About the Role 

As Shop Support Manager, you will provide key operational support on defined areas, working alongside the Shop Manager in Teddington to understand the shop, community, and proposition.

Working closely with the Shop Manager, you'll assist in the delivery of the shop's potential. 

You'll play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, helping to embed best practice ways of working and support the Shop Manager in empowering the volunteer team to help drive the shop forward.

The role will also involve the responsibility of day-to-day operations and leadership of the shop to enable the shop's continued success during the Shop Managers absence.

About You 

You will be someone with proven retail skills, who understands the importance of teamwork. 

You'll bring: 

• Retail or charity retail experience
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build & maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people.
• A flexible, positive and resilient attitude, able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment. 
• Results driven approach with experience of working to targets. 
• Experience and confidence using a range of IT platforms including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as systems for the management of other areas (e.g. reporting, volunteer management).

About the role

As the new Community and Events Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Community Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.

Main duties

We are excited to be recruiting a Philanthropy Manager to join our Fundraising Team. This is a new role which will be instrumental in setting us up well to grow income from major donors over the coming years. What you'll need to succeed

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is essential.
• 3+ years of experience within a treasury, cash management, or financial analysis roles is essential. Preferably within a global organisation or within the not-for-profit sector.
• Strong understanding of financial principles, banking operations and cash flow management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

People (HR)

• Manage and maintain HR policies, procedures and practices including the employee handbook, ensuring they are up to date, recorded, filed and adhered to (i.e. personnel contracts, DBS, volunteers, holidays, sick leave)
• Develop and implement new systems, policies and processes that support anti-oppression, care and inclusion. 
• Ensure that Wen is compliant, abiding by relevant legislation (including GDPR) and arrange training for staff as needed
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, staff development and all other people processes
• Ensure appropriate support and supervision is in place for all staff, including overseeing training for all staff
• Promote improvements in internal communication, ensuring staff, volunteers and interns are informed of organisational developments and have opportunities to give feedback that will help shape our ways of working for the better.
• Oversee the co-ordination of all-staff events, meetings, socials and team building.
• Monitor and evaluate staff wellbeing, taking steps to address as needed.

Places (Office management and IT)

• Ensure smooth running of Wen’s main office to ensure it provides a welcoming, efficient and safe space to work in, ensuring health and safety procedures are implemented and maintained with help from the Operations Assistant.
• Utilise the Core Operations budget with help from the Operations Assistant to ensure Wen is maintaining photocopier, stationary supplies, liaising with our landlord about rent, maintaining phones, health and safety, fire procedures, utilities, rates and insurance.
• Oversee the IT Coordinator to ensure licenses are up to date, IT issues are solved promptly and IT developments and changes across our two sites and hybrid team are tracked

Finance

• Work with Finance Manager and Head of Organisational Development to establish strong financial processes and policies and ensure staff are aware of the relevant ones
• Liaising with our Finance Manager on day-to-day accounting as and when necessary 
• Managing the Core Operations budget including approval of expenditure (as a signatory) and cashflow preparation for the coming financial year
• Checking and collation of monthly payroll information

People Support

• Managing the Operations Assistant and IT Co-ordinator.
• Supporting volunteers as required and oversee managing our volunteer database.
• Supporting Wen team with HR and other Operations-related matters.

Along with any other reasonable tasks and duties deemed relevant to the role.

Step Up Hub leads a consortium, known as I AM Brent, that consists of six well-respected local charities who are working together to address the root causes and effects of violence affecting young people in the London Borough of Brent.

Programme Description

The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. The consortium is providing an array of positive opportunities for young people and support for families, including through tailored interventions. The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The Role of the Programme Manager

The Programme Manager will act as the glue between consortium members and provide a key link with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and the community. The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting consortium members with project deliverables where necessary, optimising the integration of provision, overseeing referrals, and brokering community partnerships. The Programme Manager will also schedule meetings and shared activities, provide secretarial support, and represent Step Up Hub and the consortium at relevant meetings.

In addition, the Programme Manager will:

· be responsible for line management of two other Step Up Hub staff members working on I AM Brent programme deliverables, a Network and Communication Lead and a Community Engagement Lead,

· manage, report on, monitor and evaluate the progress of interventions,

· report to VRU, attend VRU meetings, and cascade relevant information from the VRU to consortium members,

· be responsible for engaging stakeholders and community partners, identifying and leveraging their skills, expertise and assets, and leading on youth and community forums

· help engender an environment of trust and collaboration to support stakeholders and community partners engage positively with Step Up Hub and the consortium,

· manage a grant pot and support the delivery of small projects that are funded from it,

· work to actively promote the consortium and Step Up Hub’s activities, as per the organisational guidelines, through producing publicity materials and written reports for regular newsletters and by keeping the website updated,

· coordinate and monitor project budgets, working alongside the finance officer as required,

· ensure that safeguarding is central to the service delivery and is systemically built into case management processes,

· ensure equality of opportunity is embedded in all service delivery by Step Up Hub and consortium partners,

· provide secretarial services for the project steering group, progress meetings and small grants awarding panel.

The programme manager will be supported by the Step Up Hub senior leadership team and consortium partners on all aspects of programme delivery.
