Job Purpose:
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the continuous development and delivery of a specialist service working in partnership with Central Northwest London NHS Foundation Trust, providing enhanced support to women with mental and physical health needs preparing to leave prison and resettle back in to the community. The Student Voice Facilitator will work within the Student Voice team to develop and deliver innovative representation practices, ensuring our members can exercise their student voice and influence university decision-making. This will be focused on Student Futures, a large-scale transformation portfolio King’s College London is undertaking. Student Futures aims to improve student experiences in key areas across the next three years. Responsibilities include:
FACILITATING QUALITY REPRESENTATION PRACTICES:
- Facilitate representation practices within Student Futures, both in person and online, in line with KCLSU’s Student Voice Partnership Agreement and Student Voice Design Framework;
- Lead on development of innovative facilitation methods to foster collaborative, productive spaces for student participation that are fit to respond to the issue at hand;
- Create toolkits, guidance, and other training materials to support the facilitation skills development across KCLSU and King’s;
- Develop and deliver training on facilitation skills for KCLSU and King’s colleagues.
SERVICE DEVELOPMENT:
- Work with Student Voice colleagues to expand the capacity and reach of the team across King’s;
- Support the development and delivery of an evaluation process for the facilitation of student voice within projects or service areas, ensuring monitoring requirements are met in order to demonstrate impact and track progress over time;
- Represent KCLSU’s Student Voice team and promote the Student Voice Design Framework to King’s colleagues and other relevant stakeholders;
- Create and deliver training, guidance, and on-going support for Student Officers and other student representatives on facilitation, student voice, and related areas, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.

Prison officers are the agent of change for many prisoners. Of all the staff in prisons, they spend the most time with prisoners, they set the prevailing culture in prison, and we know that the most effective prison officers have a hugely positive impact on prisoners. Unlocked Graduates develops outstanding individuals to lead rehabilitation, and in doing so raises the status of the prison officer and makes the frontline of prisons a place where cycles of reoffending can be broken.
We have successfully recruited, trained and placed six cohorts of over 750 high potential graduates into prisons across England and Wales. We are in the Times Top 100 Graduate programmes and feedback on our participants has been extremely positive: they are doing a great job. Over the next few years, we are planning further expansion. We want to do more work in the prisons we are in, and work with more prisoners in more prisons.
The Role
This role sits within the Unlocked Programme Team, which holds responsibility for designing and running training for our new cohorts as well as supporting them across their two years, to enable them to have the most impact possible.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate to support our Programme Team with a wide variety of tasks. The successful candidate will gain an insight into: delivery, curriculum, our work with our Ambassador community as well as the specific training required to become a prison officer.
Our main office is based in London (remote working may be able to be accommodated but this will be discussed with candidates on an individual basis). The programme is national and so some travel is required to Birmingham and Manchester.

JOB PURPOSE
The Children and Young People’s Mentor will work within the CYP team to deliver services relating to children and young people affected by Domestic violence and Abuse.
They will hold a caseload for direct 1-1 work with young people/ girls and deliver a programme of groups in schools to adolescent girls. Responsibilities will include recording of data, reporting and completing evaluations.
They will be expected to promote the work of the Rising Sun and take a share of responsibility in delivering or assisting with promotional work within the organisation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Service delivery
- Work 1-1 with young people (aged 11 to 15 years) affected by Domestic violence and Abuse
- Build positive working relationships with local schools to deliver this programme
- Hold own caseload and respond in a way that understands the needs of the young people the Rising Sun supports
- Work in a mentoring capacity with children and adolescents with a specific focus on domestic abuse and its impact
- Recognise the impact of domestic abuse on young people and families; showing empathy and understanding in working with these families and developing the capacity to adopt a trauma informed approach to the work
- Support and facilitate groups in schools and in the community focusing on healthy relationships, spotting red flags etc
- Work flexibly with young people and meet with them in a variety of settings such as schools, colleges and community centres, depending on their needs
- Work creatively and flexibly to help support a vulnerable and at times challenging client group.
- Build relationships with partner agencies such as social care, early help, schools, police and health services

- A relevant qualification in working with children and young people (Desirable)

This is a full time, fixed term role for an initial 9 month period, with the possibility of extension. The salary is £37,000 to £42,000 f.t.e depending on experience.
There will be some freedom for the person to determine their own working arrangements each week, within limitations, providing the work is delivered.

We are a virtual team who work from home and/or co-working spaces. We will support you to achieve a suitable virtual working environment. Some meetings are held face to face across Britain, so a willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays is desirable.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to supporting women and children who are impacted by domestic violence.
The independent domestic violence advocate will work closely with victims of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse, from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence at the highest risk and their children. You will be flexible, adaptable and enjoy face-to-face facilitation opportunities, which connect young people, support teachers and engage industry volunteers in a wide range of skills-building and confidence-boosting workshops.

The facilitator role is a freelance position. We offer flexible hours with delivery taking place during school hours/term time in schools, partner offices or community event spaces.
Our priority areas for delivery are in Scotland due to demand from our schools network. Please only apply if you can travel within Scotland to deliver workshops.

Safeguarding
The facilitator's responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Talent Foundry Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the facilitator identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, they must report this in line with the Safeguarding policy.
The facilitator will be subject to ID, DBS and criminal record checks.
