Overall purpose

This is a key role that will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager, Head of Public Engagement and Senior Digital Marketing Manager.

You will contribute to the implementation of our communications, engagement and fundraising strategies, ensuring that your work is anchored in our organisational and team strategic goals. You will also be closely involved in team planning, whether it’s inputting into our operational plan or sharing ideas for new campaigns. 

There are opportunities to get hands-on developing and delivering communications and fundraising campaigns to educate and inspire individuals, businesses, and other audiences. The aim of these campaigns is to help remove barriers to employment for refugees and bring about systemic change via our partnerships. Please note, we do not currently run political campaigns.

You will be responsible for creating and delivering day-to-day communications across our owned channels (social media, email newsletters, and some website content). You will also help colleagues create content for earned and paid communications that they’re leading on (press and media, digital marketing, engagement with influencers)

A team player, you will build strong relationships across Breaking Barriers so that you can source and develop content that:

• increases our visibility and influence
• showcases our impact
• inspires members of the public to help refugees build new lives in the UK
• engages and stewards our key audiences, including corporate partners, employees who advocate for refugees, individual donors, volunteers, and people of a refugee background.

You will support the Senior Communications Manager to maintain our strong brand, ensuring that all our content complies with our brand guidelines and is of a high standard.

With a good eye for detail, you will play a key role in our data management, including overseeing data on the storytelling section of our CRM, monitoring communications enquiries, and setting up and running reports. You will become a Salesforce Superuser (full training and support will be provided for this).

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Individual Giving Officer to become an integral member of the fundraising team as we look to diversify and grow our individual giving programme.

Individual giving is a key income stream for Born Free, and you will be supporting the Head of Public Fundraising to grow income from new and existing supporters, including through existing products and testing new ways for people to give. The successful candidate will be involved in areas such as our adoption programme, lottery, appeals, supporter acquisition, retention, stewardship, and digital fundraising.

You will be highly motivated and passionate about the mission of Born Free and bring the experience of working in a fundraising team to help grow and diversify the individual giving programme.

The Role

Working collaboratively with the Head of Public Fundraising to develop and implement the Individual Giving strategy for income growth and supporter retention. The successful candidate will be detail-orientated, a team player, creative and able to work collaboratively as well as independently.

Resourceful, organised and a proactive team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will need to juggle both creative and data tasks with drive and enthusiasm, be able to work with minimum supervision and show good judgement and initiative.

Key tasks will include:

• Supporter acquisition: work with Head of Public Fundraising to develop, project manage and deliver an integrated multi-channel rolling supporter acquisition across the individual giving portfolio.
• Supporter retention, journeys, and engagement: work with the Head of Public Fundraising, Supporter Database & Insight Manager, and Communications team to project manage, and deliver a successful supporter journey to reduce attrition across the individual giving portfolio, and deliver on appeals and other supporter mailings.
• Digital Marketing: project manage and champion digital fundraising for individual giving, supporting the Social Media Manager and the Marketing Manager with the development of content.
• Manage suppliers and stakeholders: Ensuring high standards of delivery and collaboration are maintained within budgets and procurement requirements.
• Data insight: Work alongside the Head of Public Fundraising and Supporter Data & Insight Manager to ensure the selection and segmentation maximise results. Use campaign data to track and report on the effectiveness of activity, attrition levels, and inform decision-making and future planning.
• Strategy & Planning: Work alongside the Head of Public Fundraising and Director of Fundraising to produce and execute an effective and sustainable individual giving plan to grow income from new and existing donors.
• Budgets: Support the Head of Public Fundraising with compiling budgets, phasing and monitoring Individual Giving income and expenditure.
• External trends and regulation: Keep up to date with fundraising trends and legislation in relation to public fundraising, and ensure compliance with the Charity Commission, fundraising regulation and data protection requirements, including the General Data Protection Directive; Ensure all individual giving activity complies with the appropriate regulation and legislation and delivers an excellent experience for supporters.

The successful candidate should ideally demonstrate the following attributes:

• Direct marketing experience (essential) and digital marketing experience (essential)
• Highly numerate and extremely comfortable working with data, spreadsheets and KPIs
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build effective relationships with colleagues, donors and external suppliers.
• Proven experience in working with Microsoft Office, Excel, and relational databases (including data input), ideally with knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or equivalent CRM.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively to both external and internal audiences.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills and an ability to prioritise work, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines, with a strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with third party suppliers including creative agencies, printers and fulfilment house.
• A team-minded approach - taking others on the journey with you and sharing knowledge / expertise for the benefit of the wider fundraising team and organisation.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place. 

We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms.  You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally.

• To deliver Shine's Little Stars (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) project for 0–12-year-olds, supporting early years and younger members with their families, their diagnosis and beyond across the Southern Region. This role comes at an exciting time with the opportunity to lead the growth of MQ’s Development Team as we expand our capacity across all these areas of income generation. MQ currently has at least one role under each area and there is desire, supported by the board of trustees, for further recruitment to strengthen each as needed.

Here's a summary of your key responsibilities:

• Provide inspirational leadership to the MQ Development Team, managing the current team of five to deliver our £3m 2025 budget

• Capitalise on the expertise and networks of MQ’s senior volunteers, including working closely with MQ trustees and other Development Team colleagues to maximise existing opportunities for introductions, including the Lord Mayor’s Appeal
• Develop MQ’s ability to carry out targeted and systematic research to establish new high value prospects utilising existing networks, the MQ database, search engines and referrals

About you:

This role is for you, if you have fundraising experience with grants and foundations as well as corporate fundraising and/or new business acquisition experience. This means you will have experience in stewarding and securing new gifts from foundations as well as researching new opportunities to apply for funds.

You will also be skilled in understanding and translating complex information and turning it in to compelling written proposals, for grants, corporate partnerships and major donors.

You will be driven to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and be a sophisticated communicator with the confidence to build relationships with and inspire colleagues and donors.

We do require someone who is proactive, hardworking and results-focused.

Experience of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT is desirable but not essential.

The Charity

The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part. 

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and inspiring individual to oversee and lead our new YAT Resilience Programme. Following a successful pilot in Wiltshire in 2023, we are now launching the programme in Somerset, a new geographical location for the Youth Adventure Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of YAT’s growth, leading our first move outside of Wiltshire and Swindon. There is plenty of scope to develop this new programme, ensuring it meets its objectives and gives the best possible opportunities to the vulnerable young people who are referred to build their resilience and therefore improve their future lives. 

The Resilience Programme Lead will be responsible for;

• developing the content of the Resilience Programme including identifying, arranging and booking activities and other opportunities; and developing complementary materials such as reflective journals, take home challenges, online support and session plans for individual support.

• delivering the Resilience Programme to groups of young people, ensuring the highest standards of safety, wellbeing and engagement, acting as the key point of contact for them and their parents/carers throughout, and ensuring they get the maximum benefit from the opportunity. 

• the continued review and development of the programme content, experience and learning opportunities to ensure maximum outcomes and that programme objectives are fulfilled. You will seek the views and feedback of young people, and include them as well as other stakeholders in its development. Having a high quality programme that meets its aims is of the utmost importance to YAT and this will require a reflective, insightful and creative leader. 

• monitoring the impact of the programme on the young people taking part through use of our outcomes measurement tool and seeking feedback from young people, parents, referral agencies and volunteers. Reporting on this impact through success stories, data and analysis.

• working with the referral schools and young people’s families to promote understanding of the benefits of the programme, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require. Providing parents/carers and referral schools with feedback to help support the young person’s development and wellbeing. 

• line management for other Resilience Programme Managers, overseeing their workflow and delivery of the programme.

• working with the Volunteering Lead to recruit, train, support, organise and prepare volunteers who will work on the programme, including providing training and ensuring safe working practices and the highest standards of care and safeguarding. On activities you will oversee staff and providers who are brought in to support the delivery of the programme.

• overseeing the programme budget and ongoing expenditure review to ensure it is on track and achieves best value.

• overseeing and developing the programme’s website pages, database usage and administrative systems.

• scoping out and creating opportunities, contacts, networks and support in Somerset in order to raise YAT’s profile in the county.

The Candidate

Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. We are a place to explore the sea, space, art and history, and our strategy ‘Charting Our Course’ puts people at the core of its success.

Working in the Engagement department and reporting to the Adults and Communities Participation Manager, the Communities Participation Producer will create a year-round public programme of activities inspired by the collections, themes and sites of Royal Museums Greenwich. Key responsibilities include producing and delivering programmes in collaboration with community partners and stakeholders to create relevant, inclusive and inspiring activity across the Museum’s multiple sites. The role will focus on creating activity that welcomes underrepresented audiences to Royal Museums Greenwich sites, developing trusted relationships in the process and responding to the social purpose of the organisation.

The role will develop programmes that connect communities and collections around the legacies of empire, queer histories and stories of migration. This will involve working across generations to  facilitate dialogue around under-represented histories and current issues in a variety of formats including large scale public festivals, talks, workshops and more. The role will have a focus on developing participation opportunities for African and Caribbean and East and South-East Asian diaspora, as well as LGBTQ+ communities, to develop stronger connections with the collection and bring new perspectives to maritime history. This will involve audience research and internal dialogue to create supportive spaces and activity at Royal Museums Greenwich and contribute towards it becoming a more inclusive and representative organisation.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of delivering a range of inclusive cultural engagement provision for diverse audiences, including large-scale public events, and creating audience-led programmes for African and Caribbean/ East Asian/ South-East Asian diaspora communities.
