Home-Start is here to ensure that no parent or carer with young children feels alone. Through volunteer-led home visiting support, we provide emotional and practical support to parents and carers with young children facing challenges such as isolation, mental health difficulties and poverty. With our support, families avoid crisis point and children thrive.

Home-Start London is an independent charity that connects and strengthens the 16 local Home-Starts in the capital so that together we can reach more families. Collectively, our network supported over 6,500 families including 9,500 children last year.

About the role

Working closely with the Director and Home-Start staff, volunteers and partners across the capital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of our joint projects and activities from our peer learning groups and network events to our growing portfolio of funded partnerships.

What you'll be working on:

- You’ll take the lead on coordinating our peer learning groups, joint research and volunteer recruitment campaigns

- You’ll support the Director to secure and manage funding partnerships, including monitoring plans and budgets

- You’ll oversee development and monitoring of Home-Start London’s annual operational plan

- You’ll regularly engage with local Home-Starts and partners, ensuring they are shaping our work

- You’ll oversee logistics for network events

- You’ll provide administrative support, from raising invoices to organising/chairing network meetings

- You’ll create content for our website and social media to help promote our work

- You’ll manage office volunteers, ensuring they are happy, effective and well supported

For a large commercially focused charity in London, we're recruiting a Property and Asset Manager for a 6-month contract to manage the performance of their property assets portfolio and ensure the delivery of a high-quality service to all users. The portfolio is a mix of commercial freehold, leasehold and managed service sites in the UK and some internationally. The Property and Asset Manager will report to the Director of Commercial Operations and will lead the management of freehold and leasehold commitments and develop both short-term and long-term property strategies.

Main Duties:

• Manage the performance of the property assets and ensure a high-quality of service delivery for a mix of around 40 properties across its portfolio of commercial freehold, leasehold and managed services sits in the UK and internationally
• Establish KPIs for properties across the portfolio

• Establish a clear reporting process for the documentation and budget planning for management and forecasting of property commitments

The main duties of the role

• To work with the Impact and Operations teams to improve programme evaluation, including designing qualitative and quantitative impact and process evaluations.

Finance and Resources Manager (Full Time)

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.  

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.

Working with colleagues from across the organisation and our members, the Learning and Skills Manager (Wales) will spearhead the IOP's efforts to increase the visibility and impact of our work in this crucial area. Building and maintaining high level relationships across the education and skills sectors in Wales, the post-holder will help us to develop and share our expertise, and influence the development of qualifications, curricula and learning pathways, as well as lead a team providing direct support to teachers.

The Role

This exciting fixed-term role will help the IOP to understand and support Wales’s education and skills sectors and to ensure that the voice of Wales is heard and represented in the IOP’s broader work across the UK and Ireland. The Learning and Skills Manager (Wales) also leads a team of professional teacher CPD coaches and a Welsh Government funded project that provides support to non-specialist teachers of physics and help schools to nurture an equitable and supportive learning environment.

• Advising colleagues across the IOP of education and skills policy, practice and priorities in Wales.
• Offering advice and making recommendations to senior colleagues, members, trustees and external stakeholders.

Projects you work on may include:

• Scoping and delivering the Welsh elements of collaborative, cross-IOP projects, in particular those led by the Learning and Skills team.
• Working with colleagues to develop new policy positions, such as on the recruitment, retention and training of teachers.
• Leading a Welsh Government funded project supporting non-specialist teachers of physics and encouraging greater equity in schools.

Role overview

This key role manages our flagship and award-winning project supporting refugees with IT Hardware. The project collects IT Hardware, refurbishes and repairs it through our network of technicians, matches it with a suitable recipient through our referral process and then distributes it to charities and individual refugees and asylum seekers at no cost to the recipient. The project is in its third year, in which it will grow to overseeing e-waste collection and tech re-sale.

This role has two central arms: project management and volunteer management. 

Overall management of the project includes key decision-making on tech refurbishment and distribution, building and maintaining key partnerships, impact reporting, staff management, external representation, developing and recording institutional memory and supporting the project's strategic growth with support from the Director. The postholder will be responsible for working with their team to maintain the smooth running of the project and deliver the project outcomes. They will deputise for the Director where necessary.

Volunteer management predominantly looks like the recruitment, coordination, training and retention of technical volunteers, many of whom are asylum seeking graduates of our tech training course. The post holder will be the go-to person for the volunteers and provide technical and management support with the help of our Technical Lead. 

We know good project managers have a variety of skills and experience. We are not running a personal specification, but the strongest applications will indicate staff management experience and basic knowledge of IT repair.

Outcome 1 - Manage the Digital Access project and the team working to deliver its outcomes 

• Oversee the logistics and operations involved in collecting, storing and redistributing large quantities of IT Hardware, including the distribution of Data SIM cards to recipients with support from your team.

• Work with the Engagement Manager to identify and communicate with businesses, individuals and other sources of IT Hardware to explain our process and the impact of the project.

• Oversee the smooth running of and improvements to the referral process through which charity partners and individual refugees apply for and receive devices.

• Ensure the project goals are delivered on time and within budget.

• Provide thoughtful and kind management of the Operations Coordinator and Operations Assistant, meeting regularly and supporting their development.

• Record the institutional memory of the project through a digital guide to the processes and learnings which constitute the Digital Access programme. 

• Ensure everyone at Screen Share who engages with the project does so in line with our safeguarding and privacy policies.

Outcome 2 - Monitor, evaluate and communicate the impact of our device provision 

• Collate and present service user and device data (e.g use-case, age, geography) on a monthly and quarterly basis which represents our impact on the ground for internal and external audiences.

• Lead on the measurement of our impact through collection of case studies and distribution of our feedback form.

• Critically analyse and improve our impact measurement process to ensure it is ethical and fit for purpose.

• Work directly with service users, the Director and Communications team to produce compelling stories of the impact of Screen Share’s provision, with particular focus on our annual impact report.

Outcome 3 - Coordinate tech volunteers, external repair partners and technical staff (tech agents) to secure a regular flow of repair and refurbishment

• Oversee the process by which tech agents request and receive parts for the refurbishment process (hardware, software and tools).

• Work with our Technical Lead to ensure tech agents are provisioning devices consistently across our suite.

• Ensure the smooth implementation of changes to our technical provision.

• Critically analyse and improve the way in which the repair and refurbishment process is technically facilitated and recorded.

• Design and Deliver a tech volunteer retention strategy.

• Ensure our repair and refurbishment costs do not exceed our budget.

• Conduct in-person reviews with tech agents to monitor their progress and provide quality assurance. 

• Explain our process to prospective repair partners and onboard them onto our system.

Outcome 4 - Recruit, train and support new technical volunteers

• Design and implement a nationwide technical volunteer recruitment and retention strategy which establishes a regular flow of technical volunteers into Screen Share, including and especially volunteers from an asylum seeking background and those who have graduated from our training course.

• Facilitate tech volunteer onboarding including external references, interviews and safeguarding.

• Coordinate and lead monthly volunteer tech team meetings. 

• Explore partnerships with local tech businesses or refugees for paid refurbishment.

• Run basic laptop refurbishment refresher training for new volunteers in need of support.

Outcome 5  - Ensure Screen Share tech agent records are kept up to date

• Ensure the tech agent base is kept up to date at all times with all necessary details to facilitate refurbishment 

• Ensure contact logs are maintained for each tech agent in accordance with GDPR legislation and that holidays/preferences/issues are recorded

• Ensure the right staff can access notes on 1:1’s with tech volunteers 

• Analyse tech agent data thematically, implementing adjustments on a regular basis 

Outcome 6 - Contribute to the strategic development of the project and ensure the Director receives appropriate support 

• Represent the project to prospective partners, local councils and at public events, increasing its visibility within the refugee and tech sector.

• Design and implement experiments to test assumptions, minimise risk and scale the project.

• Deputise for the Founder and Director in internal and external settings where necessary.

I am delighted to be working with a fantastic charity in search of an Interim Finance Manager. This is a full-time, London based hybrid role for 6-months. As Finance Manager you will have responsibility for primarily the management accounts of the Charity. The Finance Manager will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager, the Head of Foundation and the rest of the Senior Leadership team to ensure that the Charity is financially controlled and effectively and efficiently managed in all areas of operation.

The Finance Manager is ‘hands-on’ leading and managing on the Foundation targets set out within the Foundation’s five year ‘Grow & Improve’ strategy. He/she works across all of the Foundation’s operations team and the Business team to ensure that all parts of the Charity are well managed and financially controlled, building the base on which the Foundation can continue to thrive and grow.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts on a timely basis and assistance with the timely preparation of the Finance Report for the regular Trustee meetings.

Assist to ensure that the Charity complies with all financial, reporting and record keeping requirements.

Assist with compliance issues with the Charity Commission and Companies House and associated regulations.

Support the development and implementation of the ‘Grow and Improve’ strategy, in close partnership with the Senior Finance Manager, Head of Foundation and the Senior Leadership Team with an ability to challenge ideas.

A Finance expert, who can support peers and staff to develop their financial competencies, while ensuring staff feel valued and respected to excel in their roles.

You demonstrate the business acumen and relationship building skills to financially manage and control the Charity including assistance with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts and to manage the day to day financial transactions.

You have the skills and experience to manage and maintain the necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management on a cost effective basis.
