About the Role
We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.
As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand. This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.
We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community. It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications. You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
- Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
- External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
- Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
- Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
- Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts.
Person Specification
Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

In this new, impactful role, you will be responsible for mobilising and subsequently continuously improving a new network engagement and support function. The aim of the function is to significantly enhance the understanding the of needs, views and priorities of local Age UKs and the way in which the national organisation connects with, engages, and supports them.
Working collaboratively with local Age UKs and national teams, the Director of Network Engagement & Support will be responsible for developing and implementing a network engagement and support strategy. This includes driving forward changes that may include the type of support provided, the way in which it is delivered and how it is monitored and measured to ensure our approach is responsive, sustainable and supports the strategic objectives and operational needs of the network.
This will require collaborative working across a range of teams to ensure a coherent and coordinated approach. Job Purpose:
The Housing Options Officer will provide direct support to vulnerable young people, assisting them in moving toward independent living. This involves offering high-quality advice and guidance on housing options, benefits, budgeting, and life skills, all within a psychologically informed environment. The role requires collaboration with various external agencies to ensure that the diverse needs of the residents are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Housing Needs:
- Conduct interviews, assessments, and move-ins for potential residents in a timely manner, ensuring thorough inductions for new residents.
- Develop outcome-focused support plans and conduct needs and risk assessments.
- Provide benefit advice and guidance to residents, helping them maintain their accommodation and prevent rent arrears.

Regulatory Standards and Compliance:
- Ensure all residents can influence service delivery and comply with regulatory standards.
Data Protection:

Other:

The Purpose of the Role
The Grants Manager ensures the quality of and efficient processes for proposal development and grants management; and manages the delivery of the IRC UK’s business development ambitions under the Strategic Action Plan.
Key Working Relationships:
Position reports to Director RAI UK. Position works closely with the Regional Grants Advisor, Program Development Advisor, Head of Programmes and RAI UK project leads.
Key Accountabilities:
Business Development:
- Identify, investigate, track, and support positioning for funding opportunities for IRC UK in in collaboration with regional business development and RAI UK management
- Develop, lead, and track proposal development processes, directly coordinating and managing the development of proposals and concept notes in collaboration with multiple stakeholders;
- Ensure proposals are timely tracked with standard IRC tracking tools
- Assist in compiling and editing proposal budgets and ensure communication and coordination between all departments (finance, programs, and operations) in drafting of budgets
- Provide weekly update to RAI UK on business development, including go/no-go, proposals submitted, wins / losses, etc;
- Drive IRC best practice in business development, including MEL, PEERS, financial planning, the IRC Way, etc;
- Allocate business development tasks and responsibilities to proposal and opportunity team;
- Maintenance of BD records: Pipeline , Partner tracker, BD Notebook (partner meetings, Go-No/Go, positioning, etc.,)
Grants & Contract Management
- Ensure that grants and contracts are implemented in compliance with IRC and relevant donor regulations, as well as maintenance of updated grant files and grant management tools;
- Support Project Managers with quarterly project implementation meetings, following up on any action points related to donor communication and flagging any concerns to RAI leadership in a timely manner;
- Assist project managers, operations staff, and partners with understanding the reporting and other compliance requirements on their grants/sub-grants;
- Manage all reporting deadlines, develop calendars for report development and coordinate report compilation and review;
- Support the MEL team to develop strong Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning practices throughout the portfolio;
- Coordinate modifications to any agreements or projects (i.e. extensions, indicator changes, budget realignments), as necessary;
- Act as focal point for communications with Regional Program Support Team (RPST) around grants administration and compliance functions;
- Act as Compliance officer for UK grants such as the Refugee Employability Project (REP), ensuring adherence to contract requirements such as social value and KPIs, standard contract T&Cs;
- Coordinate with donors on grants management, project progress, monitoring and evaluation.
Partnership Management
- Support in stakeholder analysis and potential partner identification on business development, live projects and for future opportunities;
- Oversee the process of negotiating pre-award agreements with potential partners;
- Work with Programme Managers to keep Partner Tracker up to date;
- Review and advise on all partner agreements (including log frame, budget, spending and workplan); ensure review of partner agreements and provide recommendations
- Ensure adherence to IRC’s Partnership Excellence for Equality and Results System (the ‘PEER System’ or ‘PEERS’) in the selection and management of IRC UK’s partnerships.
- Support Programme Officer with partner vetting and due diligence process in line with IRC’s policies and standards and support collaborative risk management and project design
- Support the review of the performance of the partner, of the IRC (including on the basis of partner feedback), and of the partnership, including successes, challenges and lessons learned, fostering ongoing partnerships beyond the sub-award project cycle.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

The Head of Corporate Partnerships is a key leadership role within the Income and Engagement Directorate. Breaking Barriers’ relationship with corporate partners is the USP upon which our growth and success as an organisation has been built. The Head of Corporate Partnerships has accountability for generating income, impact and influence from the private sector, and for leading a high-performing team to achieve ambitious growth and scale for refugees around the UK.
As Breaking Barriers has grown from a start-up organisation to a now 60-strong team raising c. £4m and supporting more than 1,200 refugees annually, our corporate partnerships have expanded beyond our original London base to be nationwide partnerships with a wide range of businesses and employers. You will lead a team to deliver outstanding partnerships management of a range of strategic and multi-faceted relationships with a portfolio of c.50 businesses alongside leading strategy for business development. Leading by example you will own a number of our key relationships to drive growth, whilst bringing your experience to bear to coach your team and ensure structures and processes are in place to enable high performance.

We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Leader to secure funding from diverse sources to support our program and initiatives. We are looking for a Corporate Partnerships Manager to support the Head of Membership Engagement in the overall development and delivery of commercial revenue streams at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising. This will include all current sponsorship for conferences, including our flagship Fundraising Convention, corporate membership, and strategic partnerships.
