The Launchpad Collective (TLC) is a newly registered charity dedicated to challenging the systems and inequalities that prevent refugee talent from being recognised and valued. We are committed to breaking down the barriers that hinder refugees and asylum seekers in the UK from accessing meaningful employment.

We connect with third parties to unlock additional employability support and push for social change. Together, we open doors so that refugees are recognised as positively enriching society.

About the role

We are now a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) and seek to grow our Board of Trustees. We are looking for individuals with experience in Finance, HR, Communications, Senor Leadership of a company or charity and Education (ideally Higher Education or Students’ Unions). Experience with ethical organisations like B Corps would also be welcomed.

We welcome first-time Trustees and those with lived experience. We are particularly keen to appoint a Trustee based in the Midlands or North of England, as we work nationally and seek representation in these areas.

Now-u is a non-profit website and app, launched in July 2020 with a mission to inform, involve and inspire people to help tackle some of the world's most pressing environmental and social problems related to i) human rights and welfare, ii) protecting the world around us, and iii) preserving our species and the planet. 

Through promotion we also engage with users of our app and website. By giving people actionable opportunities to help further the cause of our chosen campaigns (i.e. donating to certain charities, writing to your local MP, links to sign petitions), we work to create an engaging space whereby anyone can help contribute and tackle some of the challenges we face today. 

The role

We are looking for a Researcher to join our Campaigns team. The role will involve researching a range of important social, economic, and environmental issues, and then writing up your findings in a way that’s informative yet engaging. Supporting both the Head of Campaigns and Campaign Manager, our Researchers are essential to the creation of all content within the now-u app. 

What you will be doing

Our Campaigns span every issue imaginable – from LGBTQ+ rights to anti-racism, from saving our oceans to promoting sustainable transport, and from helping those in poverty to protecting refugees. As one of our Researchers, you will be charged with not only providing information on these global issues, but also connecting our users with charities across the UK so that they might help make a difference. This could entail finding volunteering opportunities, reliable donation points, or petitions that need signing – the possibilities are endless.

Once the research is done, you will need to curate your findings into what we call a ‘Campaign’ and produce copywriting that sets out the Campaign’s purpose in a way that will affect our users and inspire them to get involved – and then to return to the app again and again!

We also have a news section within the app, sharing articles on the most important issues. We are looking, therefore, for someone that keeps an eye on the various media platforms, knows what’s happening, and is able to be reactive to the latest stories for publishing.

Other responsibilities may include working with our partnerships and social media teams to ensure that our partner charities are being effectively supported and that key Campaigns are being shared across our channels.

What you will need

To be successful in the role as a Researcher, you will ideally have experience working in content – either as a writer or researcher – or working for a non-profit organisation. As a team made up entirely of volunteers, we are self-motivated and proactive about getting our work done with a shared passion for the app’s potential to have a real impact. You are creative with a flair for language, but simultaneously analytical and strategic about your approach to a task.

Our working hours are flexible, usually 3-5 hours a week, and the Campaigns team likes to get together once a fortnight to discuss what we’re working on and any upcoming priorities. 

Volunteering with now-u is an opportunity to provide really important support to a new project that we hope could really make a positive difference in the world. You would also become part of a small friendly volunteer team who would love to work collaboratively.

Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's.

In Havering, the group is a core part of the local Parkinson's community. Joining as a branch volunteer means you will be too - meeting new people and building new relationships.

You could be putting the kettle on, to give a warm welcome to new group attendees, or making sure the group activities run smoothly - and all activities are open to you too.

London Canal Museum is seeking volunteers to help maintain and innovate the museum’s publicity and marketing activities.

The museum is active on Time Out, London Planner, various Newsletters, What’s On websites, travel blogs, etc – as well as social media, but lacks a dedicated resources to keep these communications up-to-date and pro-active.

The objective is to ensure What’s-On sites and tourism publications, local organisations, bloggers, press and the general public are kept aware of what’s happening  at the museum, and of course, with the aim to sustain and increase visitor numbers throughout the year.

In addition, the museum would like to research the ‘blogosphere’ to create a new contact lists and grow relationships with influencers in the travel/entertainment and ‘things to do in London’ sector.

Applicants are welcome from prospective volunteers with a sales, publicity, PR or marketing background who are either self-starting or work efficiently and effectively under direction.

Experience in consumer-facing or entertainment/cultural/visitor attraction businesses is preferred, but not essential. A working knowledge of Canva would also be an advantage.

Task requirements will likely be variable, but the equivalent of 1-2 days per month availability would be ideal – typically remotely, but with occasional visits and meetings as required at the museum. Initial engagement with the role and familiarisation with the museum and its objectives will be done at the museum.

The London Canal Museum is dedicated to educating and inspiring our visitors with the history of London’s canals – how they’ve shaped London’s development, the ordinary people that lived and worked on them, as well as the entrepreneurs, engineers and navvies who built them. We want to pass on the heritage of the canals so that future generations can learn about their impact on London’s industrial and social past, as well as today’s leisure activities and waterways infrastructure and environment. We also encourage engagement with curious minds who might otherwise have no particular canal-specific interests.

The museum’s newly acquired trip boat ‘Long Tom’ also operates guided trips on the Regent’s Canal and through the historic Islington Tunnel, widening our appeal to the general leisure market.

As a volunteer run organisation we rely on a dedicated team of volunteers to manage all areas of the museum where you will learn about the history of London’s canals, the people who lived and worked on them, and their place in the industrial revolution and London’s history, as well as the Victorian ice trade and the unique history of our building.

You will gain experience of working in museums, heritage and visitor engagement – and the chance to build your own campaigns and marketing relationships.

You will be a part of a community of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, with regular opportunities to participate in social events including our summer boat trip, museum events, reciprocal visits to other museums, volunteer discounts, etc.

We are a charity that matches people who need free legal help with barristers who are willing to donate their time and expertise for those who cannot obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay.

We are the only pro bono charity to provide access to legal assistance in all areas of law, in all courts and tribunals across England and Wales.

We have been facilitating free legal help since 1996 and have grown into a thriving organisation working with almost 4,500 volunteer barristers. Our team comprises 23 dedicated casework, communications and administrative staff, as well as a committed team of student casework volunteers who work with us daily. Bar in the Community (BIC) is a volunteering initiative overseen by Advocate that was set up in 2000 with the aim of matching barristers volunteering their time with management committee positions of local voluntary organisations. Since then, BIC has expanded the breadth of volunteering it seeks to facilitate and now works to find barristers and chambers professionals to fill a variety of voluntary roles across a range of local and national organisations.

About the role

We are looking for two people to join the recently created management committee of BIC at a key stage in our development as we look to further expand the initiative, with a particular focus on engaging more charities and more volunteers.

We want to recruit two candidates with a commitment to volunteering and the work of BIC. We are looking for people with the following background:

1. Marketing and engagement: At present, the most important goals for Bar in the Community are to engage charities to ensure a steady stream of interesting opportunities and to engage volunteers to take on these opportunities. It is therefore essential for the management committee to be able to advise on how to promote opportunities and engage people and organisations.

2. Expertise in volunteering: As one of our key focuses is to engage the Bar in volunteering through BIC we are eager to recruit someone with previous experience working with volunteers and successfully recruiting for volunteer vacancies.

We recognise the need to ensure that Equality Diversity and Inclusion is reflected in all aspects of Advocate’s work including our management roles. We appreciate the additional perspectives diversity brings adds depth and understanding to our work. Time commitment and requirements of the role

Members would attend management committee meetings every three months. These meetings would last approximately an hour and time should also be factored in ahead of the meeting to read the papers. We anticipate these meetings being online. We are eager to recruit people who are willing to actively participate in discussions.

Remuneration

Our small charity delivers awareness campaigns and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team.

You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.

Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and having regular contact through emails and newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Email content: Develop our communication & marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
• Email content (membership): Create a regular email newsletter for our membership scheme
• Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
