NHS Providers' development programmes team delivered a range of training and development activities for NHS boards and foundation trust governors. The team delivers over 200 events annually. This pivotal role will address a significant gap in the protection and welfare of animals used in entertainment and media. The creation of this new role within the RSPCA, is not only vital for addressing current deficiencies in animal welfare within the entertainment industry but also reinforces the RSPCA's commitment to leading positive change.

As our Senior Scientific and Policy Officer - Animals in Entertainment & the Media, you will develop and implement a strategic plan to raise industry standards, improve legal protection, and shift public attitudes to improve the welfare of animals used in these industries.
The role is situated in the RSPCA's Wildlife Department but the scope of the work includes all animals, including companion animals, so you will work collaboratively across several departments.
You can find a full description of what the role entails on the attached role profile but in a nutshell, we will look to you to:
- Generate and maintain RSPCA policies, strategic aims, goals and objectives relating to animals in entertainment and the media.
- Develop and implement a strategic influencing plan to improve industry standards, legal protection, and public attitudes towards animals in entertainment and the media
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including those in the entertainment industry, animal welfare organisations, and regulatory bodies, and represent the RSPCA in advocacy coalitions to achieve the RSPCA's goals and objectives.
- Prepare and deliver evidence-based briefing papers, policy reports, position statements, articles, and press releases.
- Work with RSPCA colleagues to ensure RSPCA standards are based on the latest scientific evidence and best practices.
- Undertake media interviews as the RSPCA's lead spokesperson on animal welfare in entertainment.
- Stay up-to-date on animal welfare science, legislation, ethics, and industry developments.

- A degree level qualification in a relevant discipline.

The Communications Executive will co-ordinate and contribute to the planning, implementation, and optimisation of all internal and external communications. This will range from attraction campaigns, public relations, and the internal engagement calendar and events.
The role will co-ordinate production of communications for target audiences from beginning to end – from planning, writing, and editing of copy to measuring effectiveness of communications. In addition, the role will have responsibility for the Now Teach website.

This role is a part of the Supporter Experience & Operations (SEO) team that sits within the Mass Engagement Department at WaterAid and aspires to deliver sector-leading supporter care, excellent supplier management and effective internal response handling operations. The team exist to champion the supporter experience across the organisation and ensure this remains consistent at every touch point.
As our organised and conscientious Supporter Operations Officer you will provide effective monitoring of our internal supporter response handling processes, including donation and query management, and bring to the role an understanding of regulations that affect the management of supporter data, and the processing of financial responses.
About the Team:
The Supporter Operations Team plays a central role in delivering an exceptional supporter experience, ensuring smooth internal and external fulfilment to maximise supporter engagement in order to meet our ambitious targets.
This role sits within the Supporter Operations sub-team, reporting into the Supporter Operations Manager. The Supporter Operations Team plays a central role in supporting our fundraising teams, to maximise supporter engagement and ensure that the fulfilment of our fundraising appeals, donor thanking and donation processes are carried out correctly and in compliance with all relevant regulations
About the Role:
In this role, you will manage the team’s workload, forecasting expected capacity to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly tasks are planned out and completed in accordance with set KPIs. As well as supporting the Supporter Operations Manager in monitoring & evaluating the performance of the Operations team using reports to investigate any unusual results/trends.
You’ll also:
- Bring to the role a keen understanding of supporter response handling, the intricacies of processing donations, Direct Debits, Gift Aid, and communication preferences
- Assist with due diligence processes within the wider SEO team, specifically focusing on internal data security practices, response handling accuracy, and adherence to relevant regulatory requirements such as those for Gift Aid or the BACS scheme for Direct Debits
- Proactively identify processes for improvement across the Supporter Experience & Operations Team to deliver efficiencies and improve the effectiveness of internal procedures
- Support campaign managers and other colleagues with any new or existing projects relating to fundraising operations, working closely with internal stakeholders, ensuring requirements are clear and fully documented
About you:
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of Gift Aid, Direct Debit, Data protection and PCI-DSS compliance
- Strong team player. Proven experience and/ or evidence of providing support/supervision/ training to team members
- Experience of documenting business processes, and comfortable with communicating and influencing a range of stakeholders
- Experience of income processing and donor response handling
- Excellent IT skills (use of Microsoft products, particularly Excel) with ability to analyse data accurately
- High attention to detail with ability to work methodically, ensuring minimal errors, and able to problem solve should errors arise
- Ability to analyse fundraiser requirements, and capable of providing the best fulfilment solution working with internal stakeholders
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to listen, understand, analyse and resolve queries of a technical nature (incl. complex queries). Demonstrate an innovative approach to problem solving with the ability to implement robust solutions, taking into account future requirements
- Excellent time management skills. Proven ability to manage & prioritise own workload, conflicting tasks/ deadlines effectively and successfully

Purpose of Role
- To understand Ramblers’ audience behaviours by analysing customer data

Key responsibilities
- Drive the organisation to use data in its operations, using first party and third-party data sources to facilitate more informed and reliable decision making.
- Working in collaboration with teams across the organisation (particularly Income and Marketing) to develop and implement data driven approaches to income generation with a particular focus on quantitative modelling and testing.
- Working with internal Digital and IT teams, ensure information flows between systems (Salesforce, the Data Warehouse, Marketing Cloud etc) in an accurate and timely manner, to ensure our supporters receive the best possible service and we have a full view of their activities when planning our own.

Supporting/Working with or in not for profit (NFP) organisations, in particular voluntary, community and/or social enterprises

Knowledge of key areas that create a strong and sustainable NFP organisation

Knowledge or experience of working with NFP organisations of different sizes from grassroots to key anchor and national level organisations and a clear understanding of their current challenges

Facilitating and developing or supporting events, workshops, focus groups or other similar activities

Delivering fieldwork and outreach approaches to successfully recruit and engage a wide range of people and organisations
-
Help identify an organisation’s development needs

Excellent people skills that enable you to work sensitively and build trust to develop working relationships with a diverse range of people, organisations and clients from different sectors

Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and present information clearly and confidently

Works to a high standard with attention to detail, management and organisation

Effectively use a range of software including Microsoft Office, Google, and ideally other digital/online platforms

Self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as part of a strong team and work on multiple projects

Desirable:

Experience at undertaking organisational diagnostics and/or skills audit and developing learning plans

Experience of working in or with social housing and local government organisations

Experience of designing and delivering successful training or coaching sessions to successfully build the capacity of NFP organisations in person and virtually

Developed tools and resources for NFP sector organisations
-
Experience or involvement in civil society – working with communities, volunteering, fundraising, community organising etc

Expertise in data analysis, IT systems
-
Knowledge or experience of digital engagement tools, social media, and/or AI as pertinent to the role

Strong analytical skills

Experience in creating and analysing surveys
Key Terms
-
Salary Range: £27,500-£38,000 (FTE), depending on experience
-
Negotiable full or part time hours – (minimum of 0.6 FTE). The role is open to compressed working in accordance with the needs of the job
-
Home and remote working with one day or more per week at a shared office
-
Some travel required within London and England which may include overnight stays according to the needs of contracts (anticipated travel days 2-3 days per month)
-
Occasional evening / weekend work required
-
25 days paid leave per year plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Statutory sick leave & pension contributions

Probationary period applies (3 months)
- Notice period 2 months (1 month during probation)
