Would you like to be part of our programmes team, supporting our exciting global strategy to make Leprosy and Lymphatic Filariasis diseases of little consequence?

If your answer is yes, then we want to hear from you. We are looking for a Researcher and Technical Adviser (RTA) – Leprosy and LF Control to join our team. You will have the following knowledge and experience:

  • A degree in a relevant subject with experience working in the field of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)
  • Extensive knowledge of global health issues and an up-to-date familiarity with issues and practice in the international development sector
  • Substantive experience in designing and leading research projects and of communicating research results to different audiences 
  • An ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data using a range of different approaches and software and to present this information so that it may be easily interpreted by different users and audiences
  • Relevant, publication track record in peer reviewed journals/books, including as a lead author

This role is a reimagined role replacing the current job holder who has been in post for over 4 years and is moving on in their career. The incoming post holder will work within the 5 person UK’s Programme and Advocacy team and will lead, advise and support the team in relation to Lepra’s research and M& E profile.

It is an exciting time to be coming in to Lepra as we celebrate our organisation’s Centenary year in 2024. In 2023 we underwent a strategic review and developed our new six year global strategy to re-establish our work into the future. We will be using our Centenary year in 2024 as a springboard to launch our new strategic period. Our new strategy will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from disability and discrimination.

The key areas you will be responsible for include:

  • Strategic support
  • Research
  • Technical advisory

And you will support on:

  • International advocacy and influence
  • Knowledge management /learning
  • Monitoring evaluation and impact
  • Capacity development
  • Communications and community engagement
  • Administration and management

As well as the above knowledge and experience you will also have the skills:

Strong research administrative skills, specifically excel; STATA; SPSS; Nvivo and significant experience in MS Office packages

  • Excellent attention to detail, and organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal communication skills, and confidence at presenting and representing at international global fora to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, be flexible and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to travel within the UK and overseas
  • The right to work in the UK

The salary for this position is £28,723 (FTE £35,904) – Manager Level, part time (28 hours – 4 days per week). We have fully embraced flexible working and the role can be either fully remote, hybrid or fully based at our Colchester offices. We offer a lot of flexibility in working practices and there is free reserved parking available. We also offer 26 days annual leave plus public holidays (pro-rated), pension, and support from an in-house well-being team.
