The Diocese of Guildford has an exciting part-time opportunity for a Community Lead to manage our Hear Here project.

The Hear Here Project is a community-focused initiative which involves collaboration between the Diocese, Parishes, NHS Audiology Departments and Sight for Surrey to assist those who wear an NHS-issued hearing aid with any technical issues at clinics run by trained hearing champions. The clinics helps to break the cycle of isolation often experienced by those with hearing loss.

The project, powered by volunteers, operates in parish churches and other community spaces, forming a key part of the diocese's "Growing Communities" strategy.

The role involves leading, managing, and ensuring the governance of Hear Here across the diocese. The Community Project Lead will work closely with volunteers, maintaining high clinic standards and fostering relationships with key partners to secure the project’s future and enhance its outreach potential.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Providing overall leadership and manage the daily activities of Hear Here.

· Promote the project across the diocese, ensuring it is recognised as a vital part of parish outreach and mission.

· Collect and analyse data from clinics for accurate and timely reporting.

· Respond to telephone and email enquiries, assisting new clients in accessing clinics and keep the online directory current.

· Identify, pursue, and secure ongoing funding to sustain and expand the project.

· Increase the visibility of Hear Here within the Diocese to expand the clinics and enhance their role in community outreach.

· Work with the NHS trusts to provide up-to-date training and support.

· Manage a team of volunteers to ensure clinics run consistently, safely, and according to required standards.

· Build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

· Administer and oversee project governance.

The successful candidate will need to hold a UK driving licence and have their own vehicle as the position requires travel around the diocese from time to time.

The Role

We are looking for a Deputy Cinema Manager to join the existing team at the Chelsea&Westminster Hospital in London, working closely with CW+, the official charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The roleholder will also be required to provide cover to our other London-based MediCinemas at Guys and St Thomas’s Hospitals.

The post-holder will work with the Cinema Manager and the team of nurses and volunteers who support our MediCinema, and will work closely with them, the hospital, and with central office operations team to prepare for and run successful film screenings each week.

We run 4 regular inpatient screenings each week which includes evenings and weekends. The roleholder will be required to work on a shift pattern to include weekends and evenings each week. There will also be a programme of additional Tailored and Personal screenings on top of these regular inpatient screenings. 

The role offers a unique, exciting and extremely rewarding opportunity for someone interested in a service delivery role at the heart of our charity, involving direct contact with the patients and families we support.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Service Delivery

• Support the Cinema Manager in delivering a programme of screenings each week as agreed according to the operating procedures of a MediCinema, including running and managing screenings on your own. Most screenings are held in the evenings and at weekends so the role requires regular evening and Saturday working.

• On screening days be responsible for:

o Marketing the service through the hospital’s wards, organising collecting and returning patients, and for safety and care in the cinema itself.

o Taking responsibility for health and safety of patients coming to the cinema, and the safety and appearance of the cinema space itself.

o Preparing and operating the digital projection equipment for the screening, ensuring that films are screened to the highest technical standards at all times. Training and ongoing technical support will be provided for this.

o Ensuring that all operational, welfare and safeguarding policies set out by MediCinema are followed accordingly and that, where appropriate, consent forms are obtained for photographic or filmed records.

o Ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with relevant health and safety legislation, and that areas where MediCinema might be in breach of such are dealt with immediately or brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for rectification.

o Keeping accurate monitoring and operational records, including contacts and database updating as required

• Help the Cinema Manager collate, analyse and report back on agreed metrics and KPI’s

• Assist with arranging and running any special events and special screenings

• When required, arrange and run additional personal screenings for patients unable to attend regular screenings, plus special tailored screenings with particular hospital departments and patient groups.

• Support the development and roll out of any new type of screenings we embark on.

• Support the delivery of our complementary bedside services, such as our Disney ‘Moments that Matter’ work.

Nurse & Volunteer Management

• Help the Cinema Manager build, manage and support the team of nurses and volunteers to assist in the duties outlined above and to ensure that screenings run safely and smoothly – this will include assisting with recruitment and creating monthly rotas.

Marketing and Relationship Management

• Be proactive in marketing the service within the hospital, building key relationships with hospital staff and members of CW+.

• Help develop and manage effective partnerships throughout the hospital and community

• Representing the organisation effectively and compellingly at all times.

• Support the programming and development of the MediCinema as a centre for entertainment, being pro-active in developing a creative programme of sustainable events at each site. This could include fundraising events, live performance and other relevant activities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This strategic role will report to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing operational functions across our businesses, focusing on fostering a positive working environment and employee experience, while supporting our social impact and business growth. You will share SCN’s ambitions to transform funding for grassroots organisations and coalitions by reimagining fundraising, removing structural barriers and encouraging institutional funders to support community interests. 

This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to support us in delivering our vision. The ideal candidate will have experience of operations, HR & risk management and will have a passion to make a difference. You will work with the Director of Ops on streamlining operational systems and processes, compliance and risk management, policy oversight, resource planning, and HR and payroll oversight.  Crucially, you will help us develop our new Employer of Record Service; the Social Change Hive. Working closely with the CEO and the Head of Business Development, you will ensure all our HR processes, systems and reporting structures are operational for our clients and our employees.

The role would suit someone who loves operations, HR and risk management and be comfortable in a startup environment. The role will involve working across the businesses and working closely with the Head of Programmes and the Head of Governance, Risk and Innovation. You will also be managing our Operations Assistant – with a view to expanding capacity in the team over the year. 

While this is maternity leave cover,  this function is growing so there is lots of opportunity to evolve responsibilities as the business needs change over the 12 months.

The role would suit someone who loves operations, HR and risk management. The role will involve working across the businesses and working closely with the Head of Programmes and the Head of Governance and Innovation. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

You will be a detailed oriented person, proactive, well organised and excellent at managing various tasks and projects at the same time, with excellent project management and people skills. We are a trauma informed organisation, and while you may not be trauma trained –  you will need to understand the need for a human touch within the systems and processes we hold (we will also provide training on our approach).  As part of the role, you must understand HR regulation, contract management and general operational functions. We are looking for someone who is happy working on their own initiative with energy, enthusiasm and good humour, with a can-do attitude. You must be comfortable with working with external groups of people from varied backgrounds alongside our incredible team. Our work is involved and changes quickly. So the role would suit someone who is resilient and comfortable re-prioritising when things shift quickly. 

Person specification includes: 

• Experience of working in an operations role
• Experience of managing systems (CRM & project management) & resource management tools (i.e. capacity tracking)
• Experience of reporting on operational functions such as HR and contracting
• Experience of supporting HR functions, including developing and reviewing policies
• Knowledge and experience of drafting and reviewing contracts
• Knowledge and understanding of compliance and risk management 
• Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and project management skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time and competing priorities 
• Excellent ability to work collaboratively across different functions, as well as working in a team. 
• Excellent communication skills to support the team in delivery of their work
• Working with community groups and/or campaigning groups would be desirable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Senior Operations manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Director of Ops in ensuring we have efficient systems and processes across the organisation and providing support on contracting needs for the businesses. Occasionally we are asked to help support the operational development of our clients. The role will involve:

• Operations oversight (40%)
  • To take a systematic view of all operations across the business and make sure we have the correct operational tools, systems and processes in place to support our internal needs as well as delivery of work to our clients. Lead on designing and embedding effective tools and systems to support this and ensure there are up to date process maps to support the team in using them. 
  • Regular reporting on these systems to the senior management team to support business management and strategic decisions 
  • Working closely with heads of each function to ensure we have the right processes in place that support the team in delivering their work 
  • Ensuring we have the right policies in place for effective management of the business 
  • Responsible for overseeing all contracting for clients and employees
  • Oversight and drafting of all client contracts – working with the Director of Ops to ensure contract templates are up to date and in line with any business shifts and fit for purpose.
  • Managing any contracting risks and making sure all contracts are active and not expired. Setting up and maintaining reporting systems to ensure this information is fed back to the relevant teams and senior management.
  • Addressing any questions from the team and clients on contracts 
  • Support the Head of Governance, Risk and Innovation to manage mitigations for any emerging risks, document any incidents, have effective reporting mechanisms in place, including updating the risk register
     

• HR and payroll (40%)
  • Support the HR element within the development and delivery of Hive, our Employer of Record payroll service. 
  • Lead on recruitment and induction processes for the business and clients. This includes ensuring the processes are fit for purpose and efficient for the business, having the right resources in place to support the team and clients with understanding and managing recruitment and induction, managing onboarding of all new starters.
  • Oversight of all contracting and HR obligations for our employees, including clients using the Hive service – onboarding, exit processes and everything in between 
  • Oversight of all processes in Hive to ensure smooth. operations. With Hive being new, and growing, processes and policies will need to be reviewed and adapted to Hive’s needs.
  • Setup and maintain reporting systems that allow risk management and managing end of contract responsibilities.
  • Manage all HR queries and issues for the team and clients. 
  • Oversight of monthly payroll and salary sacrifice schemes.
     
• Management and Teamwork (10%)
  • Management of the Operations team: Managing capacity and workload, objective setting and development.
  • Work with the rest of the team to ensure there is sharing of knowledge to improve systems and practice across all services, making sure the services are aligned.

About the role

The University of London is embarking on a major fundraising campaign to transform Senate House Library. The Development Office, and specifically the Philanthropy Manager, will play a crucial role in maximising the effectiveness and impact of the Library Transformation Campaign. Your main focus will be on developing strong relationships with key stakeholders and raising philanthropic income from individual donors, organisations and other supporters for the campaign and the University’s other fundraising priorities.

Who are we looking for?

We seek someone with at least three years’ experience in major gift fundraising, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You will have the ability to collaborate effectively and strategically with individuals and teams at all levels and across functions, with high level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising. Crucially you will be able to think and act strategically in relation to departmental and team strategies and have sound working knowledge of UK, charity sector regulations and guidance and best practices.

Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an experienced fundraiser to secure new corporate partnerships to help fund the growth of our care services, and to build relationships with companies to help them achieve their CSR goals.

Reporting to the Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager. You will be part of a team to drive Rainbow Trust’s Corporate income, building and maintaining the pipeline through effective networking, prospecting, and stewardship. You will be responsible for a varied and fulfilling portfolio of accounts to whom you will become a main contact and provide excellent corporate account management. Some accounts raising six figure sums, to whom you will become a main contact and provide excellent account management.

You will work collaboratively towards a ‘one team one target’ approach across the Fundraising and Engagement department and ensure that the use of technology is maximized and all processes are subject to continuous improvement.

About Love Barton 

Love Barton is a faith based charity established in 2022 to tackle systemic issues that keep people and families in poverty and to release them to flourish in all areas of life, focused on the Barton estate on the outskirts of Oxford. 

The charity originally grew from Barton Community Church and continues to operate in close partnership with this Church. 

About the Role

The focus of the role is to lead Love Barton during the Charity Manager’s maternity leave, managing the existing projects detailed below, as well as working with the Trustees on fundraising. 

Projects

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you. 

Your job would be to:

• Recruit, train and support volunteers

• Manage these projects to ensure they run smoothly and safely

Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton 

• Work with the trustees to identify funding streams to sustain the role and projects

• Lead all recruitment, training and management of volunteers including ensuring safeguarding training and DBS certificates are up to date 

• Line-manage any sessional staff

• Manage the budgets for each project, evaluating outcomes and supporting the reporting to funders and trustees 

• Meet regularly with the BCC leadership team to ensure a close partnership 

• Attend regular supervision and commit to personal development
