The Fawcett Society is looking for a driven and politically astute Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join our Policy and Campaigns team and help push for transformative policy change.

The Role
As Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer, you will develop and deliver Fawcett’s engagement with Parliament, government, and other key stakeholders. You’ll use evidence-based research to identify the policy changes that will improve the lives of women and girls across the UK and work to ensure politicians and policymakers take up those ideas. You will play a key role in writing reports, consultation responses, and briefing papers that shape parliamentary discussions, while also empowering our members and supporters to participate in political campaigns.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing relationships with key political contacts, including MPs, civil servants, and party members, to further Fawcett’s policy recommendations.
- Supporting the development and delivery of Fawcett’s public affairs strategy, including responding to Bills and Select Committee inquiries.
- Drafting reports, press releases, and consultation responses, ensuring timely and persuasive policy communication.
- Organising stakeholder events, such as the Women’s Caucus, to engage political leaders, employers, and civil society.
- Empowering Fawcett members and supporters to engage in political advocacy, from writing to MPs to attending protests.
Who We’re Looking For
You have at least two years of experience in a policy or public affairs role, with a deep understanding of the UK political landscape and a commitment to gender equality. You are a creative problem-solver with the ability to quickly digest complex information, make persuasive arguments, and build relationships with diverse stakeholders. You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and have a proven ability to lead projects and campaigns.

About this key role
As a Specialist Caseworker, you will provide peer supervisory support to the team within the wider hospital-based services, which includes deputising for the Senior Caseworker when required, and support the Data Coordinator and Senior Caseworker with the collation of information and data for project monitoring purposes. You will develop and maintain an up-to-date and accurate resource of suitable onward referrals and develop and maintain strong relationships with both clinicians and hospital staff and with other services in the hospital, i.e. CAMHS, IDVA, COMPASS.
We will count on you to identify and assess young victims of violence, producing support and risk management plans based on these assessments, and to provide support, advice and advocacy for children, young people and their families as they plan to be discharged from hospital back into the community. You will also deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, which will see you provide practical help such as social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, and appearing in court.
What we are looking for
• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children
• Experience of providing support, advice and advocacy
• Substantial experience of assessing the needs of young people at risk of significant harm
• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team, working together to achieve positive outcomes for young people and establishing links to further the aims of a project
• Experience of using support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services
• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people
• Excellent IT, prioritisation, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work

The Legal Officer will conduct advocacy to achieve PI’s goals. This will include legal, policy, research, outreach and public engagement initiatives as PI formulates new and creative ways to demand change globally, including working with our partners across the world.

Experiences
- Experience working with data protection regulations, including enforcing them or ensuring organisational compliance.
- Experience working with international human rights standards and/or national rights frameworks.
- Law degree or equivalent postgraduate diploma in any jurisdiction.
- Admitted/qualified to practice in any jurisdiction.
- Experience in a legal role post admission/qualification.
- Understanding of and experience working within a variety of local, national, and international jurisdictions, including those governed by common law or civil law.
- Experience taking creative approaches to novel legal challenges.
- Experience in NGOs/human rights organisations.
