We are looking for an experienced leader to run our Crosslight Branch, staff and volunteers in West Kent (with locations in across Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells), and to provide debt advice, case management, and money education to Crosslight’s service users.
Our ideal candidate has prior debt advice experience combined with experience of leading and supervising staff and volunteers. We understand that these are unique skills and therefore if you have leadership experience gained in other social welfare settings, there may be an opportunity to train as a debt advisor if you can demonstrate that you possess the skills, maturity and determination to become proficient in this element.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER (ISLE OF SHEPPEY)
HOURS: 18 hours per week (0.45 FTE)
24 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT
SALARY: £11,732 per annum pro-rata (£26,072 for 1FTE)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community Development Worker to work as part of our Oasis Hub on the Isle of Sheppey, to engage and work with the community by helping them to access Hub activities, and the social supermarket project.
Key responsibilities will be:
- To deliver the Sheppey Support Bus project and ensure its day-to-day operational tasks are fulfilled.
- To liaise with our community partners including supermarkets, Fairshare etc to support and provide for Oasis activities, including the Sheppey Support Bus.
- To monitor and evaluate activities using monitoring tools available to the team.
- To develop other opportunities that will enhance our offer to the local community.
The successful post holder must have:
- A relevant professional qualification in Community Work or able to demonstrate qualification by experience.
- Successful experience of working with complex communities.
- The ability to deal with private information and sensitive issues with a calm and confident approach in difficult situations.
- Ability to function in diverse settings and with a wide range of professional agencies.
- Self-motivation, resilience, excellent organisational/administrative and inter-personal skills are essential for this role.

Job Title: Information & Advice Helpline Officer (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 17.5 hours (Tuesday 9.30 - 4.00, Thursday and Friday 9.30 – 4.30)
(Some flexibility with hours/days may be possible)
Contract: Maternity Cover - Fixed Term to May 2025 (possible extension subject to funding)
Location: This role operates from our office in Thornton Heath
Salary: £8542.58 pro-rata from FTE of £25,627.74
Background to the Role
Do you have helpline or call centre experience? Are you good at communicating on the telephone? Do you enjoy helping people to find information and solutions to challenges? Are you approachable and a good communicator? We need you to join our high volume, friendly helpline team of staff and volunteers, answering calls and providing information and support to older people in Croydon.
Our helpline is a first point of contact for many older people and their families and carers as they tackle a variety of issues around finance, social engagement, housing and council tax, travel concessions such as Blue Badge and Taxi card. You will play a crucial role in answering our busy Information & Advice Helpline phone: listening carefully and sympathetically to callers, finding solutions to their queries or issues and. The role is varied and very rewarding, and no two days are the same.
Main Duties (but not limited to)
- Providing information and signposting to callers to our Helpline and to people enquiring by email
- Entering new client referrals on our database and recording each new enquiry on our systems
- Supporting and supervising volunteers within the I&A Team

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)
- Offering a friendly and professional first point of contact for people phoning or emailing Age UK Croydon’s I&A Service
- Listening carefully to what clients say and ensuring the response to every enquiry is centered around them.
- Finding out clients’ needs, by asking them open questions about their circumstances, and opening up opportunities to offer them holistic support.
