Summary
This role sits in the Philanthropy and Partnerships Team and will be pivotal to the growth of high-value income. It is responsible for helping sustain and grow our Trust and Statutory income, and for supporting strategic high-value fundraising across the wider Philanthropy and Partnerships team by identifying compelling funding asks and creating robust cases for support.

Main Responsibilities
You will use your understanding of what makes a compelling fundraising ask to develop 5-6-figure applications to trust, Lottery and statutory funders and to build robust cases for support and compelling proposition documents for the wider Philanthropy and Partnerships Team to use in approaching corporate and major philanthropic funders. Working closely with both fundraisers and delivery leads across the charity, you will identify appealing funding opportunities aligned with Diabetes UK's strategic priorities, and make sure the team have what they need to showcase these confidently to high-value supporters. You will also use cross-charity relationships to manage a portfolio of committed trust and statutory/Lottery grants.
This role would suit a natural relationship builder with excellent organisation and copywriting skills.
Ideal Candidate
You will be a highly skilled trust and/or statutory funder with experience of securing five- and six-figure grants and managing externally funded projects. You will have the versatility to use these skills to help meet the requirements of high-value corporate and philanthropic donors. As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in providing financial insight, advice and support to key stakeholders across the organisation. What you’ll do:
- Deliver a decision support service to managers and directors to deliver improved financial performance outcomes for the RCR.
- Ensure that partners use effective financial controls over their spend and income conforming to RCR’s policies and to optimise RCR’s outcomes.
- Support the partners in the production of outturn forecasts, budgets and multiyear financial plans that conform to RCR’s financial needs.
- Provide effective analytical insight and advice to partners and Head of Finance to maximise the return on investment and support for implementing change to improve outcomes.
- Supporting RCR’s regular financial and non-financial performance reporting with analytical advice, insight and commentaries.
- Support the wider finance team in delivering timely management information
- Help with system development within the finance team such as upgrades
- Cover for the Head of finance in their absence.
What you’ll need:
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)
- Experience of financial business partnering role or accounting role in comparable organisation.
- Excellent commercial skills, including the ability to lead or support negotiations and to influence and motivate others.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical/non-professional audiences.
- An enquiring and analytical mindset with the ability to spot risks, to dig further to follow up on problems and work through issues to offer practical solutions.
- Experience of collaborative work across functions to support others in delivering tasks and projects.

We're looking for two experienced bid and/or fundraising professionals to join our team as Bid and Fundraising Manager (internally known as Development Manager) on a permanent basis.
You'll be responsible for the development of a portfolio of donor relationships and will work across all parts of the proposal process from prospect research all the way through to submissions. Working in a hybrid way, you’ll be attached to either our Birmingham, London or Manchester office and will report to the Associate Director, Development. In line with our current ways of working, you’ll be expected to be in the office at least 1 day a month, in addition to team days and this may be reviewed by Ambition.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
To succeed in this role you'll have a good understanding of funding/proposal preparation processes and experience in securing funding opportunities in the range of £50k-£100k.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of successfully cultivating relationships with funders such as trust, foundations, local authorities, corporates and major donors.
Whilst experience of securing funding from research institutions and knowledge of England's education and charity sectors are desirable, it is not essential for applying to this role.

Step Up Hub leads a consortium, known as I AM Brent, that consists of six well-respected local charities who are working together to address the root causes and effects of violence affecting young people in the London Borough of Brent.
Programme Description
The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. The consortium is providing an array of positive opportunities for young people and support for families, including through tailored interventions. The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The work is focused on the Church Road Estate, Stonebridge Estate, St Raphael’s Estate, Chalkhill Estate and Harlesden Town Centre areas.
The Role of the Programme Manager
The Programme Manager will act as the glue between consortium members and provide a key link with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and the community. The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting consortium members with project deliverables where necessary, optimising the integration of provision, overseeing referrals, and brokering community partnerships. The Programme Manager will also schedule meetings and shared activities, provide secretarial support, and represent Step Up Hub and the consortium at relevant meetings.
In addition, the Programme Manager will:
· be responsible for line management of two other Step Up Hub staff members working on I AM Brent programme deliverables, a Network and Communication Lead and a Community Engagement Lead,
· manage, report on, monitor and evaluate the progress of interventions,
· report to VRU, attend VRU meetings, and cascade relevant information from the VRU to consortium members,
· be responsible for engaging stakeholders and community partners, identifying and leveraging their skills, expertise and assets, and leading on youth and community forums
· help engender an environment of trust and collaboration to support stakeholders and community partners engage positively with Step Up Hub and the consortium,
· manage a grant pot and support the delivery of small projects that are funded from it,
· work to actively promote the consortium and Step Up Hub’s activities, as per the organisational guidelines, through producing publicity materials and written reports for regular newsletters and by keeping the website updated,
· coordinate and monitor project budgets, working alongside the finance officer as required,
· ensure that safeguarding is central to the service delivery and is systemically built into case management processes,

The Senior Legal Advisor will provide high quality commercial contract drafting; advice and assistance to support the Personal Support (PS) Service Teams with the tendering and contracting process; working with different Commissioning Authorities of Social Care Services; and with the provision of suitable housing agreements
The Senior Legal Advisor will be required to review the tenders and contract terms in relation to the majority of PS contracts , some of which are multi million pound framework agreements, and put in place Direct Funding Contracts. In relation to Housing arrangements, the candidate will review and advise on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Housing Management Agreements (HMAs) with Housing Associations and other Housing Providers.
Qualifications required:
For this role you would need to be a Solicitor or Barrister qualified to practise in England (or comparable jurisdiction) preferably holding a practising certificate. Previous in-house experience would be viewed positively.
Essential key skills, experience & abilities required for this role:
· 5+ years PQE and experience in commercial contract law,
· Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
· Solid awareness of GDPR provisions
· Experience and good technical expertise with Commissioner contracts and in a similar role would be beneficial

Overall purpose
The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for developing, leading and implementing key aspects of our communications and engagement strategy. The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for campaigns, PR, content and storytelling, brand and creative, and plays an integral role in internal communications. They also support other external engagement activities, such as digital marketing campaigns, corporate partner acquisition and retention, and public fundraising.
Strong copywriting is essential for this role. You will be able to write, edit, and tailor content for different audiences, and publish it across various channels, including the website, social media, emails, and marketing materials.
You will enjoy variety. Your day could involve operational planning, developing a new campaign, briefing freelancers and agencies, finding compelling stories, creating our Impact Report, speaking with journalists, working on internal communications, or drafting social media posts.
The successful candidate will have strong emotional intelligence, relationship building and negotiation skills. They will be collaborative and creative, drive projects forward, work effectively alongside the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, and bring people together across the organisation. They will provide supportive, effective management to the Communications and Campaigns Officer, and be an internal advocate for the impact our Communications and Engagement can have.

About the Role
We are recruiting a new Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. This is a mid-senior level position in the organisation, reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Development. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.
Business Development – Portfolio Management
· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.
· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.
· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.
· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.
· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.
· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.
· Negotiate consortium roles on bids and develop a teaming agreement to reflect that.
· Lead on our response (with input from relevant colleagues) to direct approaches from clients to provide consultancy and research services.
· Regularly meet existing partners/clients to develop and maintain relationships and to proactively identify opportunities for further joint working.
· Develop relationships with potential new partners and clients.
· Play an active role in building and maintaining relationships with SDDirect’s Associates and network of consultants.
· Own and develop marketing materials that showcase portfolio work.
Bid Production
· Lead on and be responsible for technical and commercial proposal development (including budget), working closely with colleagues from our technical, project management and finance teams. For large bids, the technical and commercial roles may be performed by two people, though the technical lead will retain responsibility for the whole process.
· Produce job descriptions/terms of reference for specific roles on new programmes.
· Use company resources and networks as well as own contacts to identify and contract consultants.
· Agree and document all terms in-line with BD process.
· Ensure compliance requirements for each bid are in place, e.g. data protection, due diligence etc.
· Capture and share learning from tenders under areas of responsibility.
· Review contracts for work won against the contract checklist.
· Deliver handover to the Programmes Team for seamless mobilisation.
Communications
· Contribute to internal action to strengthen SDDirect as an organisation through participation in meetings, working groups and other fora.
System and Process
· Support the continuous improvement of BD Team performance.
· Actively participate in development of the BD Team annual workplan and objectives, taking a lead on agreed sections.
· Actively contribute to the development of BD Team systems and processes, proactively improving them where necessary.
