Cambridge Women's Resources Center (CWRC) is dedicated to empowering women through support, education, advocacy, and access to vital resources. We offer a safe and supportive space for women to develop skills, build community, and overcome barriers.

As we prepare for our annual Christmas campaign, we are seeking a proactive Community Fundraiser to help us secure the funding needed to continue our vital work. 

This post is for 18 hours a week with flexibility around working pattern and hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

Christmas Campaign Coordination 

• Plan, develop, and execute the annual Christmas fundraising campaign. 

• Create compelling messaging and materials to engage potential donors. 

• Coordinate with our team to ensure cohesive and effective campaign delivery. 

• Track and report on campaign progress, making adjustments as necessary to achieve fundraising goals. 

Donor Engagement and Outreach 

• Identify and engage potential donors from the public, corporate, and academic sectors. 

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing donors, ensuring regular communication and recognition of their support. 

• Craft tailored proposals and pitches to secure both one-time and regular donations. 

• Organise and attend fundraising events and activities to promote the centre and engage with the community. 

Regular Giving and High-Value Donors 

• Develop strategies to increase the number of regular givers, ensuring steady and reliable income streams. 

• Identify and cultivate relationships with high-value donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. 

• Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, moving them through the solicitation cycle from identification to stewardship. 

Corporate and Academic Partnerships 

• Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsors, and academic institutions. 

• Create opportunities for corporate and academic entities to support CWRC through sponsorships, employee giving programmes, or other philanthropic initiatives. 

Administration and Reporting 

• Maintain accurate records of all fundraising activities, donor interactions, and financial contributions. 

• Provide regular reports to the CEO and Finance Officer on fundraising progress and outcomes. 

• Ensure all fundraising activities comply with legal requirements and ethical standards. 

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a Christian mission organisation using light aircraft to deliver help, hope and healing in over 25 countries. For more than 75 years, MAF aircraft have been overcoming inaccessible terrain transporting mission and development agency staff, delivering urgent aid and medical supplies to transform the lives of remote and isolated communities. 

We are now seeking an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Philanthropy and Partnership Team Leader to join our team to support the development of relationships with high-net-worth individuals, a wide variety of trusts/foundations and corporate supporters. In this role you will be responsible for managing a high performing and highly motivated team, to engage and enhance relationships with individuals, grant making trusts, corporate and institutional donors delivering against ambitious income targets. 

Responsibilities Include

Strategic Planning

• To work with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to develop and deliver a Major Gifts strategy with a focus on increasing income to meet ambitious funding targets, and to deliver the strategy through annual strategic planning, setting clear targets and KPIs focussing on year on year growth
• To lead on a departmental strategy for generating a pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and major gifts prospects
• Develop the annual budget for the team and take responsibility for the monitoring of income against budget.

 Portfolio Management

• To work closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the CEO, Trustees and other stakeholders on prospect identification, cultivation and asks
• To personally manage a small portfolio of high-level donors, including institutional funders to secure five and six figure gifts and ensure their long-term commitment to the charity.

 Team Management

• To oversee the operation of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and to have direct line management responsibility for a team of four Relationship Managers, to ensure they are engaged, delivering agreed strategies, and meeting agreed financial targets
• To oversee all relevant fundraising activities, including research and analysis of current and potential prospects, ensuring that activity is data protection compliant
• To ensure the team maintains accurate records of relationships with major donors on our database, and to ensure that due diligence is carried out where required
• To over see the management of a range of events for supporters and prospects
• To support the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships with planning and strategy as required
• Represent the Philanthropy and Partnerships team at quarterly review meetings and other forums as appropriate
• Manage the department budget effectively to maximise the impact of MAF operations overseas.

In common with all senior leaders you will need to:

• To role model organisational values, beliefs, and culture - contributing to the shared spiritual life of MAF UK as a Christian charity by leading and attending times of Biblical reflection and corporate prayer.
• To encourage team members to attend, participate and lead in times of Biblical reflection and regular corporate prayer.
• To lead, coach and mentor members to ensure that team and individual objectives are met.
• To participate in planning in accordance with the MAF UK strategic plan and as outworked through matrix and project teams.
• To support team members participation in agreed matrix and project teams,
• To keep line manager informed of all relevant and timely information.
• To comply with statutory requirements for handling personal and sensitive data and ensure that good personal data handling practices are developed, reviewed, and implemented in the team.
• To abide by the Safeguarding and Conduct Policies, and all other MAF UK policies provided on the Intranet.
• If required to travel annually outside of Europe to attend a bi-ennial medical at an approved provider to ensure fitness for overseas travel.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Educated to degree level
• Success and significant experience of fundraising from generous individuals and trusts. Candidates with significant experience in a relationship management role may also be considered
• Demonstrable experience in building effective long term relationships and influencing with Major Donors
• Significant management experience leading a successful team to meet agreed targets and working at a strategic level
• Demonstrable understanding of the provisions of GDPR legislation and the implications for fundraising
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including presentation and training skills.
• Highly effective influencer and communicator at all staff and external donor levels. Able to build effective, collaborative, and long-term relationships internally and externally
• Positive and persuasive individual who can handle complexity, conflicting priorities, and difficult conversations.
• Ability to supervise, negotiate, motivate, and envision team members
• Highly effective verbal reasoning skills, proactive with great attention to detail
• Proficient skills in Microsoft applications

Terms and Conditions:

• Location: This role is base at the MAF UK Offices in Folkestone, Kent.  We welcome hybrid working in line with our flexible working policy, the needs of the business, the requirements of the role and your location. This will be discussed at interview.
• Working Hours: At least 36 hours per week, with 1 hour for lunch daily unpaid. Hours should be agreed with line manager.
• Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlement of 22 days per year and 8 paid public holidays per year.
• Pension Scheme: Non-contributory (10% of salary).
• Probation and Notice Period: 3 months each.
• Salary:  Specialist £53,500 per annum

The Head of Programmes is a critical role for the organisation, responsible for ensuring DEC funded programmes meet programmatic standards, are fully traceable, routinely monitored and comply with organisational procedures and institutional donors’ requirements. In addition, the Head of Programmes is also appointed as the Serious Incident Reporting (SIR) Officer, serving as the first point of contact for member agencies to report incidents regarding safeguarding, financial misconduct and reputational risk.

Externally, the Head of Programmes liaises with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Senior Response Officers, UN OCHA, Charity Commission, Emergency Appeals Alliance, Member Agencies including Humanitarian Directors and in-country colleagues.

Key responsibilities:

Communication and Collaboration

• Key point of contact with member colleagues regarding programmes finance, adaptive programming and DEC compliance, facilitating timely and accurate communication.
• Contribute to DEC functional and advisory groups, Board sub-committee meetings and Board meetings including participation in Humanitarian Directors meetings.
• As a key point of contact with FCDO SROs, develop and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship, and ensure timely delivery of all UK Aid Match MOU obligations.
• Strengthen and maintain colleagues understanding of DEC’s ways of working both internally and externally (DEC HQ members, in-country colleagues and local partners and key stakeholders).

Analysis and Reporting

• Provide oversight to the review and analysis of member charity appeal budget plans and financial reports with a focus on compliance with DEC policies and good practice guidelines to assess unusual variances and value for money considerations.
• Deliver and contribute to timely and high-quality infographics, reports and briefings for key stakeholders and institutional donors including Board of Trustees, FCDO and BBC.
• Manage & maintain investment in public transparency and demonstrate DEC’s contribution to the humanitarian sector, including reporting to IATI and UN OCHA Financial Tracking Service (FTS).
• Continuously develop, improve and manage DEC’s Knowledge Information Management systems (KIM), as user-friendly collaborating platforms that enhance learning and enable data analysis, visualisation and high-quality reporting.
• Collect, analyse and present accurate and timely data to help inform a rapid assessment of appeal Criteria 2 for both rapid onset and evolving protracted crises and contribute to the development of the Case for Appeal.

 Management and Leadership

• Holistic and flexible approach to any given scenario/context, whilst ensuring a robust process is followed, recorded and documented.
• Deputise for the Director of Humanitarian Programmes and Accountabilit
• Effectively line manage and provide leadership to Grant Managers and Programme Officers, contributing to the high performance of the Programmes & Accountability team.
• Manage the Appeal Surge Roster (external consultants) including overseeing recruitment and necessary training.
• As Serious Incident Reporting Officer, manage processes and support with onward reporting to key stakeholders including FCDO and Charity Commission.
• Manage service providers as required.

Breck Foundation 

Breck Foundation is a unique and dynamic organisation that makes a real difference. The charity was founded in 2014 in memory of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. We inform, educate and campaign to help young people and the wider UK public reclaim the internet from those who seek to harm others through it. Our educational programmes reach thousands of students, parents and safeguarding professionals each year.

The Project

Over the last few years, the Breck Foundation worked closely with Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Surrey and Tower Hamlets to train cadets as ‘Breck Ambassadors’, equipping them with the training needed to talk in schools to their peers about staying safe online and the key signs of grooming.

We are proud to take this successful project further having secured funding with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) to recruit and train up to 30 ‘Youth Ambassadors’ (for online safety) in schools across Sussex. The Youth Ambassadors will learn how to tell Breck’s story and empower young people with the tools they need to stay safe online. Working closely with schools to enable the students to become Online Safety Ambassadors for their school community, advocate for their peers and to be a voice of expertise and counsel. You will work with schools and community groups to generate impact through Breck’s story (on online grooming) and other important topics related to children’s online safety.

This flagship project for the OSPCC will launch in April 2025 (Coordinator starts in January 2025) and run for at least 12 months, with potential funding up to three years. We hope it will set a precedent for others to follow our lead and develop similar programmes for young people across the UK.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive and managing a small team of Finance and HR personnel, the Head of Finance & Resources position is broad in scope. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of RHSU strategy relating to finance, people and culture, governance and digital infrastructure. The post holder will ensure the delivery and resourcing of operating plans, policy and operating procedures to ensure that the Union delivers its strategic objectives across its support services. The position sits on the Senior Leadership team and will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of our 3 new strategic enabling themes: People & Culture, Well Governed & Sustainable and Physical & Digital Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities are centred around, but not limited to:

Strategic Management and Leadership – including supporting the delivery of the Union’s strategic plan, leading on financial planning, overseeing compliance and forming part of a strong Leadership Team with other senior colleagues and Sabbatical Officers.

People Management – including leading on the People & Culture plan, leading on recruitment and embedding a learning & development culture at RHSU.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who is ideally at least part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA. An excellent understanding of charity finance, regulation and governance is required, along with experience of senior level management and leadership in a similar sized organisation. 

Skills and experience with developing strategic plans, project/change management and leading on digital infrastructure projects would also be very useful experience to succeed in the role. Strong commercial acumen would be beneficial too -against a backdrop of constantly changing commercial considerations and wider Higher Education sector pressures. 

Whilst core finance skills are essential, both at a strategic and operational level – experience in a broader resources role covering HR, IT, governance or compliance would suit this post well. A demonstrable interest and commitment to a values-driven and student-led organisation is also required.

An exciting brand new role in a busy supporter experience team you are responsible for delivering income growth, leading on fundraising campaign delivery including acquisition and retention activities.

Managing a team of two (an officer and an assistant) you will be overseeing the team day to day as, together, you develop creative campaigns working alongside the rest of the fundraising and communications team. At Freedom from Torture, working with people with lived experience is crucial. Your team will be at the forefront of telling survivor's stories to our supporters and working closely with the survivor directorate.

Working with live public campaigns you will be directing the team to closely follow schedules and sign off plans, as well as managing external agencies. Our bank of retention and acquisition work currently includes print appeals, digital campaigns, inserts, press ads, social media and telemarketing acquisition, online lottery, raffle and more! You will be driving new ideas, innovation and strategies with an organisation that likes to say yes!

As you direct the marketing team, it is essential you'll be able to use your fundraising knowledge to edit copy and feedback on campaigns based on your experience of how to uplift response. This knowledge will be developed in your ongoing regular work monitoring the teams results and performance, putting these learnings into action with the creative, data and planning decisions that you make. Linking creative decisions with data and analysis is key and we welcome the new ideas that brings. Of course, it is also essential for the Fundraising and Marketing Manager to be knowledgeable with up to date compliance and data regulations.

It is essential you have great communication and people skills with experience of managing a busy workload and a busy team working to deadlines.

 This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations. In addition, the role will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships for the DEC through thorough research, and through the prospect development cycle, to raise money for DEC appeals. In addition to appeal fundraising, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for delivering on a new core cost fundraising strategy, in close partnership with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships.

Demonstrable, transferable trusts and foundations experience and knowledge, (preferably within the humanitarian & charity sector), will hold you in good stead for this exciting new role.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Development: Develop and manage the trusts and foundations portfolio and create compelling proposals for future appeals and core costs income. Showcase new ideas and innovative approaches for growing and developing a pipeline of new prospects. Develop engaging stewardship plans.  

Administrative Compliance: Lead and manage, robust and professional grant management, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose, streamlined and accessible. Remain compliant with grant terms and conditions, ensuring you are clearly communicating the unique contours of the DEC model whilst providing comprehensive and inspiring impact reporting.

Relationship Management: Maintain regular contact and collaboration with internal teams to collate a high-quality suite of communication materials and stewardship plans specific to a trust and foundation audience. Proactively reach out and build long-lasting relationships with funders to reach ambitious fundraising targets.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, measure and evaluate progress against the DEC’s strategic goals and funds raised from trusts and foundations. This exciting Project Assistant role will work closely with the Programme Development Officer to support the development and delivery of Reclaiming Our Power. Reclaiming Our Power will explore the impact of racist microaggressions on mental health through creative peer support workshops with people with lived experience of racism, and will use learning to co-design and co-deliver learning opportunities to people working in the public and charity sectors delivering Glasgow’s services.

This project and role are funded with thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.

What does the role involve?

• Organising events including creative peer support workshops, volunteer meetings, and training sessions
• Supporting the co-development and co-delivery of tailored training to people training/working in public-facing services

The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention, is a newly developed role at the DEC, responsible for shaping and delivering new and existing supporter journeys for DEC individual, community and legacy donors, and leading a programme of improvement across all major contact points between the DEC and the public.

The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention will:

• Contribute to and develop DEC direct marketing strategies, including the refreshing, implementation and analysis of the DEC’s segmentation, to maximise future income and continually improve the retention of individual supporters for future emergency appeals,
• Lead on the production of retention and reporting back materials for individual and community supporters,
• Manage the development and maintenance of specific supporter journeys,
• Develop and oversee the materials and supporter positioning for a light touch and mainly reactive legacy marketing programme for the DEC.

• Develop and implement the direct marketing retention strategy, ensuring that past learnings are built upon, and new ideas are tested.
