I am delighted to be working with a fantastic charity in search of an Interim Finance Manager. This is a full-time, London based hybrid role for 6-months. As Finance Manager you will have responsibility for primarily the management accounts of the Charity. The Finance Manager will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager, the Head of Foundation and the rest of the Senior Leadership team to ensure that the Charity is financially controlled and effectively and efficiently managed in all areas of operation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts on a timely basis and assistance with the timely preparation of the Finance Report for the regular Trustee meetings.

Assist to ensure that the Charity complies with all financial, reporting and record keeping requirements.

Assist with compliance issues with the Charity Commission and Companies House and associated regulations.

Support the development and implementation of the ‘Grow and Improve’ strategy, in close partnership with the Senior Finance Manager, Head of Foundation and the Senior Leadership Team with an ability to challenge ideas.

A Finance expert, who can support peers and staff to develop their financial competencies, while ensuring staff feel valued and respected to excel in their roles.

You demonstrate the business acumen and relationship building skills to financially manage and control the Charity including assistance with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts and to manage the day to day financial transactions.

You have the skills and experience to manage and maintain the necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management on a cost effective basis.

This is a new part-time role combining operational management of our small office based in Central London, with supporting and developing the governance activities of an ambitious and growing charity.

Hands-on experience managing the operations of small to medium sized organisations is essential, particularly facilities and office management, health and safety, and IT (working with an outsourced IT Support provider).

You will support the CEO and Director of Finance & Resources with governance activities including preparing for and running board and sub-committee meetings. You will need to be a confident minute-taker with a good eye for detail, and have experience in collating high-quality board paper packs.

The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The work is focused on the Church Road Estate, Stonebridge Estate, St Raphael’s Estate, Chalkhill Estate and Harlesden Town Centre areas.

The Role of the Programme Manager

The Programme Manager will act as the glue between consortium members and provide a key link with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and the community. The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting consortium members with project deliverables where necessary, optimising the integration of provision, overseeing referrals, and brokering community partnerships. The Programme Manager will also schedule meetings and shared activities, provide secretarial support, and represent Step Up Hub and the consortium at relevant meetings.

In addition, the Programme Manager will:

· be responsible for line management of two other Step Up Hub staff members working on I AM Brent programme deliverables, a Network and Communication Lead and a Community Engagement Lead,

· manage, report on, monitor and evaluate the progress of interventions,

· report to VRU, attend VRU meetings, and cascade relevant information from the VRU to consortium members,

· be responsible for engaging stakeholders and community partners, identifying and leveraging their skills, expertise and assets, and leading on youth and community forums

· help engender an environment of trust and collaboration to support stakeholders and community partners engage positively with Step Up Hub and the consortium,

· manage a grant pot and support the delivery of small projects that are funded from it,

· work to actively promote the consortium and Step Up Hub’s activities, as per the organisational guidelines, through producing publicity materials and written reports for regular newsletters and by keeping the website updated,

· coordinate and monitor project budgets, working alongside the finance officer as required,

· ensure that safeguarding is central to the service delivery and is systemically built into case management processes,

· ensure equality of opportunity is embedded in all service delivery by Step Up Hub and consortium partners,

· provide secretarial services for the project steering group, progress meetings and small grants awarding panel.

The programme manager will be supported by the Step Up Hub senior leadership team and consortium partners on all aspects of programme delivery.

Gunnersbury Park is a beautiful public space between Acton, Brentford, Chiswick and Ealing in West London. Purchased for the nation from the Rothschild family, it was opened to the public by Neville Chamberlain in 1926. A major £50m restoration project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund was completed in 2018, the park and garden is Grade II listed.

The Charitable Trust’s aim is to make Gunnersbury an outstanding, sustainable green space, celebrating its unique heritage and providing a wide range of educational and cultural activities, events and facilities accessible to all members of the community. Also, to conserve, manage and develop Gunnersbury Estate as a sustainable, recreational, cultural, and educational resource for the benefit of, and in partnership with, all of its local communities.

The role:

This person will have responsibility for the management, maintenance and improvement of the 185 acres of sports, nature areas, heritage parkland and gardens for the benefit of the local community and beyond. This will involve extensive horticultural management responsibilities in addition to a broad range of support, logistical and administrative activities. These will include extensive stakeholder engagement, contract management, finance and budgeting, public health and safety, procurement and team member management and development. This is a very broad role with a wide array of systems management and day to day park management responsibilities. This person will also be a true ambassador for the Park, both with members of the public and those who come into contact with the Park professionally.

The person:

The successful candidate will have extensive Park Management experience in a similar sized public park or community green space. They will have experience of managing service contracts, managing in-house teams, developing volunteer and outreach programs and ideally, of successfully applying for Grant funding in similar spaces and delivering on these agreements. A warm and approachable person, the ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for Park management and involving the public in regular use and patronage of these special green spaces. This person will also be numerate and well-organised with good logistical, administrative and back office management experience.

This person’s role as an ambassador for the Gunnersbury Park can not be overstated, this will be a core aspect of the role and we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys managing big public parks, green spaces, bio-diversity and preserving these spaces for future generations.

About the role

As the new Community and Events Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Community Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.

Main duties

• Help deliver the teams’ existing events and community fundraising products, growing net income and actively seeking new opportunities for expansion.
• Act as an ambassador for The Passage with community groups, personally delivering talks and presentations to build relationships and promote our work.
• Manage and oversee a programme of station and street collections, ensuring that volunteers are trained and equipped to represent The Passage with the public.
• Manage current community and events fundraising relationships with individual supporters and groups by providing outstanding, tailored stewardship to generate income.
• Help deliver and develop a range of The Passage owned and third-party events and activities.
• Produce and manage the Community Fundraising income and expenditure annual plan and budget.

Desired experience

• Developing and implementing community fundraising plans and activities and a proven track record in growing income.
• Experience of recruiting new fundraisers and providing excellent stewardship.
• Direct experience of working with community groups or local organisations such as schools, churches and universities, generating new leads and managing partnerships.
• Experience of planning, organising and delivering new projects and/or events.
• Recruiting and supervising volunteers.
