PWS is a complex genetic disorder characterised by low muscle tone and failure to thrive at birth, and later evidence of short stature, intellectual disabilities, behavioural and psychiatric challenges and impaired satiety.

IPWSO is the international umbrella body for PWS associations around the world with 47 full paying country members and contacts in over 120 countries. We are committed to supporting people with PWS and their families whatever their needs and wherever they live.

We build communities between people with Prader-Willi syndrome, their families and the professionals who support them to share knowledge and expertise and improve outcomes for people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families everywhere.

We want everyone with Prader-Willi syndrome to get equal access to diagnosis and treatment no matter where in the world they live. We want to ensure better, more consistent outcomes for people with the syndrome and their families.

We work to ensure research into the condition works for everyone and reflects the diverse experiences and environments of those living with the syndrome around the world today.

Main purpose and scope of role

Working closely with the President and the Board of Trustees, the CEO will provide strategic vision and leadership and will strive to ensure that IPWSO delivers its charitable purposes and remains successful and sustainable.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to)

Leadership

· Strive to ensure that the charitable purposes of IPWSO are followed and that it delivers the public benefit set out in its governing document.

· Take overall responsibility for the management and administration of IPWSO.

· Provide support and information to the Board of Trustees to enable trustees to fulfil their roles and legal responsibilities.

· Pursue close cooperation with, and accountability to, IPWSO’s members.

· Act as an ambassador for IPWSO by representing IPWSO at events and networking to build new strategic relationships.

· Keep abreast of relevant new research, treatment recommendations and service developments for people with Prader-Willi syndrome.

Governance

· Strive to ensure that IPWSO has governance systems in place that enable it to consistently fulfil its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities.

· Maintain awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that could affect IPWSO and advise the Board of Trustees accordingly.

· Together with the President manage complaints (including from whistle-blowers) and recommend actions to the Board of Trustees

Finance and Fundraising

· Work with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee to ensure the overall financial health and sustainability of IPWSO.

· Work with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee to prepare budgets for review by the Board of Trustees and to enable IPWSO to operate within its financial means.

· Seek to ensure that appropriate financial reports are submitted to the Charity Commission and other entities as required.

· Support the work of the Fundraising Committee and strive to ensure a sustainable income from both IPWSO members and individual, corporate, philanthropic and government donors.

· Build relationships with potential donors and prepare funding proposals.

· Seek to provide high quality support to existing donors, by means including the preparation of regular reports and updates.

· Seek out and build new income streams.

Staff, Trustee and Volunteer and Committee Support

· Provide support to staff, trustees and volunteers to enable them to carry out their duties.

· Deputise for other staff members during periods of leave.

· Conduct annual reviews with staff.

· Participate in the recruitment of new staff as required.

· Provide support and advice to IPWSO committees and conference organisers.

Project Support

· Seek to ensure that all IPWSO projects are designed and implemented in accordance with IPWSO’s mission and objectives.

· Support IPWSO’s Project Managers and others who lead IPWSO projects and, if necessary, manage projects directly.

Essential

Proficiency in English.

Our Communications Services team is seeking a talented Communications Officer, Social Media and Digital, with a background in sustainable development, science or health communications. The successful applicant will be educated to degree level with at least a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree.

You will need to be creative with the ability to produce social media campaigns, digital content and videos, and lead the development of engaging websites to tell our clients’ stories. What you will do

You’ll lead our social media and digital services for international development and research organisations around the world, as well as coordinating and providing advice on a range of other communications projects – covering topics such as climate change, health, poverty reduction, social equity, agriculture, water resources management, and green cities. You’ll need to think strategically and creatively, respond effectively to emerging trends, and help our team develop and grow.

Your role will include:

• Leading social media and digital communications services: you will conceptualise, coordinate and deliver social media campaigns, videos, websites, newsletters and other digital products for our clients – leading innovative content strategies that drive engagement.
• Content creation: you will create social media content and assets, graphics, videos and animations. You will also develop design templates and mock-ups, format presentations and Microsoft Word documents, produce event materials and make website updates.
• Project management: you will be the main point of contact for specific clients and projects, gathering requests for new products and services, and coordinating content development and graphic design work with other team members to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. This may lead to overseas trips for some clients.

Our staff have the flexibility to work wholly or partly from home or from our office in Tooting, South-West London, during regular operational hours (08:30–17:30; 40 hours/week). If working from home, staff must have a working environment suitable for holding video-call meetings with clients. Key skills and experience required

4. Experience using a range of tools to create digital communications materials (e.g. Canva and video editing software; Illustrator and Premier Pro would be an advantage) and content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
5. Understanding of the digital landscape, emerging trends, tools and best practices in social media and digital communications (including SEO, UI, UX, Information Architecture).
6. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media, digital and campaign strategies, and using reporting and analytics tools – with proven success in driving engagement and followers.
7. Strong creative flair with a strong understanding of best-practice design principles.

As the Peer to Peer Groupwork Facilitator you will set up, lead and deliver a year-long peer to peer group programme for bereaved families who have experienced the sudden and unexpected death of a baby or young child.

The groupwork is based on a programme led by Harvard University and Boston’s Children’s hospital and has structured sessions drawing upon psychological model of CBT, although the sessions are not therapeutic. Each session has a theme and incorporates education, guidance and support.

You will establish and deliver a new peer online support group, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery and creating a safe and welcoming space for bereaved families.

Outside the group sessions you will be responsible for managing the administration and evaluation of the service, including and collection of questionnaires and feedback required for reporting purposes and supporting members with any signposting requirements processing referrals, carrying out eligibility screening, monitoring the waiting list and inputting and keeping all database member and service records up to date.

It is a key time to be joining the charity and helping us to continue to save babies’ lives and support bereaved families. The charity has been hugely successful, but the work is far from done. The impact of the sudden death of a baby is wide and never goes away, as we know from the families that we support. This drives all our work, across each department. Problems including slow and reactive funding, centralised decision-making, and an aversion to change mean that people affected by crises around the world do not receive the best help fast enough, and needless suffering results. About the role

As the Operations Officer you will provide dedicated support to the Start Funds' portfolio, currently comprising the global Start Fund, Start Fund Bangladesh, Start Fund Nepal and the Ukraine locally-led pooled fund. The role will contribute to ensuring that Start Funds' awards are efficiently and effectively managed, provide support to the financial management of the Start Fund programmes, implement the fund's approach to and management of risk and compliance, and assist with procurement.

In this role, you will: 

Operational and programme management:

• Support the Start Funds Operations Advisor in maintaining effective award management processes, in close coordination with SCUK as Grant Custodian to the Start Network
• Support in ensuring that Start Funds' programmes are fully compliant with grants and contracts and managed in-line with relevant SCUK and Start Network policies and practices
• In coordination with the Start Network Assurance team, provide inputs for the implementation of the Start Funds' approach to and management of risk and compliance
• Support the Start Funds Operations Advisor in the management of audits
• Administer serious incident reports (specifically those that are fraud-related) concerning Start Funds
• Play a supporting role in the financial management of the Start Fund programmes, liaising closely with budget holders, the Finance Business Partner and the Start Network finance team
• With support from the Start Funds Operations Advisor, provide operational advice to colleagues in relation to day-to-day tasks as well as when challenges arise
• Support the Start Funds Operations Advisor and relevant colleagues in managing procurement processes, ensuring that relevant policies are upheld. Support with contract management
• Support the maintenance and administration of Start Funds systems and processes
• Support the Start Funds Operations Advisor in the development of effective ways of working with colleagues in other teams (Start Programmes, SCUK and Start Network)
• Support the Start Funds team with the coordination of meetings and events. Assist in the development of annual business plan and work-plans, and associated annual and quarterly reporting to stakeholders with SCUK and Start Network.

About you

• Proven experience in international development/humanitarian programme operations
• Familiarity with approaches to risk management in international development/humanitarian settings

The ultimate aim of these activities is to increase the number of active War on Want members who support their work through regular direct debit donations. In addition, you will lead War on Want’s legacy programme and manage the Income & Engagement Assistant to ensure the delivery of first-class supporter care processes and an unbeatable supporter experience.

As individual giving lead, you will join the team at a very exciting time. They have recently launched a new supporter mobilisation strategy to bring transformative growth to our supporter base. This role would be well suited to someone who has worked across a range of channels: tele-marketing, direct mail and digital. You will have a passion for political change and activism!

The starting salary is £46,636 and the role is hybrid working, with one day a month at War on Want’s head office. More in-person days are required on an ad-hoc basis.

Job Summary

The Commercial Property Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice on Commercial Property matters generally and playing an important role during the rationalisation of the Charity’s property portfolio. Prepare, review and negotiate complex and routine Commercial Property transactions involved with the disposal of a significant commercial property portfolio via public auction or private treaty. 

Obtain s119 reports and liaise with relevant professionals eg. surveyors to achieve best value for these properties; Liaise with external counsel, draft, review and negotiate contracts; leases, licences, transfer deeds, deeds of surrender and similar documents (with Senior Commercial Property Solicitor’s guidance) 

Analyse title documents and legal descriptions of property; prepare reports on title; prepare completion statements and invoices; prepare Land Registry applications.

● Efficiently responding to LAH service users' inquiries while creating a friendly, warm, and welcoming environment

Professional Development
