 About the Role:
Join us at the New Economics Foundation as a London Community Organiser for the Power to Prosper project, a collaborative initiative with The Runnymede Trust aimed at empowering everyday people to challenge the growing inequality, poverty, and problem debt in Britain. As a Community Organiser, you will work closely with our team and grassroots host organisations in London (Newham and Lambeth) to build community power, foster relationships, and support impactful campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership Development & Training: Coach and support a team of community organisers in delivering a roadmap aligned with the goals of the Power to Prosper project. Build collaborative relationships with diverse partner organisations, including Foodbanks, Faith groups, and Black and Ethnic minority-led organisations.
• Community Engagement & Campaigns: Support listening campaigns with partner organisations and communities to develop strategic actions that build the power of partner organisations and communities to address inequality and systemic injustice.
• Relationship and Partnership Building: Grow a network of relationships with organisations working directly with impacted people. Lead multi-organisational teams to deliver high-impact campaigns.
• Staff Support & Coaching: Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to enable leadership among team members and partners. Use coaching as a core leadership practice to foster a positive, collaborative work culture.
• Project Delivery & Management: Manage effective project roadmaps resulting in successful campaign wins. Ensure timely delivery of reports and maintain regular communication with line managers.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrable experience in community organising, campaign development, and leadership within impacted groups.
• Strong commitment to social, racial, and economic justice, with experience working directly with marginalised communities, including Black, Asian, and minority ethnic groups.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills across diverse audiences.
• Understanding of participatory action research (PAR) methodologies, community-led initiatives, and grassroots campaigning.

Additional Information:

This role reports to the Participatory Action Researcher and focuses on building the power of marginalised communities impacted by poverty, inequality, and problem debt. You will support partner organisations to integrate community organising into their work and advocate for systemic change.

As a key member of our small, dedicated team, you will be instrumental in developing and marketing Icon membership while delivering exceptional customer service. Specific duties

Membership services

• Processing membership applications.
• Maintaining accurate membership records on the CRM system (Ready Membership).
• Responding to enquiries from prospective members, existing members, colleagues and the general public within agreed customer service timeframes.

Data management

• Effectively use data analytics to understand impact and success rates and deliver informative regular reporting against agreed KPIs.

Content and communications

• Working collaboratively with the wider Icon Team to develop the annual communications plan in line with the annual operational plan.
• Developing, commissioning and delivering the production of content for Icon’s website and Social Media channels in line with communications plan.
• Maintaining and updating Icon’s website in line with analytics data and communications plan.
• Developing and issuing Icon’s monthly internal and external email newsletters.

Marketing

• Contributing to the implementation of Icon’s Membership Growth Strategy by assisting with the development of recruitment campaigns.
• Supporting the implementation of marketing plans and promotional ideas.
• Supporting the development of Icon’s Social Media strategy and contribute to Icon’s Email Marketing strategy by utilising external newsletters to support broader advocacy work and marketing lead generation.
• Coordinating Icon’s presence at partner and sector events, including the design and production of marketing collateral, ensuring a visible presence and effective contribution is achieved.

Other

• Support Icon’s 28 special interest groups, including responding to queries and administering and promoting group events.
• Actively contributing to the development of marketing and communication initiatives relating to wider activity within Icon.
• Any other responsibilities that may be reasonably requested by the Chief Executive

The Role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Research and Policy Officer to work on a full-time basis, 37 hours per week; alternatively, we will consider part-time hours on a Job Share basis. The role is hybrid and based in Newcastle upon Tyne or within a commutable distance to our national Headquarters in the city. 

A part of NEA’s Policy and Advocacy Directorate, you will work within our highly effective social research team as we focus on a decade of delivery that will ensure those on the lowest incomes and living in the least efficient homes receive the support needed to ensure their health and wellbeing are protected, but also one that guarantees a fair energy future for all.

The successful candidate will work and collaborate on the design, development and delivery of social research and evaluation projects that support the charity’s strategic aims and policy advocacy priorities. As well as undertaking mixed methods social research that foregrounds the lived experience of households, they will develop research-user and stakeholder relationships and integrate evidence-based insights from across the charity’s work programmes to influence and have impact across multiple areas of social policy and practice.

What you will need to succeed 

You will have demonstrable and applied experience in a social research role and hold a degree in a social science or related subject that included social research methods. You will be familiar and confident with both quantitative and qualitative methods and be highly motivated and purpose-driven, with a passion for research that leads to real-world impacts. 

A compelling communicator you will be able to produce well-structured reports, and have excellent interpersonal skills, including experience of leading one-to-one and group interviews.

You will also have proven experience of analysis software, SPSS and Nvivo (or similar), and competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite/365 applications. 

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of NEA’s mission to eradicate fuel poverty.

Are you ready to lead and develop this pioneering new project in partnership with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC). Do you thrive on building trust and engagement with young people, school communities and families?

The charity was founded in 2014 in memory of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. We inform, educate and campaign to help young people and the wider UK public reclaim the internet from those who seek to harm others through it. Our educational programmes reach thousands of students, parents and safeguarding professionals each year.

The Project

Over the last few years, the Breck Foundation worked closely with Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Surrey and Tower Hamlets to train cadets as ‘Breck Ambassadors’, equipping them with the training needed to talk in schools to their peers about staying safe online and the key signs of grooming.

We are proud to take this successful project further having secured funding with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) to recruit and train up to 30 ‘Youth Ambassadors’ (for online safety) in schools across Sussex. The Youth Ambassadors will learn how to tell Breck’s story and empower young people with the tools they need to stay safe online. Working closely with schools to enable the students to become Online Safety Ambassadors for their school community, advocate for their peers and to be a voice of expertise and counsel. You will work with schools and community groups to generate impact through Breck’s story (on online grooming) and other important topics related to children’s online safety.

This flagship project for the OSPCC will launch in April 2025 (Coordinator starts in January 2025) and run for at least 12 months, with potential funding up to three years. We hope it will set a precedent for others to follow our lead and develop similar programmes for young people across the UK.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

About this job

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

Do you have experience of working in drug services and with volunteers? Have you been affected by hepatitis C or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C? We are looking for a passionate and skilled peer lead who has excellent communication and organisational skills. Working under the guidance of the West Yorks Peer Programme Manager, this post will continue the development of the project, recruiting and coordinating peers across identified areas of the West Yorkshire ODN network. Working in partnership with hepatitis C clinical teams, drug and alcohol services and homeless service providers, the post will coordinate delivery of educational workshops, hepatitis C testing in community settings, ensure that service users are referred and supported through hepatitis C treatment and care.

This post will require extensive travel across the region and the post holder is required to hold a clean driving licence and have their own vehicle for work related travel.

With a new government in power, this is a critical time for our countryside and an exciting time to join CPRE, the countryside charity. As media officer, you’ll help to deliver high-profile coverage of CPRE’s work as part of an impactful and expanding team.

As the Senior Executive – Volunteering and Operations, you will take on a varied role at the Charity Hub, including:

• Transforming the Charity Hub at the hospital into a vibrant and welcoming space. 
• Overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, training and daily management of Volunteers and Charity staff. 
• Ensuring that the Hub serves as a dynamic space, offering essential information for all and providing engaging activities for patients and families, so they can learn more about GOSH Charity.

This is the ideal role for someone who wants a role with impact and to make their mark on the Charity Hub. 
 

Some of the key goals this role is working towards include:
 

• Expanding the Hub’s opening hours. 
• Integrating the Hub into the hospital environment. 
• Developing a comprehensive activity calendar.

Generalist Advice Worker/Advice Session Supervisor or Trainee position

This post is advertised as an exciting opportunity for an experienced Advice Session Supervisor to consolidate their skills and experience or as a development opportunity for an advisor to train to become an Advice Session Supervisor within six months of starting in post. If applying as a trainee the starting salary will be on NJC Scale 6 - £33,194 for the first six months whilst undertaking the training.

The post holder will be required to work across all of our offices and outreaches in Southwark according to operational needs.

The role includes:

• Providing advice to the public and undertaking casework on social welfare law issues
• Supervising advice and gateway assessment sessions
• Supporting and supervising staff and volunteers

To be successful you will need:

• Recent experience of giving advice to the public. This should include having undertaken advice casework.
• Experience of undertaking the role of Advice Session Supervisor or to demonstrate the ability to undertake this role with training provided within 6 months of starting
• To understand, empathise with and be committed to the Service’s aims, principles and equal opportunities policies

About the Role:

As the Interim Head of Policy, Public Affairs, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's impact. You'll lead a team in developing and implementing strategies to influence policy, engage with policymakers, and conduct research that drives their work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on policy, parliamentary and research issues – advising and inputting into projects and strategies across the organisation and delivering and developing business plans

• Designing and delivering media and political campaigns

• Engage with policymakers and stakeholders

• Lead and develop a team of policy and public affairs professionals

Qualifications:

• Strong experience within a similar role

• Track record of influencing and achieving policy change

What's on offer:
This role is offering a salary of 52,000 FTE for this 10 week contract, on a hybrid (London) or remote basis. This is a fast moving role and applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

This role is offered on a part-time basis, with an initial start of 4 days per week for the first month, reducing down to 2.5 days for the remaining 6 weeks.

We are looking for a new member of our Bereavement Services team, to grow our capacity and help us reach even more people bereaved by epilepsy. Our bereavement services are provided for free, completely confidentially, to anyone who needs us. Often via telephone or email support, though we also have a thriving and complex Casework Service, helping bereaved navigate the inquest or investigation into their loved one’s death.

This new position will provide first-hand support to the existing team of 3, learning from their experiences and expertise about how we support people bereaved by epilepsy, and how this way of working influences the work we do across the charity.

You’ll be learning the ropes from day 1, getting stuck in with any tasks needed to help support the Bereavement Services team – this could range from admin tasks, answering initial enquiries from bereaved supporters (via phone or email), and will eventually lead to you taking initial calls with bereaved supporters, sharing with them the different ways the charity can support them, and helping us understand how best we can help them. There is a real potential for this role to grow and develop with the right candidate.

This is a Hybrid / Remote role. The SUDEP Action offices are based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. All staff are expected to visit the office every 6 weeks for a team meeting as a minimum.

• Executive level management experience in a charity or public sector body
