Leadership

The Group Finance Director holds a key role in the executive team in the Foundation Office of the Charity. They are accountable for all matters relating to the UWGCF Charity finance, including the oversight of school income, endowment investments, loans, subsidiary companies, VAT, and the leadership of the Foundation finance team. To succeed in the job, the post holder needs to build effective working relationships with independent school bursars and finance teams and link effectively with the Business managers in the state funded academies.

The CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the charity, overseeing the operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the organisation, and ensuring the charity's continued impact in line with its Christian values and mission. The Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust was established in 1982 to support UK registered animal welfare charities involved with the rescue, rehabilitation, release and rehoming of domestic and wild animals; the conservation of wildlife and its habitat and the promotion of the understanding of animals and their welfare. By giving to smaller organisations, relatively modest grants can have a significant impact on animals and those who care for them.
As Administrative Assistant you will work alongside the Administrator to ensure this impact is sustained by monitoring and evaluating applications from submission through to awarding and beyond. You will liaise with applicants, guiding them through the process, while also keeping in contact with our Board of Trustees. Meetings are held six times a year to agree awards and you will produce reports and summaries to aid Trustee’s decisions.

You will be actively involved in the day to day running of a small office with financial and premises management being core tasks. As you grow into the role there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility and learn about charity administration.

- Setting up and maintaining accurate records via databases, spreadsheets and electronic filing systems

- Financial tasks (payments, invoice tracking, monitoring expenditure and income)
- Organising meetings, including preparation of meeting materials and taking minutes
- Creating and maintaining social media accounts for a small organisation
Essential skills are:

- Accurate numeracy
- IT skills including - Microsoft Word and Excel, emails, Teams, Microsoft Sharepoint
- Time management and prioritisation of a varied workload

You will be responsible for leading all aspects of our success, drawing on your deep experience to ensure above all that our services are safe, effective and survivor-led.
Inspiring and dynamic, you will bring experience in a similar role, including running a complex organisation with a substantial change agenda and front-line operations and will have a strong commitment to feminism, empowerment, support and equality.

- Provide high quality, professional governance services as well as support successful AGMs and elections.
- Work across a full range of governance activities, leading on identifying and delivering opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our governance.
- Provide support for fitness to practice cases and act as hearing co-ordinator to fitness to practice panels.
The contract will be for a period of 3 years, commencing January 2025. As such, the salary noted above does not apply, fees will be agreed as part of the Invitation To Tender (ITT) process.
