We are recruiting a Centre Manager for Malvern Cube.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and community aware person with excellent people skills to manage the Centre and lead our further development.

Malvern Cube is an exciting volunteer led community and arts centre run by Malvern Youth and Community Trust, a registered charity.  At Malvern Cube, our mission is to offer an inclusive environment for Malvern people where they can come together and share a feeling of community.  We do this by:

• Managing Malvern Cube to be an affordable, versatile and sustainable space.

We hire rooms to individuals, groups and clubs for educational, social and therapeutic purposes and our clientele are aged from 0 - 104!  Our annual footfall is around 3,000 (and growing!), and we have over 50 classes and activities running each week.  Our theatre space is well used by a variety of both well-known and amateur performers and we have three resident theatre groups.  We are proud of our in-house cafe, The Garden Cafe, which prepares nutritious, affordable and delicious food fresh on site every weekday, using locally sourced ingredients.  And our sister charity, Cube Youth, provides regular youth club activities and a Youth Café.

As well as our Centre Manager, the staff team includes our Administration Manager, caretaker and cafe staff.  We also have a great team of volunteers, and a strong Board of Trustees responsible for the governance of the charity. We receive no external funding and operate largely from hire income and successful applications for grant funding.

The role

As Centre Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of this busy, vibrant community centre and engaging with the community and hirers to present a welcoming, friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Your role will include:

• promoting Malvern Cube and what it offers, developing and maintaining a strong community presence and ensuring that the facilities are well used and hire income is maximised.
• ensuring the effective robust financial management of Malvern Cube and providing regular financial reports to trustees.
• leading and developing the staff and volunteer teams
• contributing to the development of Malvern Cube's strategic plan and leading on key aspects of its implementation.
• day-to-day interface with centre users, hirers and the general public.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to manage the Core Service, our largest multi channel advice activity.  The Core Service is mostly delivered by volunteers, the appreciation and encouragement of whom is imperative.  Equally imperative is ensuring that advice delivery meets regulatory, funder and internal standards.

As with everything we do, the Core Service must remain responsive to changes in the community’s advice needs, and also to how the community needs that advice to be delivered (for example the introduction of new channels or delivery points).  The post holder will therefore listen well, foster an appetite and readiness for change in our people, and be persistent.  In terms of day to day service delivery, they will thrive in the following environment (and support others to do the same); unpredictability, clients in difficult situations, multiple advice subjects, and incoming referrals arriving from different partners and channels.

Are you great at talking to people?

We’re looking for someone to train as a Community Energy Champion to be able to provide energy advice to people in communities.

You will visit clients at home to complete Home Energy Audits, providing information and individualised support, and facilitating access to options which will improve people’s wellbeing and energy security. This will include recommending grants and helping complete applications and forms.  

As a Community Energy Champion, you will deliver face-to-face and virtual energy workshops to parent groups, carers groups, community groups and others. There is also the opportunity to  work with energy and water providers and other organisations to arrange themed workshop sessions.

This role will suit someone with excellent communication, planning skills, time management and an adaptable working style. Applicants should have relevant experience of delivering information and advice to a range of client groups. You must be confident using IT and will be trained to use our client database.

This is a part-time role (22.5 hours) and is 6 month fixed-term (possibility of extension) based at hub in Lewisham but also travelling across South London to carry out community and home visits. Own car would be an advantage.

Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects. The role

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

With a strong understanding of young people’s services and a commitment to quality youth work, the post holder will create and maintain effective systems linking face to face interventions with the capturing of robust and accurate outcome measurement data.

The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the Targeted 1-1 offer as part of the IYS offer in Knowsley including line management of designated staff, financial management, and networking with other key services.

The post holder will support all aspects of the wider IYS ensuring that MYA’s internal systems which govern finance, purchasing, recruitment and quality control are followed closely, while acting as a key figure in connecting Knowsley operations with Head Office and Support Services.

COMMUNITY HUB LEADER

Oasis Hub North Bristol

Full-time (40 hours per week, 1 FTE), Permanent Contract

Salary: £35,217 - £39,647 per annum

Oasis is looking for someone who can combine an entrepreneurial flair and excellent leadership skills to become the next Community Hub Leader supporting the established Hub at North Bristol. 

The post holder will lead the development of the Hub, based in the Lawrence Weston area of Bristol supporting the Oasis Academies and wider local community, and to hold the vision of integrated community delivery, which will include a range of services such as family support, volunteering, youth mentoring, deliver a food pantry, community events and a toddler group.

This is a key role as you will be responsible for strategic oversight of the hub charity, ensuring the youth and community work supports the work of the academies, working alongside other local Oasis leaders such as Principals to develop one joined up local vision for the Hub.

A significant part of this role will involve fundraising and business development, working with local people to develop and grow the charity and local community movement.

We are looking for an experienced community leader who enjoys project and budget management, but also has a deep understanding of community work. A degree or professional qualification is valued, but we also value extensive relevant experience and being able to demonstrate an embodiment of our ethos and values.

Change Mental Health is a leading national mental health charity providing unique support to people with severe and enduring mental ill health. With over 50 years’ experience across Scotland, we believe people affected by poor mental health and illness deserve the highest quality of support in the community and that every person has the right to be valued and to share in the opportunities, challenges, and joys of everyday life. 

The Community Link Worker service collaborates with selected GP surgeries, supporting adults over the age of 18 through social prescribing. Referrals are received from the GP to our Community Link Workers when there might be a concern caused by social factors, rather than a medical problem. The service focuses on improving health outcomes for people experiencing stressors in their lives due to social problems, which could lead to poor mental health.

As a Community Link Worker, you will work directly with people referred to the Community Link Worker Service from their GP Practice who require immediate or on-going emotional, practical or vocational support in order to deliver the best possible health outcomes. 

This post works directly with people using the service to develop and review personal support plans. You will work closely with other members of the Community Link Worker team, colleagues in Primary Care and representatives of community-based groups and organisations, to achieve outcomes as defined by your line manager. 

Within the Community Link Worker team there is a clear line management structure which supports and shapes the practice. The post will contribute to an environment where people can improve their health outcomes, establish improved connections in their communities, and enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Work as part of a team building positive working relationships

·        Work closely with colleagues in Primary Care

·        Coordinate and refer service users to resources in the local community and to statutory and non-statutory services as appropriate

·        In partnership with service users, design, implement, and review outcome focussed development plans to enable service users to achieve their identified goals

·        Employ a number of appropriate intervention strategies including positive communication skills

·        Ensure ongoing risk assessment is integral to my practice to ensure the wellbeing of service users

·        Utilise group work skills which bring people together in a safe environment 

·        Awareness of appropriate professional boundaries including confidentiality 

·        Understanding of the requirements of Health and Safety in the workplace and follow Change Mental Health policies 

·        Ensure that careful and ongoing review systems are in place and maintained

Essential Criteria:

·        Educated to SVQ level 2 or have relevant experience working in health and social care

·        Able to plan and prioritise workload

·        Professional self-awareness and able to seek support and advice from my line manager appropriately and participate in supervision and support meetings positively

·        Able to liaise confidently with statutory and non-statutory agencies

·        Empathetic

·        My personal and professional value base is consistent with the aims and objectives of Change Mental Health

·        Demonstrate genuine regard for service users and their families 

·        Have good I.T. skills and can produce accurate case notes 

·        I am enthusiastic to develop my knowledge and skills 

·        Full, clean, driving licence and access to a vehicle 

Desirable Criteria:

·        Experience of working with people affected by mental or physical health issues

·        Experience of community-development work

·        Experience of working in a SSSC Registered Service

·        A learning and development portfolio which evidences my skills and knowledge

General Duties 

·        Act in accordance with Data Protection legislation.  Ensure all records, personal, staff and client data are managed in line with Data Management and Information Governance policies

·        Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

·        As with all employees, workers and volunteers; to encourage people to join Change Mental Health as a member, donor or activist

·        To act in accordance with the charity’s Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies and to notify your line manager promptly if there are any concerns

·        To participate in regular supervision and appraisal and undertake any relevant training as appropriate to the role

The Youth Leadership Programme Manager will work on a nationally funded project developed in collaboration with local young people, NHS North East London, and the University of Hertfordshire. They will play a key role in supporting young people who live in the area, and the adults who work with them, to learn and work together to explore how participation can improve the health and wellbeing of local young people.

The role will manage our Young Advisors Team, supporting them to develop the skills, confidence and agency to play an active and equitable role within the project.  The project will be guided by the values of co-production (being human, inclusive, transparent, and challenging) to ensure that all forms of experience are valued equally, and power imbalances addressed openly. 

The post requires a high degree of flexibility around working days and hours as well as the ability to travel within North East London to support the meaningful involvement of young people in the project.
