Many children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practise: we work to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most. Chapter One’s unique, online, reading support programme pairs struggling 5 to 8 year olds in over 11 areas of the UK with over 3000 volunteers who are recruited from a range of local and national businesses.

We are seeking a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Corporate Partnerships Officer to be an integral part of a team which aims to both maximise corporate income and deliver an excellent partner experience. This is an opportunity for an early career professional to learn about charity-business partnerships in a dynamic, small charity which is flexible and agile. 

Reporting to our Corporate Partnerships Manager, but also working closely with our Business Development Manager, you’ll support them both to deliver our annual volunteer targets and maintain our strong partner retention rate (currently 88%). This will involve supporting both the identification, acquisition, and onboarding of new partners, but also the account management of a portfolio of existing partners.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our Education Team. Your role will be to provide high quality support for children with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex therapeutic, medical and health needs, placing their quality of life at the centre of what we do. Under direction from the teacher, and with support from the class team, you will be responsible for the development and education of all pupils in your allocated class

The Role

As Assistant Accountant, you will take a lead role in every aspect of the day-today accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, working in collaboration with the staff team. You will assist with the financial setup of new church plants, ensuring a consistent approach across all of the Church partnership of churches, identifying best-practice and ensuring robust checks and balances are in place as the finance function increases in operational complexity.

Consistency, attention to detail, and best practice are key as this role will also help to establish a centralised resource service, offering a limited range of financial services to other selected churches in the town. The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for providing families (parents/carers and children up to ten years) affected by cleft with opportunities to access accurate information, connect with each other and form supportive communities. They will champion CLAPA volunteers and will lead on the development and effective delivery of our volunteering strategy.

The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.

Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.

More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Head of Strategic Communications at GLAN, you will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that amplifies GLAN's mission and impact on a global scale.

You will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of all communications efforts to enhance the organisation's brand, increase public awareness, and support advocacy and fundraising initiatives.

This is an exciting time to join GLAN. We are seeking a Head of Strategic Communications to build an ambitious communications strategy focused on some of the biggest human rights and climate change issues of our time. At this point in time, the team is small with some budget to work with external freelancers, consultants or agencies. Communications Strategy

• Align cross-media communication strategies with thematic goals to maximise success across all initiatives. Develop campaign & advocacy communications which will influence change.

• Lead and mentor a high-performing communications and advocacy team, currently including a Campaigns Coordinator.

• Oversee the review and redesign of the organisation's website to enhance user experience and engagement.
• Champion and promote the use of GLAN's brand among colleagues, fostering a unified brand identity.
• Develop a strong brand presence and establish comprehensive brand guidelines that reflect GLAN’s core values, emphasising the voices of affected communities in all communications. 

Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

• Serve as a key member of the senior management team, contributing to strategic decision-making and organisational planning.
• Represent the organisation externally at events, conferences, and meetings.
• Prepare communications updates and reports to the Board and relevant committees Work with SLT to improve impact measurement across GLAN.
• External stakeholders Be a Face of GLAN; building & cultivating tactical relationships and networks

Who we're looking for:

We are seeking a unique blend of marketer, fundraiser, and data analyst, equipped with the unique ability to analyse and interpret data to drive and evolve campaigns, as well as aid in developing new products. Your natural curiosity will lead you to explore and interrogate all available data points, both online and offline. You'll excel in clearly communicating complex data findings to non-technical colleagues at all levels.

About the role

This is an awesome role focussed on improving our ways of working and processes when it comes to those who support us. We want all of our supporters to have a first class experience when they decide to donate their time and/or money to supporting children and young people with cancer and their families. However we know that as an organisation we have more to do to make this happen and the time is now.

Working in Income Generation, this role will take a recently conducted diagnostic carried out by a business improvement consultant and not only work through the next steps but make change happen, prioritising the areas with the biggest wins. This role really will have a lasting legacy in the organisation.

We're not just looking for someone to map change, this person will lead operational design and process re-engineering that transforms the Income Generation directorate and it's workforce into high achievers. 

You’ll be based within the Project Management Office (PMO), a supportive team of professionals that lead transformational change across the organisation as well as corporate planning. You’ll also have close relationship with the Head of Planning and Strategy in Income Generation as well as the Associate Director Supporter Engagement.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Building on the diagnostics carried out already within Income Generation directorate to optimise organisational design and scope improvements. 
• Using the diagnostics to identify pain areas, develop a sequenced plan to tackle these issues and then implement the plan to improve performance, processes and services i.e. “getting hands dirty”.
• Embedding a culture of improvement in the organisation and developing these capabilities within the workforce.
• All of these activities will involve facilitating workshops, engaging audiences with tailored communications, debating and negotiating ideas with leaders, managing governance, risks and dependencies, evaluating progress etc.

• Experience of delivering transformational change by using process improvement principles & methodologies such as TQM, Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma to design services and processes that deliver value, efficiency, higher quality, lower costs and better results

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Supporting the area Field Organiser, in their work with groups of local people in and around small towns across the county in which they are based, this role will both organise and mobilise members of the public to take actions supportive of overseas aid and international development, including the climate crisis. As part of a team, you will help build an active local community presence to support the Campaigns aims in key locations across England. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent organisation, logistical and administrative skills, with a strong commitment to the aims of the Campaign.

Role Requirements

Site wide general housekeeping service – ensure that the housekeeping services is of an acceptable level and is consistent across site.

• Carry out a cleaning service in allocated buildings/rooms/areas ensuring that daily tasks are completed according to the standard operating procedures in relation to the cleanliness/hygiene standards.
• Follow infection control procedures whenever carrying out duties and ensure procedures are followed should there be an infection control outbreak.
• Liaise with the Housekeeping Supervisor and House Staff on a daily basis – carrying out special requests in relation to Housekeeping.
• Ensure safe storage of cleaning materials and equipment and sufficient stock is maintained – informing the Housekeeping Supervisor of stock requiring ordering.
• Assist in the cleaning of communal areas on a daily basis and cleaning of carpets, curtains and high dusting on a rotating schedule.
• Ensure that any repairs required to fixtures and fittings are reported to the designated Facilities Helpdesk as soon as possible and any issues are reported to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Assist in routine housekeeping audits as outlined in the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and ensure any works are to agreed service levels.
• Prioritise work to complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Assist other members of the Site Services and Facilities teams as required.
• Undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.
