A great opportunity has risen for a Specialist Respiratory Dietitian to become part of our helpline team.  Our helpline is open Monday to Friday, and this position provides the flexibility of locum work allowing you to choose days based on your availability.  In this role you will be part of a frontline team who make a real difference daily to those people living with a lung conditions.

Asthma + Lung UK is the only charity in the UK fighting for everyone with a lung condition, aiming for a world where everyone can breathe with healthy lungs. You will work as a member of the helpline team providing respiratory nutritional support to people living with a lung condition, as well as their relatives and carers. The role will involve communicating with service users through providing telephone support on an individual basis and presenting educational sessions to attendees of our support groups.

You will have recent experience in nutritional care in a primary, secondary or tertiary setting. IT skills are essential and experience of a customer relationship manager system (data recording system) an advantage.

About the Role

This role will lead on the day-to-day operation of the accounts receivable, credit control, accounts payable and cash management functions.  You will be required to work closely with the financial controller and other members of the Finance Team to ensure that processing in these areas is complete, accurate and compliant, and supports the timely preparation of management accounts. You will also work with colleagues from across the organisation and key external stakeholders to ensure that income is received, cash is held and monitored following the Charity’s internal financial controls, and all legal and regulatory requirements are complied with.

There will be a need to exercise good leadership and management skills and be able to prioritise and delegate effectively to the Finance Assistants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the day to day operations of the sales ledger function
• Responsible for ensuring invoices are raised on time and in line with agreements with funders
• Responsible for the collection and recording of all non-rental income, in accordance with the charity’s income and internal controls policies
• Main point of contact for queries regarding non-rental income sales invoices
• Monitor all cash transactions and ensure they are recorded on the Finance system on a timely basis
• To lead on the day to day operations of the purchase ledger function
• To manage the preparation of the weekly payment run, ensuring that all due items are included
• Review nominal ledger activity and post journals for on a timely basis to ensure ledger information is accurate and complete in line with month end timetable
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of month end reconciliations for allocated balance sheet codes including Fixed Assets, bank accounts, debtors, accrued and deferred income

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

· Part-qualified accountant or extensive and demonstrable experience in a variety of financial roles

· Experience in the preparation of accounts to trial balance stage

· Credit control experience

· Excellent IT skills, and an ability to identify opportunities for efficiencies through automation.

· Ability to use initiative, make sound decisions and prioritise effectively to ensure that outcomes are met

Fundraising Consultancy Role

In order to achieve our objectives, we are seeking a Fundraising Consultant to develop and implement a strategy to:

• Diversify our funding base and raise new grants and donations to support our work;
• Raise specific funding to develop a small team of Regional Champions in the regions of the UK, working part-time to grow our network of Single Friendly Churches;
• Secure grant support to refresh our research in order to identify the issues facing single people in the Church and how ‘single friendly’ churches are across the UK.

The Fundraising Consultant will regularly engage with our UK based team and provide quarterly reports to our Trustees. Ideally the Consultant will have the necessary skills to process Gift Aid claims.

The target for funds raised within 12 months is £100K. This will require creativity and a range of initiatives, targeting different potential funding sources.

• Experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies for charities;
• Able to provide evidence of significant success in fundraising;
• Record of working collaboratively with teams;
• An understanding of Christian culture and the different Christian traditions;

This is a training position with the post holders undertaking training at Kings College London as well as working in our face to face frontline Mental Health Support Teams in schools and/or community services. You will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The post holders will use their newly developed skills to support children, young people and parent/carers who are referred into the MHST or community services and you will receive clinical supervision to support your professional development.

Information about the Training & the Job Role
 

This is a fixed term post with this training year funded by the NHS. After successful completion of the course the fixed term training contract will end however we will seek recurrent funding. Applicants will be encouraged to stay within their existing service providers or apply for vacant posts within our services and will be provided support and advice in job applications.

This full-time role will be best suited for applicants who are able to balance a busy work and study schedule, with frequent travel across different sites for university and work. You will be an employee at CDI or OTR but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study and perform at academic level. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work). Protected study time or teaching days are typically 2 days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near the start) and will be a mixture of in person and online sessions. Applicants must be willing to travel into London to attend their lectures.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Young Person Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT) Education Mental Health Practice (EMHP) & Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP)

All applicants to the programmes above will be required to undertake Postgraduate Diploma level training at Kings College London alongside a work placement. Please note that you will need to submit an application form to Kings College London for a place on the Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Young Person Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT), in addition to the job application that you make to us. It is strongly advised to submit an early application to prevent the delay of a decision.

Following success at the job interview all trainees will be required to attend teaching for up to three days per week for one year. Teaching and lectures will be mostly based at King’s College London Campus in Denmark Hill. Students will be taught using a combination of lecture style workshops and small group seminars. Assessment on the programme will comprise of a combination or written, oral and video assessments. On successful completion of the course, students will graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice or Children’s Wellbeing Practice.

Role Requirements

Site wide general housekeeping service – ensure that the housekeeping services is of an acceptable level and is consistent across site.

• Carry out a cleaning service in allocated buildings/rooms/areas ensuring that daily tasks are completed according to the standard operating procedures in relation to the cleanliness/hygiene standards.
• Follow infection control procedures whenever carrying out duties and ensure procedures are followed should there be an infection control outbreak.
• Liaise with the Housekeeping Supervisor and House Staff on a daily basis – carrying out special requests in relation to Housekeeping.
• Ensure safe storage of cleaning materials and equipment and sufficient stock is maintained – informing the Housekeeping Supervisor of stock requiring ordering.
• Assist in the cleaning of communal areas on a daily basis and cleaning of carpets, curtains and high dusting on a rotating schedule.
• Ensure that any repairs required to fixtures and fittings are reported to the designated Facilities Helpdesk as soon as possible and any issues are reported to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Assist in routine housekeeping audits as outlined in the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and ensure any works are to agreed service levels.
• Prioritise work to complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Assist other members of the Site Services and Facilities teams as required.
• Undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

The WiSER Project (Women’s Safe Engagement and Recovery Project) began in April 2018 and works across 8 London Boroughs. About the Role

 The work is an assertive outreach caseworker role; an Advocate will be responsible for supporting 5 women in their assigned borough. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the intersection between severe and multiple disadvantage and VAWG and a strong understanding of how this can make it difficult for women to engage with support. You will have worked with people experiencing various aspects of severe and multiple disadvantage: homelessness, substance use, mental health issues, insecure immigration status, prostitution, offending history and children taken into care.

About You

• Demonstrable experience of working with people affected by VAWG
• Experience of risk assessment, risk management, and safety planning with victim/survivors including those at high risk
• Experience of working with people affected by severe and multiple disadvantage: homelessness, substance use, mental health issues, insecure immigration status, prostitution and offending behaviour

Shift Pattern - 11-week rolling rota including weekends:

Early Shift: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

This position involves providing vital support to individuals with complex needs, including substance misuse, mental health difficulties, and criminal justice issues. Our clients, both men and women, often come with their faithful companions, and we accommodate a few dogs in the hostel.

Responsibilities:

• Key-working and case management for a caseload of 5 to 10 clients.
• Providing individualised support and guidance to residents, addressing their specific needs and challenges.

Role Purpose

GDI Hub are looking for a Research Assistant to support the team across its portfolio of projects with a diversity of clients, partners and stakeholders.

The Research Assistant role sits within GDI Hub’s Community Interest Company’s Research and Delivery Team, led by Mikaela Patrick, Head of Research and Delivery.

For a portfolio of clients (for example, Asian Development Bank, World Bank & IFC, Carbon Trust and Dubai Expo City), and projects under the UK Aid funded AT2030 programme cluster ‘Integrate - Strengthen the systems which make inclusion a reality’ (for example, Local production Systems of AT, Designing Inclusive Dignity Kits for Dissemination in Humanitarian Crises and Climate Resilient Cities), GDI Hub’s Research and Delivery Team:

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative, primary and secondary research
• Report academic research and grey literature publications with recommendations, blogs and insights reports
• Provide strategic and operational consultancy and technical assistance
• Design and deliver training and workshops, host and present speaker sessions

Experience and Qualifications

The successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Experience working or academic study in relevant fields (including working closely and collaboratively with disabled people and disabled people’s organisations is desirable), such as international disability inclusion, assistive and accessible technology, accessibility and inclusive design, disability innovation and global health; with willingness to grow expertise across these areas.
• Ideally have some experience (approx. 2-5 years) working on research projects and/or practice-focused research in a related field. This could be as part of further study, research or in a work capacity. Real work experience is desirable.
• A post graduate qualification or equivalent work experience, focused on an area relevant to disability inclusion, accessibility and / or assistive technology.
• Experience and confidence to independently conduct qualitative research and analysis, and literature reviews.
• Experienced in quantitative research and analysis with proficiency in designing and running quantitative data collection via surveys and analysing results to inform statistically representative and robust results. Confidence to independently conduct descriptive and correlational analysis using for e.g., ExCel, Python, R or SPSS.
• Independence in producing clear and insightful infographics and data visualisations.
• Excellent written communication skills, with ability to take on writing of reports using clear and compelling narrative; experience authoring lucid and informative insights and reporting.
• Excellent ability to communicate, work in a small dynamic team, and collaborate with individuals with diverse technical backgrounds and with external stakeholders.
• Confidence in client relationship management for organisation of meetings, email engagements and clients and stakeholder presentations.
