In order to achieve our vision we need a highly capable Director of Finance to build and improve on our high-performing finance function and to drive forward operational excellence.

Reporting directly into the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our financial strategy, long-term financial planning, and developing commercial strategies to maximise income and operating contribution. You will also have responsibility of cash management, risk management and governance. You will be the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for the organisation and will lead on Property and Procurement.

This is a varied and exciting role which will provide you with the opportunity of leading a well-established team of professionals, reporting on the financial performance of the organisation together with providing analysis, advice and support to facilitate decision making to deliver sound financial management.

You will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:

· Proven experience in a leadership role;

· Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;

· Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls

CLAPA supports people affected by cleft to take control of their journey, connect with others, and use their voices to impact the future of care. Our vision is that no one affected by cleft lip and palate in the United Kingdom will go through their journey alone.

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for providing families (parents/carers and children up to ten years) affected by cleft with opportunities to access accurate information, connect with each other and form supportive communities. They will champion CLAPA volunteers and will lead on the development and effective delivery of our volunteering strategy.

What's on offer:

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown.  Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. Are you ready to lead and develop this pioneering new project in partnership with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC). Do you thrive on building trust and engagement with young people, school communities and families?

As the Breck Foundation's new Project Coordinator (Pan Sussex), with the support of the CEO, you will lead the initial project set up, the recruitment of schools and young people, followed by all training and coordination of the delivery.

The post holder will need to reside in Sussex and be required to work from home permanently but willing and able to travel regularly to various locations across East and West Sussex. Occasional travel farther afield as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role, to deliver aspects of the programme and to engage with other stakeholders and colleagues.

Breck Foundation 

Breck Foundation is a unique and dynamic organisation that makes a real difference. The charity was founded in 2014 in memory of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. We inform, educate and campaign to help young people and the wider UK public reclaim the internet from those who seek to harm others through it. Our educational programmes reach thousands of students, parents and safeguarding professionals each year.

The Project

Over the last few years, the Breck Foundation worked closely with Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Surrey and Tower Hamlets to train cadets as ‘Breck Ambassadors’, equipping them with the training needed to talk in schools to their peers about staying safe online and the key signs of grooming.

We are proud to take this successful project further having secured funding with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) to recruit and train up to 30 ‘Youth Ambassadors’ (for online safety) in schools across Sussex. The Youth Ambassadors will learn how to tell Breck’s story and empower young people with the tools they need to stay safe online. Working closely with schools to enable the students to become Online Safety Ambassadors for their school community, advocate for their peers and to be a voice of expertise and counsel. You will work with schools and community groups to generate impact through Breck’s story (on online grooming) and other important topics related to children’s online safety.

This flagship project for the OSPCC will launch in April 2025 (Coordinator starts in January 2025) and run for at least 12 months, with potential funding up to three years. We hope it will set a precedent for others to follow our lead and develop similar programmes for young people across the UK.

About the Role

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. • To work alongside SLDAS full time Project and Engagement worker to develop and grow the outreach service.

• To work as part of a specialist team providing high-quality direct casework support, advice, information and advocacy to survivors of DA.

• To provide access to a full range of services for women from all communities, through the delivery of outreach sessions in discreet local venues by using creative and engaging methods with women from local communities concerned about the issues of domestic abuse and violence against Women & Girls for evaluation and development of SLDAS services and programmes.

EU Campaigner

Position Objective:

To plan and execute campaign actions across Europe to ensure the success of PETA’s anti-bullfighting campaign, with a focus on successfully ending the Catholic Church’s support of bullfighting.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conceive of, organise, and oversee disruptions, demonstrations, and other campaign projects
• Recruit and liaise with activists in Europe, with the aim of building relationships with and a network of key activists, and enlist their assistance when needed to deliver on campaign goals
• Stay informed of significant events and decision-makers within the Catholic Church and identify opportunities to advance the anti-bullfighting message
• Coordinate projects for PETA’s anti-bullfighting campaign, including producing new content, conducting research, and writing letters
• Work with the PETA US production team to create and redesign posters, banners, literature, and other outreach materials as needed
• Act as a spokesperson, representing the organisation at public-speaking engagements, in debates, and to the media and general public
• Maintain the volunteer and activist database
• Travel when necessary to help with demonstrations, tabling, and other events or hold such events independently when requested
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish, Italian, or French desirable

About Us

The Brazzaville Foundation (“the Foundation”) is a civil society and non-profit organisation registered by the England and Wales Charity Commission (registration number 1160693). It promotes and supports African initiatives in the following areas:

• conflict prevention and resolution missions with concrete actions such as the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Dakar 1 and the African Mediation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine;
• an environmental protection mission whose flagship actions include the assistance of the creation of the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin (signed in Oyo in 2016) and the support of “Elephant Protection Initiative” in favour of the fight against the ivory trade;
• a major multi-year, multi-disciplinary health initiative in the fight against fake and substandard medicines, which gave rise to the signing of the Lomé Initiative, a multi-country initiative aimed at combatting this scourge.

Role Overview

The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the foundation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with charity law, and supporting its mission through effective financial management.

You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making by senior staff and trustees.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping

• Perform regular bookkeeping tasks in a timely manner including:

- Accounting for purchase invoices coding to the correct activity and account code;
- Accounting for income receipts to the correct fund – restricted or unrestricted and account code
- Monthly payroll – and journal to correct activity and account code;
- Monthly pension submissions;
- Accounting for direct card payments;
- bank reconciliations – sterling, Euro and other currencies;
- accounting for accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis;
- regular review of accounting transactions to ensure all transactions tracked correctly;
- proper knowledge and application of fund accounting.

2. Statutory Accounts

• Preparation of Statutory accounts to comply with Charity and Company law
• Preparation of backing documentation for audit purposes;
• Co-ordination with auditors during audit process to ensure necessary adjustments posited correctly where appropriate.

3. Finance Management

• Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure efficiency, stability, and good governance, including record-keeping to provide a clear audit trail.
• Conduct detailed analysis of different charitable activities and funds, managing both restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a timely manner, highlighting significant points and discussing them with senior staff and trustees.
• Monitor financial activity against specific projects and funding streams, providing regular updates and analysis.
• Conduct an annual review of internal controls to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as an accountant in the charity sector or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of charity law, including handling restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in preparing financial reports for senior management and trustees.

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.

• Familiarity with the requirements of funders and the ability to monitor financial activity against specific funding streams.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with deadlines.
