As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of People and Culture will work in a spirit of mutual accountability with fellow directors, taking strategic leadership of Turn2us’s People and Culture Directorate. You’ll have responsibility for strengthening our culture and supporting all our people managers to attract, develop and retain colleagues who are committed to our values and guiding principles.

About the charity: Cavernomas look like raspberries and are found in the brain and spinal cord. They're formed of abnormal blood vessels with thin leaky walls, which can bleed at any age without warning. 1 in 625 people are thought to have a cavernoma, and whilst most people won't experience symptoms 1 in 2,700 do. Symptoms can include haemorrhages, seizures and other neurological problems. Treatment involves 'wait and see', neurosurgery or stereotactic radiosurgery; with no medications currently available.
Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK) is a member-led organisation, run by and for those impacted by cavernoma with more information available on our website. We work from a model of empowerment, recognising the value of our members’ lived experience to provide mutual support, improve standards of care and drive research into finding a cure.
Since the charity was founded in 2005 it has grown from a volunteer-led organisation based in Dorchester to a UK wide registered charity that now has 2 part-time permanent staff, looking to increase to 4 Part-time staff (all home-based), 50+ volunteers, and 4,000+ members. About the roles: The Member Support Assistant is responsible for assisting our Volunteer Manager with administration relating to the support of the charity’s 4,000 members and volunteers. This includes offering a professional service to members of CAUK, typically via phone, email, online, chat, or on occasion in person. The role involves supporting the membership and volunteering processes, ensuring all admin is accurate and up to date. Over time the post-holder will be expected to build a good working knowledge of members and volunteers. The Events and Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Charity Manager with the administration of events alongside some general office activities for the charity. Union Chapel has been running an important project to assist asylum seekers resident in Islington contingency hotels.
With funding made available by Islington Council, we provide wraparound support in the form of orientation workshops; health and wellbeing; information relating to the asylum process; ESOL classes; social activities and befriending.
Union Chapel is a church with a strong commitment to social, economic, racial and climate justice. We are seeking an exceptional Director of Strategic Development who will play a pivotal role in advancing Big Change’s mission. You will be accountable for cultivating a purpose-led partnership portfolio, taking responsibility for securing funding (£2m+) and further activating our community of supporters. This position involves working closely with our existing community of entrepreneurial major donors and funders as well as spotting new opportunities at the intersection of our expert team, innovative projects and expansive network. Accountabilities
1. Strategic Partnerships Development:

Work closely with the senior leadership and development team to embed a long-term partnerships strategy.

Take overall responsibility for Big Change’s income, driving the growth of a portfolio of partners that sets us up to achieve our mission, pre-empting and thoughtfully managing any tension between commercial and impact drivers.

Qualify, develop, and manage relationships with strategic partners across the system, including complementary delivery partners, trusts, foundations, businesses, non-profit organisations and governmental agencies.

Work with leaders in each area of the organisation to develop a strong model for partnerships linked to impact.

Lead the creation of partnerships that enable experimentation and launch new ventures and projects.

Negotiate and formalise partnership agreements that bring in resources, expertise, and influence to advance organisational goals.

2. Pipeline Development:

Design and execute a comprehensive income development plan that aligns with the organisation’s goals and priorities.

As the Finance Administrator you will build good relationships with the wider staff team and be a friendly and knowledgeable source of advice for all queries relating to donations, credit cards, expenses and budget processes. You will support the Finance Manager with day to day tasks, such as bank reconciliation, recording transactions in QuickBooks, responding to staff queries and budget template preparation. As a key member of the team, you will be the primary user of many existing processes, and will be able to identify when and how systems need developing or updating to be more efficient.
