For this varied and busy role of Events Manager we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills. You will be used to working across a number of projects and be able to prioritise your workload and manage your time effectively in this part time role. The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a national bereavement charity founded 55 years ago, providing peer support and information to bereaved parents and families, whose child has died from any age (from one month old to an adult son or daughter) and from any cause. ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a community organiser with a strong project management background, or a project manager who has trained as a community organiser to help us grow a new project, The Help Desk, while overseeing our Open Collective service. Open Collective is a platform which enables groups to transparently and collaboratively manage their funds. We fiscally host around 600 groups using OC – they are supported by a Programmes Assistant, who would be managed by this role. This will give you oversight of the service and provide you valuable insights into the needs of groups.
The Help Desk is a new project in SCN which will support our growing community of grassroots groups and movements within our ecosystem. Over the next 4 years, we are planning to build a strong, vibrant and supportive community amongst our groups, with access to resources, training and mentorship/networking and fundraising opportunities. You will be responsible for project managing the build-out of the Help Desk and developing and organising the SCN community. This includes monitoring progress and reporting against the funding secured. While some plans and activities have already begun, you would be expected to further shape the vision of the Help Desk, pivoting in response to feedback and learnings.
You will work closely across the Delivery Team to ensure that the Help Desk is relevant to the different types of groups we host, as well as the Head of Programmes, who you will support in consolidating insights for sharing with partners. Together with the Business Development team, you will also be responsible for exploring the income streams required for the following 5 years. You will also be managing the overall project budget alongside managing mentors, staff, volunteers, interns, and leaders, where appropriate.
ABOUT YOU
The role would suit someone that understands the needs of community groups and the pressure and challenges they face as they scale their impact, while also having agile and creative project management skills. A large part of the role is getting to know the groups and to support both the development of network weaving across the groups and building out the resources they need. Because of this, you will enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds, and have good problem-solving skills.
As you will have oversight of our Open Collective service, you will need to have some understanding of how community groups could use tech platforms to support their infrastructure and how this can relate to their impact. You will also be managing one member of staff and while you will be given training and support, some management experience is desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be open to learning and growing with us as we build our programmes and services. On top of seeking out partnerships and opportunities that will help SCN better support its community groups, you will be regularly holding spaces for groups to connect and feeding back any relevant insights to the team. You should have a good understanding of the power dynamics and community trauma that exists at this level of organising and be able to act as a bridge between SCN and the social impact of the groups.
As a small team working directly with the groups and to a project plan, you will be outgoing, proactive, very organised and good at managing various tasks at the same time. You will be keen to make an impact in a small team and be hungry for searching out opportunities to develop yourself, the Help Desk and the business.

This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations. In addition, the role will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships for the DEC through thorough research, and through the prospect development cycle, to raise money for DEC appeals. Administrative Compliance: Lead and manage, robust and professional grant management, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose, streamlined and accessible. Remain compliant with grant terms and conditions, ensuring you are clearly communicating the unique contours of the DEC model whilst providing comprehensive and inspiring impact reporting.
Relationship Management: Maintain regular contact and collaboration with internal teams to collate a high-quality suite of communication materials and stewardship plans specific to a trust and foundation audience. Proactively reach out and build long-lasting relationships with funders to reach ambitious fundraising targets.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, measure and evaluate progress against the DEC’s strategic goals and funds raised from trusts and foundations. Prepare regular reports for senior management and trustees on the development, progress and future strategic actions for trusts and foundations at the DEC.

This is a new role, working in a dynamic charity built on the aim of improving life for local people. We are a small, passionate team driving programmes to meet our community’s needs in North Kensington.
You will be responsible for overseeing Dalgarno Trust’s Programmes, and line managing our Community Champions Manager, Health Works Manager, Foodbank, Volunteer and Room Bookings Manager and Youth Programme Manager.
Purpose of the job:
- To maintain effective oversight of the delivery of a range of projects and programmes being managed by designated managers.
- To ensure performance management expectations are being met by each project and programme and reported to appropriate funders, including internal and external stakeholders.
- To provide leadership and direction to project and programme managers and work with other senior members of staff to achieve organisational goals.
Duties and responsibilities:
Service delivery management
- To keep abreast of key performance indicators expected to be measured and evidenced for each of the projects and programmes and keep under constant review the need for adjustments in processes to be able to achieve expected performance.
- To use Salesforce for monitoring and evaluating project outputs, outcomes, and impact for reporting to funders, including internal and external stakeholders.
- To support managers in understanding what information is required in terms of monitoring information expected by funders and the Board of Trustees.
- To develop and maintain a performance dashboard on all projects and programmes.
- To communicate performance information of projects and programmes (e.g. dashboard) regularly across the organisation and to internal and external stakeholders as directed by the CEO.
Human resources management
- To provide effective line management to designated staff, ensuring all necessary information about their time management, supervision records, leave arrangements, and other HR records (e.g. sickness) are up to date and available for management decisions and service delivery needs.
- To ensure performance targets, monthly one-to-one meetings, reviews, professional development plans are in place and in practice for each direct report.
- To work with other senior managers on creating management reports on workforce performance and development.
- To work with other senior managers and CEO to ensure organisational performance and service delivery information is helping achieve business development and growth.
- To provide leadership through coaching or other means to direct reports where this helps, is needed or achieves benefits for the individual and organisation.
- To promote and implement a culture that encourages proactivity among staff (e.g. learning from any potential failure and celebrating success).
Compliance and assurance
- To take responsibility for the Quality Assurance Mark ISO 9001 and aligning the actions from the Management System with wider organisational activity.
- To take part in the annual audit of actions for ISO 9001 and ensure any new actions are logged and communicated across the organisation as appropriate.
- To ensure all strands of responsibility under each programme is compliant and meeting legal and policy expectations (e.g. health and safety, safeguarding, data protection etc.).
- To ensure that controls on procuring goods and services for the organisation are always in place securing value for money. Strategic leadership and support
- To identify local and strategic issues pertinent to local communities and voluntary organisations.
- To influence/negotiate policies and ideas, projects and programmes of benefit to local communities.
- To effectively represent and where relevant and directed, form partnerships with organisations and / or external bodies, to develop growth opportunities.
- To contribute to maximising the income of the organisation by working with Head of Development and identifying opportunities and implementing necessary actions.

The primary focus of the role is to maximise the net contribution from local fundraising but also to drive community awareness and engagement with Marie Curie. This is a key role for Marie Curie, responsible for managing a team of over 100 people and having responsibility for over £20 million Income, the recruitment of legacy prospects, the delivery of fundraising events and the strategic approach of supporter facing volunteers.
The Fundraising teams based in communities across the UK are responsible for raising money, driving legacy sign ups, building event participation and profit and growing awareness and engagement of the need for and impact of the charity’s work amongst supporters and people who have the potential to support Marie Curie. With all local relationships managed by this role’s teams, the post will ensure that supporters have a connected, seamless experience.
The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in a fundraising environment with a successful track record in increasing voluntary income or revenue. They will also have experience in developing both annual operational and three-year strategic plans, developing creative and innovative solutions and digital marketing and in working with working with volunteers and engaging local communities. This will be combined with a proven track record in managing large high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
