Position: POD36 Internal Communications Officer

Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide (However, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (it will include team meetings to London and Birmingham)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (flexible working available)

Salary: Circa £30,700 per annum (inner London weighting £3,950 per annum or outer London weighting £2,100 per annum may be applied in accordance with where you live)

Contract: This is maternity cover until 31 December 2025

About the role 

As Crisis’ Media Officer, you will play a key role in securing impactful media coverage that inspires the public and politicians to join our fight to end homelessness by raising awareness of our influencing campaigns and fundraising events. You will help to build Crisis’ profile by bringing to life our work, demonstrating how we end people’s homelessness for good through education, training and support with housing, employment, and health.

Your role will be creative and varied. You’ll work with our frontline staff to identify people facing homelessness who want to share their stories and empower them to do so. At Crisis we always champion the voices and experiences of the people who we support. You’ll help create bold and hard-hitting news stories to engage our audiences and bring to life some of our biggest organisational campaigns, like our annual Christmas appeal. You will also help make the most of reactive opportunities that come through to our press office and help build relationships with key journalists. 

About you 

You will have: 

• Experience of working within a busy press office environment/ PR agency or as a journalist. 

• Experience of supporting with or delivering impactful media campaigns or stories that have helped secure quality coverage in national and regional news outlets, as well as softer consumer features.

• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging copy for a range of audiences, including political, consumer, tabloid, trade and everything in between. 

• Experience of working with case studies, identifying and preparing stories for the media and empowering people to share their experiences.

• Strong news sense, with a good working knowledge of the UK media, including digital media production, with experience of creating digital first coverage and amplifying campaign messages creatively in the digital sphere.

We are looking for a proactive, experienced Data and Operations Senior Officer to oversee our data operations and support Bliss to raise more money to help babies born sick and premature.

Role Summary

One in seven babies is born premature or sick and needing care on a neonatal unit – this isn’t what most parents expect for their baby. Join the leading national charity dedicated to supporting babies, families and NHS staff at this critical time.

The Data and Operations Senior Officer is responsible for the daily management and effective operation of the Bliss CRM, Raiser’s Edge, as well as leading on key data projects to make the most of the insights and information captured in our CRM to maximise Bliss’ fundraising. This role also leads on the delivery and development of data processes which are smooth, timely and efficient, and works with stakeholders across the organisation - especially Fundraising, Finance and Digital - to ensure that colleagues have access to the right data and efficient processes to meet their needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to take ownership of Bliss’ data operations, helping to support our Fundraising department – and the wider organisation – to make the best use of our CRM systems, supporter data, and internal resources to raise more money and reach more families. About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

• A proven, demonstrable track record of submitting successful funding applications.
• Experience in successfully fundraising from one or more of trusts, foundations, high value donors and corporates.

This role is a remote role (must be in England or Wales) within a supportive and friendly team. As the Fundraising Officer for Community and Events you will:

• Support the delivery of a successful fundraising plan that aligns with Victim Support's vision, mission and values.
• Implement and support impactful activities associated with our Community, Fundraising Events and Individual Giving income streams.

The Head of Programmes is a critical role for the organisation, responsible for ensuring DEC funded programmes meet programmatic standards, are fully traceable, routinely monitored and comply with organisational procedures and institutional donors’ requirements. In addition, the Head of Programmes is also appointed as the Serious Incident Reporting (SIR) Officer, serving as the first point of contact for member agencies to report incidents regarding safeguarding, financial misconduct and reputational risk.

Key responsibilities:

Communication and Collaboration

• Key point of contact with member colleagues regarding programmes finance, adaptive programming and DEC compliance, facilitating timely and accurate communication.

The Senior Public Affairs and Research Officer will drive policy change to increase surplus food redistribution by engaging with stakeholders across government, media, industry, and academia. They will support FareShare’s public affairs strategy by producing well-researched briefings, organizing impactful events, and fostering relationships with key partners.

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to over 8,000 frontline charities and community groups. The Senior Public Affairs and Research Officer will be critical in advancing FareShare’s policy agenda, as outlined in the manifesto. Working closely with the Public Affairs, Policy and Campaigns Consultant, you will lead efforts to engage influential stakeholders, create compelling content, and coordinate high-impact events. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence national policy and contribute to meaningful change in the food redistribution sector.

As our Senior Scientific and Policy Officer - Animals in Entertainment & the Media, you will develop and implement a strategic plan to raise industry standards, improve legal protection, and shift public attitudes to improve the welfare of animals used in these industries.

The role is situated in the RSPCA's Wildlife Department but the scope of the work includes all animals, including companion animals, so you will work collaboratively across several departments.

• Generate and maintain RSPCA policies, strategic aims, goals and objectives relating to animals in entertainment and the media.
• Develop and implement a strategic influencing plan to improve industry standards, legal protection, and public attitudes towards animals in entertainment and the media
