With 1 in 5 children struggling with their mental health, our surf therapy intervention is needed now more than ever. We transform the lives of children struggling with depression and anxiety. Through our 6 week course we help them to feel calm, confident, to have positive thoughts about themselves, to have higher self esteem and trust in others. We work with over 2000 children and young people across the UK every year and have reached over 14,000 over the past 14 years.

It is an exciting time to join the charity - we have a new CEO in post who has plans to take this charity to new heights - reaching even more children than ever before and we need an experienced fundraiser who can help us achieve that vision. Working as part of a small fundraising team you will have the ability to really make a substantial difference.

The role is advertised as 15 hours however there is the hope that this will end up being increased in the not too distant future. We will consider candidiates working remotely but for those based near HQ (Newquay, Cornwall) you will be able to join in with our pre work swims/paddles/coffee on the beach and our Bring and Share lunches! Please do not feel like you need to be a seasoned surfer for this role - the majority of the non delivery team are also not surfers!

About the role:

As our organised and conscientious Supporter Operations Officer you will provide effective monitoring of our internal supporter response handling processes, including donation and query management, and bring to the role an understanding of regulations that affect the management of supporter data, and the processing of financial responses.

About the Team:
The Supporter Operations Team plays a central role in delivering an exceptional supporter experience, ensuring smooth internal and external fulfilment to maximise supporter engagement in order to meet our ambitious targets.
This role sits within the Supporter Operations sub-team, reporting into the Supporter Operations Manager. The Supporter Operations Team plays a central role in supporting our fundraising teams, to maximise supporter engagement and ensure that the fulfilment of our fundraising appeals, donor thanking and donation processes are carried out correctly and in compliance with all relevant regulations

About the Role:

In this role, you will manage the team’s workload, forecasting expected capacity to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly tasks are planned out and completed in accordance with set KPIs. As well as supporting the Supporter Operations Manager in monitoring & evaluating the performance of the Operations team using reports to investigate any unusual results/trends. 

You’ll also: 

• Bring to the role a keen understanding of supporter response handling, the intricacies of processing donations, Direct Debits, Gift Aid, and communication preferences
• Assist with due diligence processes within the wider SEO team, specifically focusing on internal data security practices, response handling accuracy, and adherence to relevant regulatory requirements such as those for Gift Aid or the BACS scheme for Direct Debits 
• Proactively identify processes for improvement across the Supporter Experience & Operations Team to deliver efficiencies and improve the effectiveness of internal procedures 

• Support campaign managers and other colleagues with any new or existing projects relating to fundraising operations, working closely with internal stakeholders, ensuring requirements are clear and fully documented

• Knowledge of the rules and regulations of Gift Aid, Direct Debit, Data protection and PCI-DSS compliance 
• Strong team player. Proven experience and/ or evidence of providing support/supervision/ training to team members
• Experience of documenting business processes, and comfortable with communicating and influencing a range of stakeholders
• Experience of income processing and donor response handling
• Excellent IT skills (use of Microsoft products, particularly Excel) with ability to analyse data accurately
• High attention to detail with ability to work methodically, ensuring minimal errors, and able to problem solve should errors arise 
• Ability to analyse fundraiser requirements, and capable of providing the best fulfilment solution working with internal stakeholders
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to listen, understand, analyse and resolve queries of a technical nature (incl. complex queries). Demonstrate an innovative approach to problem solving with the ability to implement robust solutions, taking into account future requirements
• Excellent time management skills. Proven ability to manage & prioritise own workload, conflicting tasks/ deadlines effectively and successfully

About the role:

The role plays a key role in developing and delivering our media & communication strategy both internal and external, supporting the Head of Media & Communications. The role is key in ensuring that the public, partners, stakeholders and our people are informed and engaged with the work of Drinkaware.

The key areas of responsibility are:

· Planning, implementing and evaluating Drinkaware’s media and communications activities

· Raising Drinkaware’s profile and voice in the media

· Working across the organisation to create engaging communications

· Leading on Internal Communications, developing and implementing communication plans to ensure staff are engaged

· Supporting the Head of Media and the Senior Leadership Team in managing reputational risk

Supporting Social Media & Content Officer in developing and growing our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn).

· Manage Drinkaware’s press office, responding to enquiries, maximising coverage, drafting media releases and providing an out-of-hours system on occasion.

· Manage key organisational communications related to Drinkaware’s positions, in conjunction with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs and the Director of Evidence and Impact.

· Manage, review and update Drinkaware’s lines to take; its ‘boilerplate’ messages and its standard responses.

· Advise others on Drinkaware tone of voice and brand to help ensure all content leaving the organisation is on brand and enhances our reputation.

· Contribute to feeding media and strategic communications activity into the organisational planning process and overall plan.

· Contribute to key reference documents (organisational key messages; editorial guidelines etc)

· Deliver compelling content and plans to Drinkaware’s stakeholder audiences. Working with internal teams to target funders and other stakeholders including health professionals, police, local government and academics.

· Maximise our profile with B2B audiences via trade publications; social media and news outlets.

· Keep Drinkaware staff informed about Drinkaware coverage and other relevant coverage around alcohol and alcohol harm.

· Develop and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders and journalists and build a positive network with media counterparts in Drinkaware partners and stakeholder organisations.

· Work with Drinkaware colleagues to maximise our communications’ reach and ensure we are working in an efficient and integrated way.

· Work with the Head of Media and Communications to develop Drinkaware’s reputation positively across all media, mitigating reputational risk and leading on crisis management

· Work with Head of Communications to plan and deliver effective Internal Communications

· Support the Senior Social Media & Digital Content Officer in manging the Drinkaware social channels when required.

Tone of voice

· Become expert in the Drinkaware Tone of voice, so you can advise others and spot errors

· Support the Creative Content Lead in embedding the Tone of voice across Drinkaware

You will have a track record of working within a similar role. You will have experience in working in a press office, devising and delivering stories and coverage.
