We are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Work Practitioner with a passion for excellence in practice and service delivery. As the Senior Youth Work Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in the mobilisation of our service and ensuring high-quality youth work that not only meets the needs of young people in our community but gives them an opportunity to shape it.
You will also lead alongside the Safe Practice Manager to manage and inspire a team of youth workers, sessional staff and volunteers providing guidance, support and professional development.
We will be providing a range of services across Central Bedfordshire through five youth centres, activity-based sessions, detached/community work, school-based provision and individual support for children and young people.
This role sits within our Youth Impact domain, which provides direct service delivery for children, young people and families who need our support. Your role will help us develop innovative practice across Central Bedfordshire.

-Proven experience in a similar role within youth work or related field

About the role
We’re looking for a Human Resources Advisor with strong experience in employee relations and policy development to join our People Team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the HR Business Partners and act as the escalation point from our People Operations Team, offering comprehensive, pragmatic people advisory services across the organisation. The role combines strategic leadership, internal and external coordination, and lots of hands-on development of funding applications, reports and much more. The role holder will manage and cultivate strong relationships with donors and members of the network, including the funding teams in our host organisations through whom funding flows. The Donor Relations Manager leads and develops CALP’s fundraising strategy and activities to enable CALP to finance its overall strategy. Essential Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field, or equivalent level of professional experience.
- Significant, proven experience of generating substantial funding including proven ability to develop funding strategies, plan effectively and deliver complex funding applications and donor reports.
- High level experience and knowledge of key humanitarian and development donors such as: ECHO, BHA/USAID, GFFO, FCDO and European government donors.
- Knowledge and experience of working with consortium-based funding.
- Proven strategic design and management skills including good programme development ability and proven knowledge of M&E at project and programme levels.
- Significant experience with budgeting, financial reporting, including managing and reporting on complex programme budgets.
- Ability to develop and manage complex relationships.
- Proven experience of funding management systems/databases.
- Very strong conceptual and analytical skills, including excellent facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English - report writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely and to motivate and persuade at high levels.
- Diplomacy, good interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure while not losing sight of strategic priorities.
- Proven initiative, flexibility and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines across multiple time zones.

We are currently looking for a Parent/Family worker, to join our dynamic, ambitious team.
A key part of this role will be your ability to ensure that you support families and carers whose children are going missing, or coming home late. We wish to recruit a Project Worker to cover the County of Essex, based both at home and within our central office in Chelmsford. To deliver the work of The Children's Society to children, young people and families around a range of risky behaviors including child sexual exploitation, trafficking, running away, truanting, gangs, risky sexual behaviours, aggressive and challenging behaviours through the use of individual support and group work, thereby ensuring the children and young people and their families live safely and confidently in their communities.
Your experience is key in securing this role: You will need substantial experience in working with vulnerable children and young people either in a paid or unpaid capacity. The Role
The role of a GMYF Youth Workers to be young person centred, providing a nurturing, safe and supporting environment for the young people, building and maintaining positive relationships with them. You will be based at either Partington or Charlestown Youth Centres working with 9-16 year olds. Introduction
Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. Additionally, they oversee the operations of our retail outlets, ensuring that they are efficiently run to generate income for our hospices.
Part 1: Job Profile
a) Main purpose of job
In the absence of the manager or assistant managers to lead a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures.
Decision Making Authority
The post holder will be required to make decisions on the quality, and suitability of donations before they are placed on sale. Depending on the length of the cover period they may be required to dress the windows. (They will follow price guidelines and existing display layout throughout the shop.)
The post holder will work with eCommerce Manager to decide if items would be suitable for selling at a higher price on eBay or through a promotional event and set these aside for the manager of the shop to deal with on their return.
The post holder will support with rostering of the team of volunteers where necessary and delegation of duties and jobs.

The Children's Society is delighted to embark on an exciting new partnership with BBC Children in Need in partnership with The Health Foundation and Impact on Urban Health to develop and deliver an innovative programme to improve children's mental health.
The funding is going to create a brand-new early support programme which will support children aged 8 - 13 years-old across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland with a strong focus on those children and families within marginalised communities. Our ambition is to support children and their families as early as possible to help prevent children developing and experiencing and mental health difficulties as they become teenagers.
The programme will offer one-to-one time-limited psychosocial interventions to children and their families. We will utilise solution-focussed approached to provide children and their families with a toolbox of strategies to help support the child's emotional health and wellbeing and manage their feelings. The direct work with children and families will be supported by digital interventions, through the use of our own wellbeing app “Me Time”.
About the role
We are looking for a creative, empathetic and organised practitioner who has experience of working with children and families around their wellbeing. You'll have excellent relational skills and have the ability to quickly build positive and trusting relationships with children and their families.
The role will be responsible for engaging children aged 8-13 and their parents, carers and family members where appropriate. You will deliver short term interventions to children who are struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing. These interventions will be face-to-face, over the phone and utilising our wellbeing app “Me Time”. The role will also work in partnership with other organisations and agencies such as schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHs), GPs and early help services.
In addition to working within your local team in Leeds you'll also form part of the National Programme, where you'll have the opportunity to connect with colleagues working across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Skills
-Computer literate and is able to navigate a data management system (after training is provided)
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills
-Teamwork and collaboration with a variety of partners
-Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with all children and families - practicing in a non-judgement and anti-discriminatory manner
-Competencies in undertaking risk assessments within scope of practice
Work-based Knowledge
-Knowledge of emotional health and mental health presentations and an understanding of evidence based and best practice
-Demonstrates knowledge of the issues surrounding biological, socio- economic factors and mental health.
-Knowledge of safeguarding issues and risks for children, young people and young adults.
- Able to demonstrate a knowledge of the issues that children, young people and young adults face when accessing mentalhealth services.
-Evidence of delivering positive outcomes, specifically around emotional and mental health.
-Evidence of working in partnership to deliver improved wellbeing for children &young people struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing.
