ROLE SUMMARY
This role will report to the Senior Delivery Project Manager responsible for the ongoing development of the Alumni programme. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to guide our Alumni programme development. You will be responsible for organising events and opportunities for Alumni, such as our annual Professional Development Courses, in addition to communicating with both the Alumni group and the wider team about the programme and opportunities within it. You will also support tracking and reporting the impact of our work with Alumni to different stakeholders. GRADUATE SCHEME SUMMARY
Being an Alumni Coordinator is the first step on upReach’s Future Charity Leaders Programme (FCLP). The FCLP provides you with a unique opportunity to:

Work directly with our Alumni building their careers and exploring opportunities across different sectors, as well as our partner organisations who support them (4 days per week), while also;

Gain exposure to various aspects of charity management through 6-month rotations (1 day per week).

1) ENGAGING ALUMNI
Once a student has graduated from university, and subsequently upReach’s core programmes, you will encourage them to engage with a range of activities. You will be responsible for:

Developing content for our Alumni Platform and drive the use of the platform amongst the Alumni group, maximising the number that update their details, sign up for events and support upReach in a variety of ways.

Lead on communication about the programme, both with the Alumni group and with the team and other stakeholders. This includes a monthly Alumni newsletter, whatsapp and social media posts.

Lead on the organisation and further development of the Alumni Ambassador Board, including working alongside the Senior Delivery Project Manager to coordinate the logistics of the group, from sending invitations and reminders, as well as organising content.
2) PARTNERSHIPS & EVENTS Our partners make our support possible, and you will gain hands-on experience developing strong relationships with employer partners. The size and complexity of each varies, but you may typically oversee 1-2 large partnerships or 3-4 smaller ones. This includes:

Being a partner’s first point of contact, and participating in update meetings - for example, updating a funder on Alumni engagement at an event.

Organising Alumni events (virtual and/or in person): This includes promoting them to Alumni, overseeing logistics, and gathering feedback.

Organising Alumni Professional Development Courses (virtual and/or in person). The Professional Development Courses typically involves 5 events focussed on skills necessary to ‘get on, after getting in’. You will be responsible for promoting them to Alumni, overseeing logistics, and gathering feedback.

Support the delivery of additional events where Alumni are included, including funding or external engagement events

Support End of Year Reviews with partners, including data analysis on Alumni engagement and successes - with the aim of ensuring partners renew their agreements.
3) DEVELOP OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALUMNI TO GIVE BACK upReach Alumni are often interested in giving back to upReach after graduation. You will be responsible for:

Coordinating Alumni volunteering opportunities, including keeping an up to date register of Alumni volunteers and opportunities for them to engage in.

4) ROTATIONS IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF CHARITY MANAGEMENT As part of the FCLP programme, you will work on rotational projects designed to give you a greater exposure and understanding of the different areas of charity management.
You will have a six month rotation in each of the following areas during your first 18 months on the programme: (1) Fundraising, Partnerships and Comms, (2) Operations and Strategy (3) Project and Product Management.

Each week you will work on projects related to your current rotation (7.5 hours per week). These projects will be agreed with your Rotation Manager, in line with the learning objectives for each rotation.

EU Campaigner
Position Objective:
To plan and execute campaign actions across Europe to ensure the success of PETA’s anti-bullfighting campaign, with a focus on successfully ending the Catholic Church’s support of bullfighting.
Location:
Remote in Rome, Italy (preferred). Other locations in Italy, France, or Spain may be considered.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conceive of, organise, and oversee disruptions, demonstrations, and other campaign projects
- Recruit and liaise with activists in Europe, with the aim of building relationships with and a network of key activists, and enlist their assistance when needed to deliver on campaign goals
- Stay informed of significant events and decision-makers within the Catholic Church and identify opportunities to advance the anti-bullfighting message
- Coordinate projects for PETA’s anti-bullfighting campaign, including producing new content, conducting research, and writing letters
- Work with the PETA US production team to create and redesign posters, banners, literature, and other outreach materials as needed
- Act as a spokesperson, representing the organisation at public-speaking engagements, in debates, and to the media and general public
- Maintain the volunteer and activist database
- Travel when necessary to help with demonstrations, tabling, and other events or hold such events independently when requested
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish, Italian, or French desirable
- Activist experience required
- Experience working on campaigns preferred
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA’s campaigns
- Ability to advocate for the organisation’s positions on issues professionally to a wide variety of people
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A self-starter, who demonstrates initiative
- Proven ability to be creative and strategic

We are looking to recruit a full-time officer to join our team delivering our flagship Pathways to Progress service. Following incoming referrals, the officer will contact service users to conduct a friendly telephone or video call to complete an assessment of their needs and challenges. The officer will then draw up action plans to connect the service users to the most appropriate set of service options, dependant on their chosen outcomes.
The officer will need to develop a good understanding of the internal and external service options available, plus have a clear and decisive skill for choosing the most appropriate course of action. The successful applicant will need to be a confident and comfortable communicator, with a patient and understanding personality.
We are seeking a good planner with experience of helping people to identify and reach their chosen outcomes, whilst also contributing to the wider success of an established service with its inherent timeframes and capacities.
The post holder will become an active member of the Charitable Services team, promoting the delivery of life enhancing support options to people with dual sensory loss and/or their carers. Service users will exhibit varying degrees of sensory loss, from the mild to the more profound. We are committed to respecting and celebrating the unique personalities and aspirations of each individual service user as we work with them to identify the most empowering bespoke action plan for them.
The officer will also have responsibility for overseeing the growth of an ongoing project to recruit and support a network of volunteers across the country, who can be co-ordinated to deliver localised marketing activities, such as attending public events on our behalf or dropping leaflets.
The main tasks delivered by the officer will be:
- To work with people with sensory loss to connect them to the services and support options that can best assist them;
- To build a friendly rapport with service users, to build trust so that they respond openly during the assessment conversations;
- To support individuals to engage with the agreed action plan and to help maintain momentum to complete the action plans
- To help individuals to celebrate their progress, to increase their knowledge and to expand their horizons.
- To develop a good understanding of the many internal and external support options available and their potential benefits;
- To develop and co-ordinate a team of volunteers to perform localised outreach activities on our behalf;
- To complete all necessary recording and reporting of service support, using our electronic systems;
- To contribute to the completion of funding reports, case stories, etc. as requested by the service manager;
- Occasionally to represent Deafblind UK at events, within online meetings and forums and to promote the service and generate service user referrals.
- To complete all training and input actively into team meetings, planning discussions and reviews.
Please note that prior experience of working with people with sensory loss is helpful but not essential for this role, as all relevant training will be provided.
