In this varied role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager and admin team to ensure the smooth running of our Centre by managing administrative tasks, assisting with IT and communications, and supporting operations and fundraising initiatives. You’ll also play a part in amplifying the voices of our community through social media and helping with community engagement activites.

Mental Health: All of the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community. As a core member of our team, you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.
Baobab’s Model: Please read the accompanying ‘Baobab Clinical Context and Model’ document for a detailed introduction. It often takes a significant amount of time to understand Baobab’s model of working, which aims for rehabilitation and justice through attending to both the internal and external world of each young. It is important that you strive to have an insight to the experiences of both the internal and external factors impacting on the lives of unaccompanied young people attending our centre. It is also important that you understand the ways in which UK society and policy impacts on young asylum seekers (including invisibility, marginalisation, discrimination, and the fact of waiting in uncertainty for a long time).

Rainbow Migration, the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, is recruiting a Fundraising Officer to play a key role in supporting the effective delivery of our fundraising strategy.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation. We have grown rapidly over the last five years from a small charity generating £200k in 2019 to £833k in 2023. We are now expanding our fundraising team so that we can reach and sustain our target income of just over £1 million by 2027. The Fundraising Officer is a new and varied role that will work with all areas of the organisation and an opportunity to develop fundraising skills in a range of income generating activities.
We are looking for an individual with previous experience in fundraising or a related field with excellent writing skills and an ability to build lasting relationships with our supporters. You will support the delivery of our fundraising strategy as a whole with an emphasis on individual giving. You will also fundraise from corporate supporters, trusts and foundations and support the Fundraising Manager with other fundraising initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
· Support the development, implementation and monitoring of donor acquisition, stewardship and retention plans and strategies
· Plan and deliver individual giving campaigns and appeals
· Work with colleagues to ensure Rainbow Migration’s digital channels are optimised for individual giving
· Support community fundraisers and corporate supporters to deliver their fundraising activities, and attend and speak at events
· Prepare and submit funding applications and reports for small grants to trusts and foundations and other grant-giving bodies
· Keep fundraising materials up to date and develop new materials as needed
· Maintain the database, systems and record-keeping relevant to the fundraising function

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time (minimum 28 hours a week) or job-sharing will be considered. When applying, please state what hours you are looking to work. Occasional evening or weekend work is required, but with plenty of notice. Rainbow Migration encourages staff to maintain a good work life balance and has a TOIL system in place.
Salary: Starting at £30,236 with potential annual step increases up to £33,899 (pro rata if working part-time), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, the trustees consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April.
Location: Remote or from Rainbow Migration’s offices which are based in London between Vauxhall and the Oval. Hybrid working will also be considered. The successful candidate could work from anywhere in the UK but would be expected to occasionally travel to London and other parts of the country for meetings and events. Digital comms will be your thing as you will be creating and producing digital content, and managing the Trust’s website and social media accounts. A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.
Our Hackney Parent Support project is commissioned by Hackney Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings and parenting courses for families throughout the Hackney region. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.
We are seeking a capable Service Engagement Lead to manage, coordinate and support both the Infant feeding and Parenting course projects. This role is split between being out in the community and working from home, it will include regular travel across the Hackney borough (expenses will be reimbursed).
About the Role
Working closely with the Hackney Parent Support team, you will be responsible for the service engagement and promotion of our community-based services across Hackney. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:
· Line managing the paid peer supporters within the Hackney staff team.
· Coordinating and maintaining the active social media and Infant Feeding Services website.
· Advertising volunteering opportunities across varying platforms including social media and in person at local events.
· Provide clear guidance and information to potential volunteers on the roles, responsibilities and training requirements.
· Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Hackney area and ensuring all support groups are accessible and inclusive.
· Ensure that data collection and feedback is collected in a timely manner in an inclusive way.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.
Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires experience of giving breastmilk. The training can be undertaken within your working hours. There will also be training on the EPEC (Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities course) provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The role is 28 hours per week, with the hours worked across the week between the core hours of 9-5, however, will include occasional evening and weekends. This is role is based out in the community within Hackney with some home working.
