Magistrates are the unsung heroes of the criminal justice system, and it's fair to say that justice would grind to a halt without them. We're the Magistrates' Association – the membership body for England and Wales's magistrates – and we’re here to give magistrates a voice and to support them to be the very best magistrates they can be. We work with members and collaborate with the judiciary and across the wider legal industry to develop policy and to advocate for change on behalf of our members.
Magistrate, our quarterly magazine, is our most popular member benefit. Over the past two years we have developed and refined it, and it is consistently rated very highly by members as a key source of advice, information and inspiration.
The role
We are looking for a new Editor and Content Manager to lead the production of the magazine, help specify and develop a new digital version to run alongside the printed magazine, and to support the wider communications team, especially with content creation and the website.
What you will be doing
You will work closely with members, staff and suppliers to commission, edit and polish articles for the magazine and ensure that every page is top-quality and that it goes out to members on time and on-budget. On any one day in this exciting and varied role, you could be interviewing members for stories and spotlights, writing engaging articles for the magazine or our website, creating new website pages or editing existing ones, or sourcing on-brand images and photos.
The print magazine is very popular, and we now want to develop a winning digital version alongside the printed version, so one of your responsibilities will be to work with colleagues to oversee its digitisation.
You will also be part of our small but dedicated communications team, which is responsible for delivering not only the magazine, but also the MA’s successful media relations, social media posts and engagement, and the majority of our website content.
It’s an exciting role and, because we have a small staff team, you’ll have ample opportunities to work with colleagues and develop your skills.
Role details
Position: Editor and Content Manager
Responsible to: Head of Marketing and Communications
Location: We’re currently working 100% remotely. We are looking for an office site in the south bank/ Vauxhall area of London, so ideally you would be able to work in that area at least one day per week.
Hours: 21 hours per week (part-time). You could work these hours in three full days or spread over four or five days.
Salary: £35,000 per year (pro-rata)
Annual leave: 25 days annual leave (not including bank holidays) – again pro rata’d.

Overall purpose
The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. As well as managing relationships with our existing donors there will be a focus on creating new relationships through proactive prospecting and developing a long-term strategic approach to stewardship and relationship development.
You will be an ambitious, enthusiastic, energetic, and autonomous fundraiser with a demonstrable passion for supporting people from a refugee background. You will have a strong track record of high-value relationship management and fundraising, ideally specialising in Trusts, Statutory, Major Donor fundraising or a related area. We are looking for someone who can successfully secure and steward gifts of 5 figures and above – so evidence of stewarding high-value relationships and high-quality written skills are key. You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.
We welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills from other sectors and other areas of fundraising but a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of grant fundraising is essential. We are looking for a passionate individual who can get people excited about the work we do and who wants to make a difference in the lives of individuals from a refugee background. The role of the Head of National Services is instrumental in ensuring that we provide innovative support to people affected by poor mental health and mental illness.
It will be responsible for working closely with our Policy and Communications Team around nationally funded projects by Scottish Government and will play a key role in the National Management Team of Change Mental Health. The role will work closely with the Director of Services to develop and work in partnership with a range of different stakeholders to increase the impact of our work and generate new opportunities for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the safe and efficient operational delivery practice and development of National Services, including our Advice and Support Service, Distress Brief Intervention services (DBI), Suicide Bereavement Services and other national projects

Change Mental Health is a leading national mental health charity providing unique support to people with severe and enduring mental ill health. With over 50 years’ experience across Scotland, we believe people affected by poor mental health and illness deserve the highest quality of support in the community and that every person has the right to be valued and to share in the opportunities, challenges, and joys of everyday life.
In this critical role you will work closely with the Co-Investigator (Jim Hume, Director of Public Affairs & Communications) to ensure effective and impactful delivery of all project outputs and outcomes. The position is a multi-agency project employed by Change Mental Health and will be working in partnership with NHS Highland Public Health, High Life Highland, Museums Heritage Highland, Highland third sector organisations, local community groups and the academic research team.
Our Project Coordinator will engage very closely with regional and local community members, setting up and chairing groups where required in partnership with the wider research team, researching process and impact, developing a toolkit, and disseminating findings via events and online media and communication.
The position requires travel throughout the Highlands. Therefore we are looking for the candidate to be based in the highlands, or in Edinburgh (at our National Office).
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage the regional stakeholder group; organise and attend the group meetings, deputising for the Co-Investigator (Director of Public Affairs and Communications at Change Mental Health, Jim Hume) as required.
- Proactively assist in the set-up and management of the local co-design stakeholder groups in partnership with the research team; help with engaging local communities, networking and recruiting group members; liaise with Museums Heritage Highland and High Life Highland (providing venues).
- Chairing the co-design stakeholder groups and organising all the meetings.
- Organise online forums for the co-design groups to share experiences, which includes deputising for the Co-Investigator as required.
- Contribute fully and proactively to: (i) project research, for example by giving feedback on the co-design process; (ii) development of the project toolkit; and (iii) recording of project impacts.
- Dissemination of findings as required at multiple stages throughout the project including at the project’s conclusion, which will include leading the organisation of two dissemination events.

About you
We are looking for candidates who have:

Job Description
The Finance Manager is responsible for the management and technical support of the Finance function and acts as advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assists in the development of the organisation’s financial strategy, modelling new projects, preparing budgets and reporting on financial performance.
You will also be responsible for maintaining accounts on Xero and all related bookkeeping tasks.
Main duties and responsibilities

Responsibility for bookkeeping on the organisation’s accounting system (Xero);

Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the organisation and individual cost centres, including variance analysis and reports for the Board. This information should include a short narrative on the current position, future prospects, and financial risks and opportunities. The reports will be tailored as necessary for the Board and management;

Provide robust financial information including accurate balance sheets and a rolling cash flow forecast;

Act as key point of contact for project budget holders on financial matters;

Carry out regular reviews of spending under various grants, alerting budget holders and CEO to any actual or potential over or underspend;

Work with CEO and managers on fundraising bids and financial reports for funders;

Produce statutory accounts, files and schedules, in partnership with the3million’s accounting firm;

Monitor records of all funding and funding sources and the appropriate allocation of incoming funding;

Monitor monthly accrual of income and expenditure, deferral of income, maintenance of reconciliation to Xero, balance sheet changes and undertake bank reconciliations;

Monitor the accounts mailbox and ensure invoices are included in the accounting system, answering internal and external queries as they arise;

Act as main point of contact with banks, service providers, suppliers (when appropriate) and auditors;

Person Specification
The post requires the holder to:

Have an appropriate accounting qualification – in full or part (AAT, ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA);

Have a minimum of three years of professional experience, including experience of operating within a not-for-profit organisation (managing accounts for restricted and unrestricted funds);

Be proficient in Xero Online accounting software and Excel spreadsheets, including experience in using Power Query;

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation is a UK-wide charity that exists to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation. We're bold, we're pioneering, we're growing and we want your help.
Our Edinburgh based team – formerly known as Stop It Now Scotland – covers the whole of the country. Our practitioners have extensive backgrounds in child protection and sex offender rehabilitation. We provide individual and groupwork to around 150 adults and adolescents every year who present a sexual risk of harm to children who cannot access statutory service. We work with around 100 partners, family members and members of wider networks around these individuals. We use what we learn from our work to develop and deliver resources, information and training for professionals and the public, so that they can better protect children from harm and prevent abuse before it happens.
About you and the role
We are recruiting a practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team in Edinburgh to lead our work with children, young people and young adults up to the age of 21.
You will head up our flagship project working with high schools in Edinburgh promoting the prevention of harmful sexual behaviour in an educational context. This includes running workshops for parents on how they can promote positive and healthy relational and sexual development. It will include helping teachers respond sensitively and effectively to early concerns about children’s sexual behaviour. And it will involve working with young people themselves to help develop a curriculum that actively promotes prevention of sexual harm. You will work with our research team to help establish evaluation methods for all aspects of this project and to develop a scaleable model of prevention that can be rolled out across all schools, better protecting children from harm. You will work closely with our UK based Schools Project Manager who will support all aspects of this project.
You will also have a small caseload, working with young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour online. You will contribute to training, consultation and policy work in relation to tackling youth perpetrated sexual abuse. It’s a wide ranging and exciting role, and we will be able to support and train the successful candidate in all aspects of our work. You will be supported by our UK based young people’s team.
Our ideal candidate will be a dynamic practitioner with a proven ability to drive projects to achieve required outcomes. You will be professional, proactive and outcome-focused with exceptional communication and engagement skills and an ability to develop partnership ways of working with professionals and agencies. The role requires expert knowledge in relation to working with children who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour and significant experience with supporting and advising leaders, child care professionals, young people and parents. You will have an impeccable understanding of child protection policies and principles and evidence of working with safeguarding partners to keep children safe from harm. A track record of providing consultancy and training to other professionals is desirable.
You will be able to demonstrate confidence in translating the charity’s mission into direct child protection practice and equipping other professionals in tackling child sexual abuse.
