 35 hours per week

What you’ll be doing:

As Head of IT and Facilities you will be responsible for developing and overseeing a cohesive IT and FM function that manages the organisation’s infrastructure, ensures high standards of security and value for money, and enables them to achieve the organisational strategy

Primary objectives of the role are:

• Develop a cohesive, customer-focused function
• Manage our infrastructure
• Implement and maintain appropriate security measures
• Lead supplier relationships and drive value for money
• Develop a programme of training and support

The position will mainly involve taking a lead role in designing and implementing research studies, assessments, evaluations, mapping and situational analyses relating to children. We are particularly interested in the candidate having a background in participatory work with children. International travel to the range of countries in which Coram International works is an essential part of this role and will be for periods of between 1 to 3 weeks (per mission), up to a total of approximately 3 months per year.

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Nevertheless, IPCs are accountable to the organisation for their professional standards and are expected to comply with Coram Voice Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines.

Please Note: the nature of associate work means that we cannot guarantee a regular amount of work, and complaints will be allocated dependent on the associate’s availability, location and the needs and demands of the individual case. Full time 40 or part time 20 hours per week

Monday to Friday with some evening and weekend work as required to meet the needs of the young people

As the Head of Youth Work, you'll take the lead in shaping the future for young people, guiding a dynamic team of Youth Workers to create a youth work experience that stands out. About You

You will:

• Be driven, hardworking, organised and equally comfortable engaging with young people and staff/volunteers.
• Have a sense of fun, plenty of energy but also a calm temperament and the ability to operate at a senior level
• Believe in young people’s potential and be proactive and can-do.

You won’t be afraid to get stuck in leading sessions yourself if needed, and you will lead on safeguarding within the organisation.

You will have experience of:

• Youth work, including in open access environments with young people aged 7-19 (up to 25 with additional needs/disability)

• Leading and managing youth work activities  
• Managing staff and volunteers, leading a team to achieve targets and key performance indicators (for example membership & attendance)    
• Managing budgets
• Managing conflict between young people and establish clear behaviour standards  
• Developing opportunities for young people to participate in decision making processes

About the service

Children and young people who are looked after don’t always have a trusted adult that they can rely upon for support, with many young people not having someone that they can talk to or trust.

Our independent visitor service provides looked after children and young people with an adult volunteer who spends time with them, offering support and friendship whilst being a positive role model to enable young people to build on their confidence and self-esteem, whilst helping learn new skills and raise their aspirations.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic IV Coordinator who will be responsible for the day to day running of the independent visitor service in Solihull and Bedford, splitting your time between these two services working 27 hours for Solihull and 8 hours for Bedford.

You will be responsible for managing and developing a pool of volunteers which includes the recruitment, training, and induction of new volunteers to become volunteer independent visitors, before matching them with a young person who has been referred to the service.

You will provide continuous support to volunteers to ensure that the service is being delivered to a high standard, and that children and young people are safeguarded at all times.

You will also be responsible for monitoring volunteer visits, budgets and ensuring that risk assessments are undertaken as required, whilst acting as a link between NYAS and the local authority by liaising with social workers, carers and other professionals.
