The Role

This is an exciting and varied opportunity to develop and lead our fundraising strategy, working closely with teams across heritage, education, commercial, operations, and landscape management. You will play a crucial role in securing funding from trusts, foundations, major donors, and individuals, enabling us to deliver transformative projects that will support Port Sunlight's future such as:

• £500,000+ restoration of the Grade II listed boating pond and bronze fountain
• £8 million+ redevelopment of the Grade II listed Lyceum building into a new museum, community hub, and learning space

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a fundraising strategy aligned with PSVT’s long-term vision
• Research, identify, and apply for grants, trusts, and major funding opportunities
• Build and maintain relationships with key donors, corporate sponsors, and stakeholders
• Drive one-off and recurring donation campaigns, increasing engagement and support
• Work closely with internal teams to support funding applications for major heritage and community projects
• Raise awareness of PSVT’s work among residents, businesses, and regional stakeholders
• Manage multiple fundraising projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Alumni Networks Executive to join us on a permanent basis in The Development & Alumni Engagement Office.

About the Role
The Alumni Networks Team manage the Regional and Special Interest Groups - the Alumni Networks programme which is run through alumni volunteers throughout the world. The role of Alumni Networks Executive will deliver some aspects of the alumni engagement strategy and takes direct responsibility for managing the existing groups and also enhancing the Alumni Networks programme with strategic groups, including Special Interest Groups. The team act as the primary contact between the University and its alumni networks around the world and is responsible for managing relationships with these groups to further mutually beneficial aims that actively contribute to the University’s strategic goals. The role is a mix of proactive engagement and project delivery across a range of stakeholders, and while also supporting the alumni groups including funding applications, general volunteer management and advising committee members on how best to support the University. The role also line manages the Alumni Networks Coordinator.

What will I be doing?

• Lead on the development and delivery of the CRUK wide patient involvement strategy refresh, to encompass all areas of the organization that currently deploy or may benefit from patient involvement, including an evaluation plan to monitor the effectiveness and impact of the strategy.

• Oversee work on patient involvement across all areas of CRUK that would benefit from this across research, fundraising and policy, ensuring adherence to good practice.

• Oversee a strategic approach to the recruitment, and development of an engaged and inclusive network of people affected by cancer, with inspiring supporter journeys, regular communications and a learning plan, to ensure they have a consistently positive experience of working with us. Work in collaboration with volunteering / involvement teams internally and externally.

• Work closely with colleagues in Research and Innovation (R&I) to oversee the delivery of our researcher engagement strategy to inspire, upskill and support researchers to involve people affected by cancer in their work, this includes international research programmes like Cancer Grand Challenge, Research Data Strategy and Clinical trials.

• Provide functional leadership to the patient involvement team, leading a high performing team and ensuring that their time is prioritised effectively to focus on the areas of greatest impact

• Be the CRUK subject matter expert. Build and maintain a deep understanding of developments in involvement to position yourself and CRUK as a thought leader in this space.

• Working with leaders across CRUK to create opportunities for those close to cancer to get involved in our core activity. Influence via robust personal relationships combined with evidence-based insights.

What skills are we looking for?

• Expertise of working with patients in an engagement or involvement role, sensitive to the demands of working with patients and ability to represent patients' views while achieving corporate and strategic goals.

Background:

Street Child (SC) is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian, and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over 1.5 million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. 

Street Child has been operating in Mozambique since 2019, focusing on Cabo Delgado province. Its portfolio currently includes around $1 million dedicated to child protection and education in emergencies programming. Most programme implementation is done through local partners, supported by a team of 10 team members.

Role Purpose:

As Country Director for Street Child in Mozambique, you will lead our team in achieving our mission to keep all children safe, in school, and learning. Reporting to the East & Southern Africa Regional Director and working closely with Country Head of Programmes, your primary goals will be to build a high-performing and cohesive team, provide visionary leadership, drive programme growth, and cultivate strategic partnerships that drive our mission forward.

Street Child operates on the principle of equitable partnership, creating space for local actors to deliver impactful services within their communities. Therefore, your success will be measured not only by direct programming outcomes but also by the achievements of our local partners. Through effective team management, strategic planning, program oversight, and resource mobilization, you will advance Street Child’s long-term vision and presence in Mozambique.

Key Responsibilities: 

Team Building and Leadership:

• Recruit, mentor, and empower a highly effective team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth.

• Ensure the South Sudan team is equipped and has the mindset to build equitable and complementary partnerships by strengthening and establishing relationships with local partners, government, and international actors.

Strategy Development and Long-term Vision:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive country strategy aligned with Street Child's global and regional objectives. 

• Lead strategic planning initiatives, engaging team members, partners, and authorities to identify Street Child’s value alongside emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities. 

• Ensure programme, finance, and operational teams are aligned with and guided by strategic objectives. 

• Work closely with East and Southern Africa regional and global Street Child offices to inform organizational strategy at all levels. 

• Conduct thorough assessments of new geographical areas, preparing for future implementation and expansion. 

Programme Management Oversight: 

• Provide strong oversight of all programmatic activities, ensuring alignment with country strategy and Street Child’s mission and strategic objectives. 

• Work closely with the Country Programme Manager to design innovative and adaptive programming to respond to Mozambique's dynamic context. 

• Ensure projects are delivered within scope, on budget, and meet Street Child’s established quality standards. 

• Ensure program performance is monitored and evaluated effectively, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement and ensure high-quality outcomes. 

• Ensure robust reporting meets internal and external requirements, including donor reports. 

Operations Oversight:

• Oversee all operational aspects, including safety, security, and crisis management, ensuring staff well-being and operational continuity. 

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety and security protocols, ensuring team members have proper training to respond to emergencies. 

• Oversee effective logistics, procurement, and administrative functions to support programmatic activities efficiently and effectively. 

• Stay up to date with, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organisational policies and procedures. 

Resource Mobilisation:

• Cultivate strong relationships and bolster Street Child's reputation among donors, relevant authorities, partners, and stakeholders in Mozambique. 

• Input into East & Southern Africa Regional resource mobilisation strategy, working closely with the Regional Director to identify and pursue regional opportunities and relationships. 

• Work closely with the fundraising team in London and the East Africa regional office to identify new funding opportunities and lead efforts to secure funding for programs and initiatives. 

• Lead proposal development efforts, collaborating with local partners to create compelling pitches aligned with donor priorities and Street Child's strategic objectives. 

Advocacy, External Engagement, and Representation:

• Serve as Street Child's primary advocate and spokesperson in Mozambique and promoting our mission and values. 

• Act as a sectoral leader, capturing lessons to strengthen our approaches, and sharing Street Child's learning internally and externally. 

• Engage with government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to influence policy decisions and drive systemic change in support of vulnerable populations. 

• Represent Street Child at forums, conferences, and working groups, advocating for locally led response alongside the right to education for all in Mozambique. 

Risk, Compliance & Security Management:

• Ensure Street Child safety and security protocols are in place and being followed, with clear measures for risk mitigation and crisis management. 

• Take overall responsibility for the safety, security, and risk management of all Street Child Mozambique staff, programs, and operations. 

• Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to protect program participants, particularly children. 

• Conduct regular assessments of partner organizations to ensure compliance with Street Child’s standards and guidelines. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

• Extensive 8-10 years’ experience in the humanitarian or development sector, with a strong track record of team building, business development, and operational management. 

• Experience in overseeing or delivering education, child protection, and/or livelihoods programmes. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. 

• Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, program management, and resource mobilization, with a focus on sustainable impact. 

• Fluency in both English and Portuguese, written and spoken. Fluent Spanish or Italian are acceptable in the absence of Portuguese.

We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to join our team.

The Head of Fundraising will lead our income generation strategy to ensure The Girls’ Network can continue empowering young women from the least advantaged backgrounds. This role will drive the development and stewardship of high-value partnerships, oversee strategic growth in fundraising, and contribute to the charity’s long-term sustainability. 

Key roles and responsibilities

Fundraising

· Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to define and meet annual income targets from corporate partners, Trusts & Foundations, individuals and third party events, identifying opportunities for growth

· Identify, steward and secure high value relationships with corporate partners, Trusts & Foundations and major donors to achieve and exceed own targets, working with the support of the CEO, as required

· Develop compelling propositions to secure funding and wider support from corporate partners, working with the Head of Programmes and Ambassador Community Lead to ensure operational alignment

· Develop and submit funding bids for high value Trusts & Foundations in support of operational plans and agreed budgets

· Identify and steward major donors to meet future targets, working with the support of the CEO, as required

· Develop new activities to increase income from individuals e.g. proprietary campaigns, regular donors, digital fundraising and events, working with external suppliers within available budget

· Ensure regular review and update of case for support to align with external and internal developments.

· Ensure compliance with organisational policies and fundraising regulations working with Head of Finance & Operations, CEO, Trustees and external support, as required.

Leadership

· Provide strategic leadership and direction to Fundraising, ensuring the strategy aligns with our wider goals, delivering high-impact fundraising campaigns and driving long term sustainability.

· Take an active role in the Senior Leadership Team (with CEO, Head of Programmes, Head of Finance & Operations) to ensure efficient management of the charity, developing annual operational plans and budgets, monitoring performance and risk against quarterly targets and attending quarterly Board meetings.

Reporting

· Ensure restricted grant funding information is shared with the Head of Finance and Operations to enable tracking and with the Monitoring, Evaluation Research and Learning Manager to enable programme data reporting

Staff Management

· Ensure the Fundraising team are well supported to perform their roles, meeting virtually and in person on regular basis, conducting one-to-ones, annual appraisals and personal development plans to support learning.

· Lead and support the Fundraising Manager and Partnerships Manager to achieve their targets from corporate partners and Trusts & Foundations, tracking performance through quarterly reports, including pipeline values

· Work closely with Communications Manager to ensure fundraising opportunities and campaigns are coordinated in a timely fashion to the correct audiences.

· Handle administrative duties such as recruitment, training, performance management seeking support from HR as required

· Ensure direct reports are engaged and motivated and working to a high standard

Fundraising expertise

· Significant experience (5+ years) gained in senior fundraising and within the not for profit sector

· Significant experience in developing effective fundraising and communications strategies to meet organisational goals, leading teams to achieve success

· Proven experience overseeing a Trusts & Foundations programme, including pipeline and prospect management to meet multi-year targets

· Excellent written skills with the ability to produce a concise, compelling and creative case for support

· Financial analysis skills to track and report on quarterly income performance

Relationship Management

· Demonstrable experience of developing compelling funding propositions to secure high value partnerships with corporates and Trusts & Foundations

· Ability to develop productive relationships with colleagues, donors, suppliers, media contacts and Board-level decision makers

· An aptitude for working with high degree of autonomy, managing multiple priorities and within the resource limitations of a small organisation
