We are recruiting for a new Chair of Trustees to lead the Board and ensure that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction to achieve its full potential. We are looking for someone with proven commercial or entrepreneurial experience to lead on growing the charity - creating networking opportunities and potential partnerships with other organisations, corporates and individuals.
Ideally you will have previous experience of being a Chair of a Trustee Board, you will be experienced in working with small charities, strong networking capabilities that can be utilised for the benefit of the organisation and knowledge and experience of best practice, good governance and compliance relevant to charities and the Charity Commission.

Role Description
· Key tasks:
- 1. Chair of Trustee duties
- Work in partnership with Trustees and the Chief Executive to ensure that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction to steer the charity to achieve its full potential, overcoming challenges and maximising opportunities that arise
- Ensure that the board of Trustees fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the charity, working with the Chief Executive to ensure compliance with the Charity Commission
- Chair Board meetings and work closely with the Chief Executive to set agendas and priorities
- Lead on behalf of the organisation on creating networking opportunities and potential partnerships with other organisations, corporates and individuals
- Provide line management to the Chief Executive
· 2. General Trustee duties
- Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
- Safeguard the good name and values of the organisation
- Represent the organisation at functions and meetings as appropriate
- Declare any conflict of interest whilst carrying out the duties of a young trustee
- Take collectively responsible for the actions of the organisation and other trustees
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation
- Abide by all relevant policies and procedures
- Ensure the financial stability of the organisation
- Provide feedback on board papers, lead discussions, focus on key issues, provide advice and guidance on new initiatives

The role:
Protection Approaches is looking for a new chair of trustees to lead, challenge, and inspire us at an exciting time of growth and possibility. In this, our fifteenth year of working with communities across Kent and Medway to bring enriching arts experiences to people living with dementia and their supporters, we are excited to extend and strengthen the ways in which people with dementia are involved in the running of Bright Shadow. Overview
Charity Purpose

Objective

Charity Structure
- BRACE the charity has a sole Trustee “BRACE Trustee Limited”. All members of the Board are Directors of BRACE Trustee Limited and act as Trustees of BRACE. There are up to 15 directors of BRACE Trustee Limited who for reasons of clarity are called Trustees.
- The Chair and Trustees are usually appointed for a fixed term of 4 years which can be renewed once, enabling Trustees to serve for a maximum continuous term of 8 years.
Meetings
- Board meetings are held 4 times a year plus 1 awayday. Each meeting is +/- 4 hours.
- There are currently 3 sub-committees of the Board (Scientific Advisory Committee [SAC], Finance and HR). The 3 sub-committees meet no more than one month before the board meetings either in person or on Zoom. SAC reviews applications for grants and makes recommendations to the Board for approval.
- Board Meetings are generally held in person in the Bristol area, online or hybrid meetings are not encouraged but can be facilitated.

The Pelvic Radiation Disease Association (PRDA) is looking for a Chair of Trustees to provide strategic leadership for the charity, working in partnership with our Operations Manager and supported by a committed team of Trustees.
Who we are
Pelvic Radiation Disease (PRD) is a long-term side-effect (‘late effect’) of pelvic radiotherapy treatment affecting an estimated 100,000 people in the UK. People affected by PRD often have a complex set of symptoms affecting the bowel, bladder, sexual function or other functions for many years after radiotherapy, sometimes only appearing several years after radiotherapy treatment
PRDA is a small UK charity whose objectives are to see that the effects of PRD are minimised, that people affected by PRD are given the best possible care and treatment, and that PRD is accepted as a serious problem and given the attention it deserves.
Duties of the Chair
In addition to the duties of a Trustee, the Chair will:
- Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that PRDA achieves its mission.
- Work in partnership with the Operations Manager and team to achieve our mission.
- Lead the board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation.
- Optimise the relationship between the board and PRDA’s staff and volunteers.
- Plan and chair the board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
- Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for PRDA.
What PRDA is looking for
Each trustee must have:
- a commitment to the vision and aims of the Pelvic Radiation Disease Association

What is LBA looking for?
The London Basketball Association is pleased to announce that an opportunity has arisen for a Board of Trustees Chairperson to join our intensely committed organisation.
The Board of Trustees Chairperson is a pivotal role within the organisation, tasked with holding the Board and Executive Team to account, to ensure the Charity hits its mission and longer term strategic visions. This is achieved by providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The newly independent Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity will partner with University Hospitals of Derby & Burton (UHDB) to provide Exceptional Care Together.
The Charity aims to significantly grow their income over the next five years to support more NHS staff to care for patients in safe, high-quality environments, using the latest equipment, technology and learning which will contribute to the future of health through committed research and development.
Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity’s vision is to serve the population of Derby, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire through preventative research, enhanced care and investment in the future.
Who we are looking for.
They now seek a Chair and three Trustees who will be pivotal to the establishment of their newly converted Charity, as well as its development and growth and ambitions to double the income over the next five years.
The new Chair and Board of Trustees will bring experience of good charity governance, strong commercial awareness and be well networked across their communities.
Time Commitment
The initial term of office is for three years, subject to annual review by the Board. If mutually agreed, the term can be extended for a further three years.
The Board of Trustees will meet bi-monthly, in person in Derby with online attendance at relevant sub-committees also likely.
The Chair and Trustees will need to give the equivalent of around one-two days per month initially to establish the Charity, develop and grow the Board and engage with senior stakeholders.
The Board will agree their formal committee structure, but it is likely to include the following sub-committees: Remuneration, Finance, Risk & Audit, Fundraising & Income Generation and Appeals, Research & Innovation.
Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity will have a formal liaison agreement in place with the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton (UHDB) Trust, including a position on its Board for a link Trustee, Monthly Trust and CEO leadership meetings. Twice-yearly Board to Board meetings and representation on key Trust groups such as strategic capital group.

Job Description Chair of Trustees
Introduction
The Lucy Rayner Foundation (LRF) is a charity set up in May 2013 by the Rayner family after the loss of daughter and sister Lucy to suicide. The LRF is an organisation that supports young people to deal with their mental health issues and provides them with tools and techniques to improve and maintain their mental health in the long term. This is done through education, training and support services.
Mental health has reached an all-time high and the demand for our services is increasing every day. We became incorporated in July 2022 to grow the charity to meet those demands and we have ambitious plans for 2024/25.
Currently we are without a Chairperson due to unforeseen circumstances and we are now looking for a dynamic leader to help steer the Charity in the years ahead.
The Role
The Chair will lead the Board in its role to ensure that the clear strategic direction of the charity is met as laid out in the regulatory framework, that governs LRF through its compliance, financial management and people performance.
The Chair will also support and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive, use effective collaboration, constructive engagement within the Board and between the Board Members and support with the management team, staff and volunteers where necessary.
The Chair should also act as an Ambassador and the public face of the charity as part of the LRF external communications efforts. The Chair also line-manages the Chief Executive with governance and HR procedures.
Time Commitment - Four Board meetings a year and Chair the meetings and is to hold regular meetings with the Chief Executive by agreement.
Reporting to: - The Board of Trustees
Terms: - 3 years (there will be a three month probationary period following the appointment
Renumeration: - Unremunerated. Out of pocket expenses incurred can reimburse
Role & Responsibilities
- Establish a culture within the Board the fosters integrity, inclusion and openness
- Working closely with the Chief Executive, to shape the work of the Board to ensure constructive challenge and support in the development, implementation of policy frameworks, organisational strategies, financial management and effective risk management whilst ensuring that it meets all the charitable objectives.
- Responsibility for governance arrangements working in the most efficient way
- Esure that there is the right level of governance in place
- Develop the knowledge capability of the Board of Trustees
- Encourage positive change, where appropriate, address and resolve any conflicts within the Board
- Ensure that the Trustees understand the balance between governance and management
- Chair the meeting of the Board of Trustees
- Supporting the Chief Executive, whilst respecting the boundaries which exists between the two roles
- Ensure that the Chief Executive has the opportunity to grow and develop professionally and has the appropriate professional support
Personal Description
- Has 3 years of experience as a Chair
- Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within an organisation
- Have a passion for supporting those with mental health
- Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees
- Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate and bring people together
- Financial management skills with an understanding of charity finance issues
- Experience of chairing meetings and events
- Demonstrate a strong and visible commitment to the Charity, its strategic mission and objectives
- Strong networking abilities that can be utilised for the benefit of the Charity
- Ability to commit time to conduct the role to the best of your ability, including attending events out of office hours.

Watford Mencap supports over 600 people with learning disabilities and their families in South West Herts. They are affiliated with Royal Mencap but are a self-funding and independent local charity that has provided services and support to local families for the past 70 years. They currently operate across 10 sites in Hertsmere, Three Rivers and Watford. It’s an exciting time of change for the charity, having recently bought a new building to bring together its head office and children’s centre along with their plans to develop a range of brand-new short breaks services in this exciting new central hub for the charity in Watford. Over the next 5 years they shall expand and develop this hub into a multipurpose site used by the charity and other local groups.
Watford Mencap is now looking to appoint their next Chair of Trustees – ideally, someone with previous experience of being a Chair or a Charity CEO who can demonstrate significant experience in helping an organisation with their strategy, governance and management.
