What will you be doing:
We are looking for a new Trustee to act as Company Secretary. This role is for someone who is organised and methodical, with an eye for detail. They will take minutes at Subgroups and Board meetings and be responsible for the completion of the official returns to Companies House. This Trustee will also participate fully in Board meetings and play an important part in in ensuring the effective governance of the organisation by supporting the Board of Trustees in fulfilling their legal, regulatory and fiduciary responsibilities.
What are we looking for:
We need someone who has excellent written, communication, administrative and organisational skills and who can produce concise and relevant minutes of meetings, as well as dealing with official board correspondence. The role is also responsible for ensuring the Board of Trustees complies with the relevant charity and company regulations so must have an awareness of these, or the ability to learn. An understanding of the charitable and voluntary sector and its governance will be an advantage, as well as an empathy for the aims and objectives of Caspari Foundation.

Responsibilities of a trustee:
- Being responsible for directing the affairs of the charity
- Ensuring the charity is solvent and well-run
- Ensuring the charity delivers the charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public for which it has been set up
- Ensuring the charity complies with charity law, its own governing document, and other relevant legislation
- To consider the vision of the organisation as a whole and its beneficiaries ensuring that all the charity’s activities come within its charitable objects
- To set overall strategy and policy objectives and be mindful of them at all times
- Be an active member of the Board of Trustees in exercising its responsibilities and functions
Additional duties as Company Secretary:
Compliance and Governance
- To work with the Chair to ensure the Board of Trustees complies with the relevant charity and company regulations
- To deal with official board correspondence
- Ensure that Company Law, Charity Law and regulatory requirements of reporting and public accountability are compiled with
- Acting as custodian of the constitution (articles of association and the memorandum of association), in liaison with the Trustees, reviewing its appropriateness and monitoring that the Charity's activities reflect the objects set out in the governing document
Support to Trustees
- To oversee the induction of new Trustees into the charity, including the undertaking of the Disclosure and Barring check (DBS)
- To fulfil such other duties as may be required from time to time by the Board of Trustees
Meetings and Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Liaise with the Chair to organise the AGM in accordance with the organisation’s governing documents, including the preparation and distribution of necessary reports and documentation
- Ensure that proper notice is given, and all necessary legal requirements are fulfilled for the AGM
- To take concise and relevant minutes of meetings subgroup and board meetings, sending them to the board in a timely manner
Person Specification - Essential
- Proven experience in a company secretary, governance, or administrative role, ideally within a non-profit or charity setting
- Be a Director of the company (limited by guarantee) Please check that you fulfil the conditions on the UK government website
- Be willing to provide data required to be added to the Charity Commission website, Companies House website and the Financial Conduct Authority Register – your name only will be visible to the public.
- Have a Disclosure and Barring Service check for Caspari Foundation (DBS check are not currently portable unless you have joined the update service)
- Regularly attend Full Board meetings (currently every 3 months)
- Be confident about our purpose and work and be an ambassador for Caspari Foundation
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Integrity, strategic vision and good/independent judgement
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as Trustee – Company Secretary. Subgroups are held quarterly
- Ability to take decisions for the good of the organisation
- Willingness to speak one's mind and listen to the views of other
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a Trustee
Time Commitment:
- Four meetings a year Four meetings a year (one per quarter, dates agreed with trustees)

We are seeking a communication expert to advise the board and the Operational Leadership Team how we can further enhance our engagement and awareness to deliver its aims. Our new Trustee will have strong background in a related field such as, brand development, marketing, advertising or PR.
6. Finance Trustee
We are seeking a finance expert to monitor the financial administration of the charity and report to the board of trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health, in line with best practice, and in compliance with the governing document and legal requirements to provide the board with the confidence and knowledge to better make strategic decisions.

Role Overview
As a Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of systems supporting the Bank.Green website. The website allows users to see how their current bank potential new alternative banks rank on environmental issues - primarily fossil fuel and related sectors support. It provides suggestions on how to talk to your current or potential future bank about your environmental concerns. And it hosts miscellaneous other public facing aspects of our organization, ultimately supporting the primary mission of divesting banks from from fossil fuels.
Team and Tech Stack
The website team is a friendly group of people based mostly in European and African time zones, running a comfortable two week SCRUM. The Vue.js frontend is supported by multiple Django projects mostly using Postgres. The two existing competent and quick-learning backend developers could use the knowledge, expertise, and timely code reviews of a senior developer with Django experience.
Commitment
This role is currently volunteer-based and we are seeking a commitment of 10-15 hours per week. We are looking for somebody to come on long-term, but are open to shorter-term applicants.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the existing team of senior developers and UX/UI designer to enhance and maintain the Green Policy Evaluator.
- Develop robust backend solutions using Python Flask, SQLAlchemy, and Llamaindex.
- Design, implement, and optimize database structures using PostgreSQL.
- Ensure seamless integration of backend components with frontend systems.
- Participate in Agile development methodologies, including maintaining a Linear issue board and adhering to a loose SCRUM system.
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, preferably in a senior level capacity.
- Proficiency in Python programming language and Django framework.

Could you use your digital marketing and social media skills to help a local London-based recovery service to increase their social media presence and reach?
Lewisham Primary Care Recovery Service (PCRS) provides a drug and alcohol treatment recovery-orientated service, offering medication assisted treatment alongside psychosocial interventions for people living in Lewisham.
Humankind has national social media accounts, but we would love to involve a volunteer to help increase PCRS’s local social media presence and engagement, generate content and also to help promote existing activities. We can provide insight and experience in the field of social media marketing for a charity, and support you in your own goals.
Please note: This role is designed so that is can be undertaken remotely, but the volunteer would still need to be based in the UK. Humankind is unfortunately not able to offer visa sponsorships.
Details of the role:
Engage with staff, service users and volunteers to gather content, quotes and stories to be shared on social media. This could involve attending online group sessions or meetings, following nationwide Humankind accounts to share relevant content on local platforms, and researching relevant local organisations / networks / initiatives.
- Support with the design of this content, using templates and brand guidelines.
- Help to promote the activities of the service
- Help create a social media plan with support from staff
- Adhere to data protection, safeguarding, social media policies, media consent and brand guidelines
- Have regular catch-ups with a supervising member of staff to evaluate progress
Practical Considerations:
This role can be undertaken remotely and with flexible timings, but it would be ideal if you were able to attend an online meeting fortnightly during 9-5 hours to discuss and plan with the supervisor for this role.
Please note, we'd need to check with you that you can access the internet /have enough mobile data if Volunteering remotely, as we want to ensure no one is out of pocket from volunteering. We will have a Humankind laptop available for this role.
Personal qualities / Experience:
- Experience using social media platforms to increase engagement, and generating content
- An interest in / willingness to learn about recovery and substance misuse services
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- An understanding of the importance of guidelines and procedures relating to key areas such as safeguarding and information governance.

Role overview:
As the Chair of the Board of Trustees, you will provide pivotal strategic and inspirational leadership and direction to the Board, ensuring that Long Covid SOS is effectively governed, and remains focused on its mission and strategic goals. This is a unique voluntary opportunity for an accomplished leader with strong governance experience to make a significant impact for those with Long Covid. You will act as an ambassador for the charity, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, partners and the wider community. The role is a remote position and will require a commitment of 2-4 days per month.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: -
- Collaborate closely with the CEO to support the delivery of Long Covid SOS’s strategic objectives.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and oversight.

- Collaborate with fellow Trustees to establish strategic goals and objectives and devise an execution plan to achieve these goals.

At Doorstep Library, we’re dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support.
With 1 in 4 children in the UK leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train in-person and online volunteers to introduce children from under-resourced areas to the pleasure of reading.
What’s Involved?
As a Doorstep Library reading volunteer, you’ll visit the same families via Zoom every week with eBooks to share with the children and encourage their love of reading.
You will:
- Handpick eBooks from our online portals based on the children’s age, interests, and reading level
- Join families via Zoom with your volunteer partner for 20-minute reading sessions
- Make notes after the session to keep track of how the child/ren are progressing
Our unique home-based approach allows our volunteers to build trusting relationships with families, helping them to connect with the community and equip them with the skills they need to succeed later in life.
When and Where?
You can be based anywhere in the UK to become a Doorstep Library online volunteer.
- Time commitment: One evening a week (Regular Volunteer), one evening every other week (Semi-Regular Volunteer) or once every 3 weeks (Stand-In Volunteer) during school term times

- Days: Our projects run on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays from 4:30pm – 6:30pm
Skills/Experience Needed
- Be able to make a regular weekly commitment or once every 3 weeks for a Stand-In Volunteer during school term time

What will you be doing?
